Am is the only minor I know in this - my eyes aren't as good as they used to be but it looked to me like you had Am in there somewhere lol

  • This may be my favourite version yet.

  • Lovely voice. Nicely done.

  • Beautiful song ; I love your interpretation. Thanks to you both. Regards from France.

  • Great rendition. The songs name is actually "No Man's Land" and in the chorus the line used here "sound the death march" is often incorrectly sung especially by Irish bands. That is a line from "Streets of Loredo" whereas this song should actually be "did the rifles fire o'er ye". Mind right enough I did once hear Eric Bogle (the composer) tell an audience that he didn't greatly mind if the Irish bands got the title or lyrics wrong as long as he got his bloody royalties :-)

And at Johnny Byrnes "Geneva Bar" with the little Asian guy playing along with you on the fruit machine, priceless the look on his face when Johnny turned it off. Come back and play this cold and damp Island soon.

  • Thats great Yamos, 3 months hard practice and then the guitar will become your friend for life.

  • i know of talked on here before but i got to say every time i hear this song im moved, i love the last verse with Linda singing and tapping on the drum, it just really has a lot of emotion, did you ever think of doing this song for a movie or something. i mean in my boy jack that was on british telly a few weeks back this would have been really appropriate and would of brought a lot of emotion to it.

  • Thank you very much.

  • Beautiful rendering of one of my favourite songs. Thank you.

  • That's amazing.

I've listened to a trillion versions of this song, but this one just stands above the rest.

My teacher played it to my history class because we are studying WW1, and I have loved this song since, but it's so hard to find a good version with the beautiful simplicity of an acoustic guitar.

  • Indeed, these two did a fine version. Very well done. The Fureys did a fine one too but not sure if it's on Youtube

  • brilliant. i was brought up on irish folk music and as i am maturing i am getting back in touch with my roots. this is my favorite rendition i've heard of this song. what a voice. when the drums come in i get goose bumps 3 times in a row and felt compelled to comment. wonderful.

  • superb,a very sensitive rendition of this song,do you do other music?

  • thank you for sharing ur interest with us. i love the irish folk tunes and australian stuff, specially eric boogle's work. its in the mentallity of all of our great nations that we remember the fallen. have you heard and the band played waltzing matilda i think the song mentioned and this one makes such an impact on the young people if only they could see it and images of the horror it may teach them more respect i hope. do you both sing in europe or have you ever.

    mike

  • Yes I know "the band played waltzing matilda" and I will put that up here on YouTube quite soon, wonderful song.

We gig most of the summer months in Portugal, but twice a year we have short tours in Germany, we are just about to embark on a 6 week tour of Germany in the Black forest area.

All details of our concerts are on out main website, do have a look. klonakilty dot com

I agree young people need to understand the horrors of war to understand the value and need to respect the peace.

  • Quite rare for a lady to sing this one - well done (BZ)

  • Yes it is, and Thank you.

  • if i may ask K10natkilty wot sparked both of ur interests in folk music. specially this song. i have been studying millitary history for 10 years now and i find this song is a beautiful one that says no more war and i love how it emphasises the fact. we must remember the gallant fallen though.

  • Ive always been a fan of folk music, and i heard this song for the first time at a folk festival 20 yrs ago. Ive played it in various forms ever since then. I think Linda being Irish was weened on folk music. Thanks for your interest.
