Factually, this is the longest freight run in Africa. The 9e electric locos are fitted with toilets and cooking facilities. Small motorcycles are provided for the crew to run inspections of the full length of the train which can be up to 7 kms in length!
The sound that those freight cars make almost sounds exactly like the new Bombardier Mseries passenger railcar trains back in Long Island,NY!! I sure as hell wish I was there in that vid to hear that monsterous beast!!! good vid!!!!
@blazian1011 yeah it suck when the road crosses the line on a level crossing.... but its fun too basically you climb out and stretch your legs while you wait for it to pass.... we visit family in that area. had too act jaded when you experience something like that
The train shown here has 216 wagon however in August 1989 three trains were joined together, with 9 electric and 7 seven diesel locomotives to create a train that was 7.3km long and travelled 861km from Sishen to Saldana in South Africa
