what makes the defender so badass, is the exterior roll-cage. makes it so cool. you can flip that thing, and it will only bluff up the paint on the roll cage.

Defenders ARE great, it's a shame they insist on pricing them so ridiculously. For the price of a D90, you can buy a brand new fully loaded luxury car. And while 90's are IMHO the best production offroad vehicle period, you can build something to compete with it for ALOT less then what they go for.

The (factory shipped) defender is better at break over, entry and departure angles. However, the (factory shipped) Disco3 is better at ground clearance and wading depths.
I don't particilary care, I have the same amount of fun in both of them!
factory shipped yes, but very few defenders which are regularly used off-road stay stock, and you can get defenders from the dealership with a snorkel which puts its wading depth much higher than the discovery 3's wading depth.
Forget about whether they're the best or not, what about the driver? What a NOOB putting it on its side like that! If you can walk up a hill, you can drive a landy on it. End of story.

defenders are gr8 but i think mercedes G is even better, i have an old GD300 a friend of mine has a defender (both completely untuned and standart tires). he doesn't have front or rear lockind differentials and gets stock in mud. his rear window blasted, there are screws falling out of the dashboard, it rains inside and he has the 3rd engine in 2 years. my g's engine and transmission are lasting since 20 years and 220000 miles.
20 years and only 220000 miles, my land cruiser has been with me 11 yrs. and its got 186000. and it kicks the ass of all the cars mentioned here. my girlfriend owns a land rover, what a pussy :).

Maybe. Honestly haven't checked. I remember noticing years back Rovers shared similarities and even some parts with Honda. I remember the characteristic flared chrome tailpipe tips and shifter knob. And you know the car Sterling? It was the American badge for Rover and essentially an Acura (Honda) Legend. ;)

Nice to see a Disco 3 being used off road. Whats the point of having ANY off roader if you never go off road. If you've never tried it-get out there and have a go. Even a stock Daihatsu Sporttrack can be heaps of fun on a muddy or gravelly track!

Well here in australia the army used to use Land rovers....then they changed to toyota land cruisers.......and then back again to land rovers.......NO..land rovers weren't any better.....just that when they ran Cruisers their mechanics had no work to do.......they had to go back to Land Rovers to keep their mechanics employed.
toyota are work horses they can take any punishment that you can give to the vehicle.. just chek the new landcruiser 70 series at australia that beast hava a v8 turbodiesel engine diff lockers bullbar snorkel and more offroad accesories and have it from toyota original parts
there is a reason why the british military use land rover defenders and not anything else - they are simple the best off road. Other vehicles may come close, but when it comes to toughness, defenders trump everything

jeeps and rovers are the best, nothing else comes close. all other brands concentrate too much on other less important aspects of manufacture, jeeps and rovers remain today the best 4x4s on the market..but no matter how good a vehicle you have, one slight driver error and even a hummer will get stuck. thats why i hate when people post videos of stuck rovers and the like and call them shit
depends where in the world you live , jeeps here in oz are known to blow up and just be lemons rovers are much the same but you really have to be into them to buy one, in oz its reliability or nothin criusers are top of the market but patrols are getting back into the makert with extreme grunt out of there turbo diesels turning heads !

All they did was pulled the Defender upright so it could drive away. The LR3 has independent suspension which makes it about useless for serious off-road (I'm talking Moab, Panamint and the like). The Landys do have known serious issues, the main one is weak open differentials. It's noteworthy that the Defender was undamaged, he got himself into that situation by staying too far to his left. The G-wagon you can buy new is tuned for road use, the best off roaders are Unimogs and Pinzgauers.
Its fake!! Its all done with C.G.I. This would never happen in real life . Long live the defender.. But i love the disco 3 as well so nice video :D

defenders are gr8 but i think mercedes G is even better, i have an old GD300 a friend of mine has a defender (both completely untuned and standart tires). he doesn't have front or rear lockind differentials and gets stock in mud. his rear window blasted, there are screws falling out of the dashboard, it rains inside and he has the 3rd engine in 2 years. my g's engine and transmission are lasting since 20 years and 220000 miles.

Maybe. Honestly haven't checked. I remember noticing years back Rovers shared similarities and even some parts with Honda. I remember the characteristic flared chrome tailpipe tips and shifter knob. And you know the car Sterling? It was the American badge for Rover and essentially an Acura (Honda) Legend. ;)

Aston: over priced, under performing: a slow and over rated Ford, looks like the new Mondeo. TVR are fairly russian these days, not to mention they are crazy and outrageous and have NO END of technical and reliability problems, worse than Kia! Bently is just Volkswagon trying to compete with Rolls WHICH IT CAN'T Jaguar hasn't been Jaguar since Ford bought them and started to make them out of the Ford parts bin, hopefully the new owners will make them better.

Well here in australia the army used to use Land rovers....then they changed to toyota land cruisers.......and then back again to land rovers.......NO..land rovers weren't any better.....just that when they ran Cruisers their mechanics had no work to do.......they had to go back to Land Rovers to keep their mechanics employed.

All they did was pulled the Defender upright so it could drive away. The LR3 has independent suspension which makes it about useless for serious off-road (I'm talking Moab, Panamint and the like). The Landys do have known serious issues, the main one is weak open differentials. It's noteworthy that the Defender was undamaged, he got himself into that situation by staying too far to his left. The G-wagon you can buy new is tuned for road use, the best off roaders are Unimogs and Pinzgauers.
