Ya know... I have to ask... has anyone ever been marked from a crayon? The clothing I can understand... but she has crayon all over her face. Is that possible?
Apparently you can use biscuits to find the broken robots as well o.O I've not tried it yet personally but I'm going to and I'll let everyone know if it works lol.
Yes, confirmed! By myself, muahaha... You don't need the Chocolate but you can use that too. You can also use normal Biscuits to find the Broken Robots. I managed to find all four of them. (One in Central Stairway B, Central Stairway C, Central Stairway D, Lift Sector 13) You have to kind of wander about though and just click every intersection until Brown picks up a scent to find the Robots.
Oh also for those playing this and looking for Bullets; I found 7 Bullets in this chapter (One in Central Stairway B, Two in Central Stairway C, Two in Central Stairway D, Two in Sector 13 Lift)
This is just for those wanting bullets and to use the gunpower more so later on lol. Just helping out! I suggest looking for this stuff after you clear all the monsters and before you return the bear to the council, otherwise its more annoying to search during and you can't obtain after.
Well ok, i think i dont have anything else to add there, but it seems to me that, not everything needs to be taken too non-literal, and theres some things that i think are very literal, not sure wich ones exactly, but when wee see something that is obviously not real, like the imps or mermaid Clara, thats Jennifer's imageintation twisting things, but the rest, real characters moving around and interacting, i think most of that needs to be taken literraly, but thats just me.
Lets begin with Hoffmans disapperance, I agree that the theory that suggests that he was somehow forced out by the girls or children seems unlikely. The fact of the matter is that his disapperance is a direct result of Jennifers arrival at the orphanage, whether Jennifer is conscious of this can be questioned, your theory sugests that she is and I cant see anything wrong with that. However I hold a different interpretation of the Hoffman boss-fight.
To me this doesnt primarily show Jennifers (guilty) conscience of somehow contributing to Hoffmans disapperance rather it is symbolic of her fighting and overcoming one of her (major) fears. This is because; first of all the common fact that Hoffman rather despised Jennifer, to a point where it is questionable if he would take action if something actually befell her. This is a sentiment that he apparently displayed openly to her, and maybe also to the other children
Now at the same time Hoffman is the main figure of authority at the orphanage, this combined with his apparent strictness easily made him an intimidating figure for Jennifer. What this abhor against Jennifer is actually based on does however remain inconclusive. However, this interpretation of the Hoffman boss-fight doesnt in anyway rule out that that Hoffmans disapperance might be synonymous to his death
On the contrary that theory can make more sense than one about him simply leaving with no apparent reason at all.
Now the fact that he appears tide up in the boss-fight (and in the keyhole sequence prior to it) indicates to me that he is indeed bound for instance by his position, his commitment or by his beliefs from exerting his freedom to the fullest, yet at the same time these bonds dont completely prohibit movement as is seen in his treatment of Jennifer.
How this translates to his treatment of the other children can of course be debated. To me Hoffman seems mainly to be strict and authoritative, demanding obedience and discipline from the children and caring for them only when these criteria are actually met, something thats insinuated by his need to rank them. Not a very healthy or positive relationship I know, but then again these are hard to find in RoR. There is evidence in the game that supports this view, mainly in the later chapters...
...but there of course is also evidence suporting a view that goes against this interpretation. The scene with Hoffman and Clara in the Sick-bay has been mentioned another sceen that can convey a similar message is the one with Hoffman and Diana which follows the meremaid boss-fight. These sceens, coupled with other bits of information, create a far more sinister image of Hoffman and the orphanage as a whole.
The problem here is the lack of undeniable and concrete evidence that clearly support one interpretation over the other, a sometimes troublesome aspect that also applies to other areas of the game. This is something that occurs in many horror games and most of the time this ambivalence is actually a positive feature since it gives the game some deapth and leads to deliberation. RoR has however a tendency of overdoing this at times, thereby turning ambivalence into obscurity.
Yeah, i was going to mention Diana into the Hoffman-Clara thing, but i dunno, its just too weird, i feel kinda uncomfortable about that (more about Diana than Clara since she is obviously younger), specially in that scene, but for some reason at the same time thats one of the scenes that i like the most (time paradox), cause it shows how manipulative she can be, and how her somehow "evil" mind works... she is just such a cool character.
I'll post here, cause the reply list is gettin long, anyway, the fact that Jennifer dont say anything in the final chapter doesnt really help, cause as we can see, shes not talking about anyone in a bad way, only seeing the good things in everyone, and even when we now the other girls where really mean (i mean, really mean, there some other interesting things about that), she only say good things about them, so yeah, even if something really bad happend, she only sees good things there.
And its true that her behaviour soesnt necesarilly show abuse, but, i dunno, its hard to point out since if it happend nothing is shown directly, scenes like at the begining of vid 20, or in 21 at 2:30 and then we enter the room and mermaid Clara was in that bed, or in 47 when Sasha is talking about Clara the Hoffman calls her to a room... this last one is specially interesting, cause she missed a scene when if you try to open the door where they went theres a scene...
...where you are watching thru the keyhole, and Clara is cleaning the floor and Hoffman is standing in front of her, yeah thats not weird, but why is relevant to show that, doesnt make much sense after he called her to enter the room the way he did... also "when Sasha said "Girls you know what thats for" i didnt know, im not a girl, and then i was like "Ooohhhh".
And if it did happen, and since most of the orphans are girls, maybe she stayed to protect them, "better me than them" cuase well, they are younger... and what you said is completly possible given the nature of the game, but theres what i think is evidence... im just not sure of wheter it is literal or not sometimes...
And about Hoffman, i really dont know for sure actually, but i read in a forum, that theres the possibility for the girls to have forced him somehow to leave, but im not fond of that, i actullay think he died, as we can see in the first boss battle, wich is not literal, but he died there, wich could mean Jeniffer actullay saw him die, and maybe shes blaming herself (when we actually killed him in the battle... by accident somehow cause he was tied up)
But this is one of the parts where im not sure if all is real or not, he could have been really tied up, as we can see before that thru a keyhole, some imps are around him and you can see the ropes, (IMO the imps represents the children... everytime we see them) so the kids really tied him, or is just a metaphor of how the kids really bothered him, but he was "tied up" or not allowed to, i dunno, beat them, or punish them in a more severe way.
...and BTW, maybe is a little bit late, but for what i saw in previous videos, while fighting enemys you shouldnt do the whole combo (3 hits), since the last hit slows you down, and let you open for attacks, its better to only do the 1st hit several times tryng to avoid the combo, that way sometimes enemys cant even move...
OK, some of the theories i have are correct and others im not sure, but most of them should be known after the game ends... if you want you can ask, since theres so much content and confusion in the game i dont even know where to start....
Yeah okay, but theres not only one, since theres a lot of aspects of the game that need to be explained.. but the most important one (and some of you probably know it), is the fact that the whole game is just a representation of Jeniffer's past, like the orphanage parts are her past there, or the airship parts are fragments of memories from when she was in the airship crash from wich she was the sole survivior (and that's not a theory).
And then theres the whole Wendy-Brown-Jennifer-Gregory thing wich is the main theme of the game, Gregory rescued Jeniffer from the wreckage (or she ended up nearby him by accident, not sure) and kept her as Joshua, his already dead son (yeah, gregory is looney, lets mention that, besides he was kidnaping kids and stuff) and then Wendy managed to get her out of there, and thats how she ended in the orphanage, where she was forced to join and obey the rules from the Aristocrats.
Then Jennifer found Brown and Wendy got all jealous, and thats when the whole problem started... so that is the basis, but i was expecting more specific questions, like "what the hell happened to hoffman" or "why did she locked up Brown at end" (wich is pretty obvious, and i wanna hear what others think about that actually) or "What Sasha said in the videos did actually happened to Clara?" i think it did... damn, this game is heavy... anyway things like that.
Hm...I agree with most of the theory that you have presented, but I wonder why you belive that Clara was abused in any way. Let me express som counterarguments:
First of all it is quite clear (for me at least) that Clara actually enjoyed working with the other kids and helping Hoffman in running the orphanage, this is something that is expressed in Hoffmans journal, but also when various places and objects are examined in the final chapter, basically she helped run the orphange.
This kind of behavior doesn't agree with the fact that Hoffman had abused her in any way. Why would want to be in his company if he did, why would she get involved in anything that was even remotely related to the orphanage if this took place. These things don't ad up in my opinion, that is unless you conclude that Clara has a major stockholm syndrome and is obsesive compulsive as well... True she apears shy and solitary, but that is only because this is the way that Jennifer remembers her.
This brings me over to my other point: Remember that everything in the game is based on Jennifers memories and experiences, and that up until the final chapter these are by large non objective, i.e collorored by her interpretation and imagination. The fact that Hoffman never liked Jennifer, never accepted her as a matter of fact, with the fact that Clara was often in his company and likely seemed distant when dealing with the other children formed the idea of a destructive relationship.
This doesn't mean that I compleatly rule out that what Sasha said happend to Clara did happen, I only find it rather unlikely.
But you got me curious about one thing: why do you think Hoffman left the orphanage prior to Gregorys arrival there, because this is one aspect of the story that kind of eludes me. He coulnd't have known about what was about to happen, so did he up and leave because he got tired of working there and juped to the conclusion that this was going nowhere fast?
