  • HOw avout some scale ideas for playin through the changes? Anyone?

  • he stole my solo

  • Stunning! Stopmyheart stunning!!

  • which scale did he used?

  • If he's not an Italian American, I don't know who the hell is!

I bet he can play a kick ass chord melody version of the Godfather theme!

  • @Ado1B Yes, you are correct and very observant.

To hear him play the Godfather Theme, go to the link below

    youtube.com/watch?v=1ajiKhz3oG8

Then listen closely at 7:16. Enjoy!

  • flat third on the d flat, nice!

  • awesome video man. thats playing with some soul right there. Jake

  • Met Robert Conti in the mid-Eighties playing a solo gig in a fine restaurant in RI. He knocked me out. His solo jazz standards were sublime. He plays bebop like crazy, but I love his lyrical melodic solo playing. I had to tear myself away. He is the real deal. Bravo, Mr. Conti!

  • yea chevere (nice), bien tocado maestro... saludos desde mexico

  • That is some nice SOLO over here! :)

  • thank you for sharing mr. conti. excellent playing sir. congratulations.

  • you look like a mobster from the old days. Great song .

  • wahhhh~niceeeee~~relaxing

  • nice Playing!

  • Beautiful Robert ... MB

  • what's guitar is that?

  • That guitar is the prototype of the now available Conti Jazz Guitar. Be sure to see the actual guitar at Robert Conti . com

There are several pictures, specs and customer comments available.

  • i feel like this guy just knows his way completely around a guitar. like he knows every single note on the fretboard that will sound right and knows exactly when to play them

  • 5 stars

  • I remember you from Jax, Don Casper was a great friend ,,,,

  • sad, really sad, i'm wondering if i ever someday could play like that.....

  • Smooth, but can you hear Blue Bossa in it?

  • it is well played

  • the harmony is from blue bossa...

  • I agree, didn't recognize blue bossa from what he was playing at all.

  • u mean u can't hear the chords change in the background.... its pretty obvious

  • @grb321

    well i can .. alittle ..

  • sounds like pat martino here...what is in that philly water??

  • Look up his "What A Wonderful World " at (I think) the namm show here and prepare to have your mind blown.

  • Here's a twist - he plays ultra-fast - with a really thin pick - he explains it in one of his DVDs - I have them all - great stuff!!!! I personally prefer more melody and fewer notes, but "take what you need and leave the rest" Best lesson value for the money!

  • robert conti it's awsome!

  • he looks like a mafia boss who decided to leave the family behind and pick up a guitar

  • Who says he left it behind? This is the kind of thing these mob bosses do: they look all sensitive playing the cello or bossa guitar, then they cut someone's ear off.

  • @FaustyFob , FYI, Even though I know you wrote this a yr ago.

D'Angelico Guitars were made and built in Little Italy NYC. And his apprentice at the time was The late D'Aquisto, Why don't you take a look at the price of those guitars, Not the remakes.

Lenny Tristano, Was Italian was he a Mobster? I disdain people like you, Who don't know what you're talkin about, I can name at least a Dozen Great Italian American Jazz Guitarist. Just look them up.

  • Good question friend, that men it's no use effects,, is the guitar,, that's guitars sound like this

sorry for my einglish im chilean

  • ohmygoddd what a guitar!! cosmic

  • I think its a Boss Talent Zone pedal...

  • His DVD lessons are very practical and useful. Ultimately, playing solid jazz means listening a lot to the jazz greats (any instrument).

  • he has so nice technique there on the picking hand.

  • nice and chill!!I like 5 stars mayne!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • 5 *****

    gagi

  • great lesson

  • What guitar does he use?

  • I believe its a Parker Jazz Guitar

  • Update:

That instrument was not made by Parker. It is a prototype made in early 2007 to Robert's specs, i.e. (Solid Spruce Top: 24 Frets; Quality Pickup & Tuners, Ebony Fretboard etc.). During the past 2 years, as seen in several You Tube clips and his last 7 DVDs, he has played that guitar constantly as an ongoing test of quality. He is extremely pleased and the new "Conti" Jazz Guitar should become available in May/June 2009.

    Thanks for your interest!

    Robert Conti . com

  • Nice n cool :-)

  • very mellow stuff, easy on the ears

  • gangster.

  • This guy is smooth as butter and inspiring, too. I've been listening to lots of early Tal Farlow, but this guy makes me want to check out some contemporary jazz guitar. I'm going to give some of his DVDs a go.

  • can't understand why I haven't come across Conti before - he's as good as anyone I've ever heard. As a bluesman I've always wanted to play jazz but never really studied it in depth - has anyone bought his teaching dvds and improved with them? he seems an excellent teacher too.

  • Yes! I have almost all his products. I sarted with one and kept going. It is the ONLY information on jazz guitar I find useful! I would start with the Jazz Lines DVD (source code) from his website. He's unbelievable but more importantly he's an astounding teacher (and really cool and funny!)

  • reminds me of my previous guitar teacher, since i moved to a new place i no longer can take lessons from him, similar chops and lines too, and he always gave me backing tracks in mp3 format. im kinda interested in taking lessons or getting some dvds, on thing though, do you provide the backing tracks as well? in the dvds or download links?

  • what is the thing hanging from the guitar's headstock ?

    nice playing

  • a tuner

  • Looks like an 'Intellitouch' electronic tuner. Switch it on, sound the strings in turn and it tells you when you're in concert pitch.

  • a wonderful guitarist just discovered him, after pat martino, he has a very melodic sound mixed with speed

  • jajaja mafioso kool i like the sound of his guitar

  • What a fantastic tone !!!!

  • doin well

  • great robert!!

  • very good !!!!!!!!!!!

  • oh my good! robert!

  • I love this guy!

He's like, " If you knuckleheads can't get this, I'm gonna come over to your house and sit there until you do! I'm makin' it easy for you here."

He makes me want to practice. Thanks.

    Bill
