  • who could hate miles davis?

  • I like Miles so much ,I jast listening Him

  • 1001st like

  • I'm still in agreement. "Kind of Blue" is the without a doubt, the finest jazz recording ever. I know its been said time and time again, but if you want to listen to and learn about jazz, this album is the one to begin with. That's right, I said album. (I still have my original album purchase in perfect condition although I did purchase the box set on CD.)

  • my mother was right, i would love jazz at some point..now that i've listened enough of all that fake music, it's time to enjoy this masterpiece...:)

  • The number one jazz album in history still today.....still amazing. Even the RIAA has it listed as the number one jazz album ever.

  • big miles, BIG

  • The genius!!! the master!!!, the one and only Miles Davis!!!. This tune is one of my favorites!. "So what"!.

  • There are 13 very stupid people on Youtube.

  • true that

  • This was play in the backround of the Tommy B. show KBCA 105.1 Jazz Los Angeles back in the day

  • 12 morons, no doubt.

  • What a great sound! Thanks for sharing.

  • Awesome!

  • Kind of Blue...Kind of Cool...Kind of Miles. When I was really turning on to jazz (1975-1981), Davis took a six year vacation (to re-discover his art). There is no excuse for my missing his final 10 years (1981-1991) except I probably had lost my mind. Those who disliked this were probably jealous. And I can understand that. When you miss the baddest, coolest, greatest jazz musician ever to walk the earth you've got to get angry at something.

  • I want a time machine for the 1959, Now!!!

  • Miles was the War Lord of the MFin' Weejuns!

  • 3:59 - 4:08 Miles takes a couple big tokes while 'Trane is wailin'.

  • Some people are considered "haters" because they recognize that Miles Davis is largely an invention of the media, television most noteably. Miles was more of a fashion statement than a musician. He lived off of Kind Of Blue which he loosely "planed" around Bill Evans' piano style. This is why he called Evans back for the recording session, Bill was basically showing people how to do it. So, he had the good sense to be a Bill Evans fan and to get out of John Coltrane's way. Brilliant!

  • @tlink166 Your ignorance leaves me speechless...

  • King of cool.

  • for most of my life, i taken was a rock and roll drummer by hobby, not avocation, and thus mostly a rock music listener. over the last several years, as i reach my mid 40's, jazz, and particularly miles, has enlightened my musical intellect, and i have become a jazz fan, not only in listening, but in playing. i discovered i may have been born to be a jazz drummer all along, i just never knew it.

  • i don't know, fuck.pffff, ey it is Miles. . . kind of blue, what, i do not understand. it is the spirit of jazz.

  • i don't know, fuck.pffff, ey it is Miles. . . kind of blue, what, i do not understand. it is the spirit of jazz.

  • Stunning beauty.The Master.

  • Discovering...how genuine of MIles...what a man.

  • What the fuck with negative votes? FUCK THE HATERS!!!!

  • @b00y4kk4 They are TOO STUPID to appreciate art when they hear it...their loss.

  • Sacred Choral works are my favorite. But I play Kind of Blue on a day-off afternoon, with a glass of Chardonnay, my baby and the breeze. Thank God for Jazz that sounds like the easiest mood of all feels.

  • I like every genre of music there is...but THIS is my favorite album of ALL time! These cats are the coolest.

  • i totally agree with ed bradley it is the most significant album i have ever heard.it is an album that i can play every day of my life.

  • Who the fuck would dislike this??

  • Wow, turn the video to 3:58. Coltrane is just playing away and I mean bad as a motherfucker too, and Miles is just back there all nonchalantly looking cool and smokin’ away. That is so damn cool! That look is classic.

  • Cool Cats!

  • You don't love music until you can appreciate this

  • I do love Miles Davis´ music.

  • Doesn't get better than this!

  • I finally got around to listening to this record 50 years after it and i were made.

    I wasted a half century.

  • MILES DAVIS IS GOD!!!

  • Awesome!

  • 10 people had a stroke while trying to press the like key, and died from how awesome this song is

  • Miles with "pianists Bill Evans and Wynton Kelly, drummer Jimmy Cobb, bassist Paul Chambers, and saxophonists John Coltrane and Julian "Cannonball" Adderley" fan-fuckin-tastic.

  • Kind of Blue, possibly the coolest album ever made.

  • Music.....music too Chill too.....

  • In the pocket......

  • greattttttttt.......

  • what really pisses me off is why the hell doesent this have more views this is real music why the hell do people not realise this.

  • Listen to the tempo. This is different times, slow times.

Too slow for most kids. Everything has to happen fast, and now. You need the right mindset for the Miles.

But it's amazing, at least we can enjoy all this.

  • I wouldn't worry about the number of views this video has on Youtube, Quality over quanity. I don't know dim diddly dim dwat about jazz, but I will enjoy learning about it after listening to this video. Thanks.

  • this shits dead....

  • @airmatt86 as dead as your brain?

  • @kenjutsu34 wtf kind of response is that....

  • @airmatt86 moron .. haha .. dead as nirvana ?? go back to watching spongebob and listen to some 'snow patrol' ... you dummy

  • Miles's music is a spiritual experience.

  • A MASTER OF "THE FEEL"

    a true dealer of mood

  • Thanks God, "El País" spanish newspaper offer this LP , FOR only 7 euros. I collect vynils, but couldn t afford the one of l959, Anyway, I m happy. Miles is at my home.

  • Thank you for posting this!

  • I was born much too late

    ...AGAIN!

  • @Gnocchi you were born in the right time. i say what you say everyday and cry watching the woodstock footage. if you were born then you would probally listen to them, or not, being born in this age now we can look back and say "damn" time to evolve. i wish i was right there with miles when he recorded his tracks.......we will never know. never.

  • @Gnocchi Classic statement! Well done. Reminds me of other side of a Philip Larkin poem:

    Sexual intercourse began

    In nineteen sixty-three

(Which was rather late for me) -

Between the end of the Chatterly ban

    And the Beatles' first LP.

  • @phddddd

neither was this a classic statement (i think), nor do i feel any relation to the 'poem' you quoted. Maybe i was born indeed much too late, but i simply dont get it.

Authentic Jazz is a movement unique to its cultural and historical circumstamces. The Beatles are far out of there. I dont see the Beatles,

    M. Davis, Coltrane, Paker & Gillespie,... fit together.

If you try to answer to my opinion, find another saying that implies that we'll be born again and that we can't choose when!

  • @Gnocchi I thought I said "reminds me;" I really don't care whether it reminds you of this wonderful poem by a wonderful poet or not, and, owing to your less than friendly reaction, I shall also withdraw the "classic" remark as it is more suited to a person with, how shall we say, "je ne sais quoi."

  • @Gnocchi lol

  • @Gnocchi Or too early, better is always yet to come.

  • @Gnocchi better late than never?

  • @Gnocchi

same with me, but now I think its never too late.

  • Maravillosa música.

  • Its 5:00am and I'm listening to Miles Got Inspiration? Nuff said Reason to listen to Miles Davis: 1.Break up with someone 2.your an artist 3.closing a deal 4.not feeling confident 5.your counting your blessings 6.staying humble 7.you miss somebody 8.dont know what to say 9.You need to feel COOL(different from 4.) 10. Never heard Jazz in your life and your interested.
  • Hearing Miles Is like a gourmet food for your soul...

  • @Sdiddy810

    11. You started playin' Miles, so play twice.

    12. You're comparing him with with Hank Mobley, but they're both good so you play 'em again.

    13. You couldn't breathe without him.

    14. The weather involves clouds.

    15. You're just making excuses now.

    16.

  • @Sdiddy810 Thank you very much. I have not read such beautiful words for a long time.

  • @Sdiddy810 There's about a million others you're missing.

  • @Sdiddy810 oh :( and i was just thinking about finding a way to tell my ex-gf she misses me soo much, then i read that u_u

  • @Sdiddy810 Haha im reading this @ 4:19am ,i just found out about this guy.And I love his stuff!

  • @Sdiddy810 ... Add this to your list of reasons to listen to MD: It's 4:52 am and there's nothing better to hear.

  • @Sdiddy810 Number 10 for me :)

  • @Sdiddy810 Great post mate, put a smile on my face.

  • So BRIGHT and BLUE ....

  • As a long time metal head I will say that Naked City was the band that gave me my first exposure to jazz but this was the first full on jazz album that I ever bought. One of the best purchases I ever made. It's a wonderful album that should be in every household.

  • still the greatest album out there

  • @kelly19791 so agree.

  • Come on. Miles Davis has done importen records in cool, bpop, hardbop and fusion. Kind of Blue is importen cause it started hard bop or modal jazz (the end of cool jazz). You have notice that the impro is on modal scales, ergo not cool jazz

  • Still amazing!!!

  • If you are looking to find stuff similar to Miles's work on the Net, Cool Jazz is probably not going to help. It is more generally referred to as part of the Modern Jazz era, specifically be-bop or hard bop as mentioned below.

  • Miles Davis-absolute fuckin genius

  • yeah ninikolaev the problem with miles is that he has done so many styles in his time, from the bebop to the "cool" to the hard bop....he has played in so many styles

  • what genre is miles' davis music exactly?? i know its jazz but im sure you can classify his style more profoundly... like thelonious monk and others they have a similar style to MD... i just wanna know the name of exacctly this style so i could find it and hopefully listen to it in internet radio... plz help!~!!! The only jazz i find so far is superficial and cheesy

  • Its actually classified as Cool Jazz. Miles Davis is one of the first Cool Jazz performers.

  • MILES WAS MILES...

  • this man was the essence of a cool cat. from the way he spoke to the looks he would give. just to cool. hard to find these days.

  • Dear flavio.

Believe me it doesn't sound ridiculous at all.

Many people feel happier because of this album. Many people feel their lives enriched. Just knowing the music is out there, flowing like clouds, swaying and swinging like trees.

Believe me, nothing ridiculous about your feeling flavio.

  • kind of blue rightly considered one of the best albums of all time

  • What I didn't know is that Miles was REALLY into drugs at this time.

    That didn't matter

    Miles is a genius.

  • 99% of jazz giants were...

  • That's true

  • This is a masterpiece in musical recording.

  • Bloody hell, I wasn't aware of this genius. Must listen to more Jazz, it's horrible sin of mine that I don't.

  • It has been said there are five crucial events in Jazz, and that Miles was there at them all. That's genius.

  • I'm amazed this album solk so many copies at the time. It certainly isn't "easy" music, and of course back then modal jazz was very new.

  • haha.

  • God damn AMAZING!

This album will never lose its potency. Pure energy!

  • Wow. Insane.

  • i have nice photo of miles davis and im so proud of it

  • let's see!

  • Miles was the Stravinsky of Jazz.

Both awarded by UNESCO, if I remember well, as the musicians with the great influences in 20th century music.

  • the greatest jazz album of all time.

    easily.

  • if you enjoy music, you should listen to kind of blue - what a trip to the brain. And pretty much the opposite of "trip to the brain" by Suicidal Tendencies, although that is also a good tune.

  • They*re playing at the barcelona Jazz festival right now. Well Jimmy Cobb is, and its a tribute to "Kind of Blue"

  • The greatest jazz album ever made!

  • A kid at my school is named Miles Davis

  • are you crazy miles is the best

  • ROFL

    LOLLOLLOL

  • Or, in your case, kinda dumb.

  • Are you...

    Kind of stupid?

  • I like how Herbie Hancock put it....'he wanted to capture the spirit of discovery'...that's jazz.

  • definitely one of the most influential albums ever made.

  • Miles gave jazz a new esthetic; the only other one I can think of, who did that, is Lester Young. These men are so overpowering in their art, it's difficult to fathom.

  • Music making history. Nothing like Kind of Blue, nobody like Miles. My life is happier because of the album. It sound ridiculous, but is true.

  • The Kind Of Blue album is the single standing alone best ever jazz album... simply divine & sublime... no other can or has come close to touching it...

  • Kind of Blue is perfect!

    Brazilian jazz fan!

  • Lets have a heated debate on the best pianist on the album - Wynton Kelly or Bill Evans???

  • hows can you hate this? I dont think about trying to be cool for a second while listening to it..They are all great artists`

  • i wonder your first overrated musicians..

  • You must be a fusion fan!

    UGH!

  • If Obama was any good, he would have brought out a law the day after he got elected - "no playing Miles in elevators, hotel lobbies, or before 11 pm." Miles knew what was so special about after dark, and it's all here on this one album.

  • Miles is probably wondering what the hell any of you are talking about. Miles was a cat that transcended Jazz for all musicians.Like Jimi Hendrix changing the way the electric guitar was listened to and looked at musically for many, many years.........Just as Miles will be continually talked about for generations way ahead of us. Thanks Miles.

  • I don't even know why I'm even trying to reason with you. It's clearly a waste of time. When you argue with a fool, from a distance people can't tell who is who.

Have a good one man and continue your treacherous tirades of musical tyranny lol.

  • Just like Jazz, there is some Rap that people who are rap don't like or follow. It's just like you might like swing vs. bebop and to claim that because you think you heard a little radio play of something that's popular and assume that represents everything is just pure ignorance.

Your wife is black and your daughter is part black and happens to listen to some of today's current artists but that doesn't mean you know anything about rap. What you want a cookie?

  • Your reading comprehension skills are as lacking as your taste in music.

    I don't have any kids.

My wifes' daughter from her first marriage is black and her daughter is my stepdaughter.

Your reference to "todays' current artists"

    is an oxymoron.

Maybe someday you'll wake up and get it.

  • Actually it read to be some bs to me that you're probably right, I didn't read the drivel as well as I should have. Wow you can spot an oxymoron....how amazing you can't spot a moron like yourself in the mirror. The premise is the same, regardless. Stare a little harder, maybe the jerk will jump out at you.

  • No need for me to stare any harder,

I'm replying to "the jerk" right now.

  • I can name at least 10 rap songs to introduce to the person who "doesn't like rap" that will make them question that statement.

  • Not a snowballs' chance in hell, Homez.

  • First of all, I'm not your HOMIE or HOMEZ. Whatever white man de jour method of spelling it you want to use to excuse your ignorance on the topic.

Second, don't use your black wife and half black child as a shield for being ignorant on a subject. Thirdly, your personal understanding and depiction of rap as an art for is racially offensive and sad.

If you really are married to a black person....well I'll just say, I'm sure she's special, or maybe just very European.

  • Rap is the cousin to all musical artforms in this country, but jazz in particular where it gets much of its improv style and sense instantaneous creation from.

  • You mean hip-hop. Rap is shit.

  • NO, I mean Rap. Hip Hop is the culture (graffiti, djing, breaking, rapping, fashion)...Rap is just the musical outlet of the culture- the aural action.

Alot of the stuff out there right now being badged as rap is not rap....or just a very crappy ludicrous derivative or just like anything that gets commercialized - a poppy form of the original. It's like the Blues to Elvis...nuff said.

  • Rap is bullshit, man.

  • That's cool for your opinion. It just lets me know you haven't listened to that much rap. ....Have you listened to that much jazz either?!?
