  • I love long sword format, it seems to demand a long loping stride to the dance, giving it a certain elegance. love the tune too, Papa Stour. Look out for a version by the High Level Ranters, a Newcastle folk group who play the tune on a Hardanger fiddle, a Norwegian 8 stringed fiddle, the normal four strings each with a sympathetic string 1 octave higher.

  • well worth watching, great stuff.

Thank you for keeping up our traditions

  • Great to see a bit of Northern English Culture still being kept alive.

  • @rudeydudey05 - Thank you, but North BRITISH Culture please. Elgin is in Scotland.

Well... This is a dance from Shetland, about as far north as you can get in Britain. But... all the similar dances in Britain are indeed found in Northern England, mainly in Yorkshire and Northumberland.

  • Sorry archritze but you're totally boring:

  • sorry but this is totally gay :D

  • Great dance! I particularly liked the sword lock (pristine!) and the passing of the lock. Very nicely done!
