  • That was sick man! My best is 18 reps and I tore a pec doing it, lol. I'm back up to 10 reps now and I'm one of the stronger guys at the gym. 52 reps is HUGE... That's a lot of groceries! On a side note, I can do 53 reps of 135lbs....no? ....nothing?....not even a titter?..Lol.

  • @Photo314159 Funny you mentioned that because I got 225x12 (which was a new record for me) and then the next week my chest felt torn and I had to lay off for 4 weeks. It may have just been a bad sprain or partial tear. Did yours require surgery? How long did it take to heal? Right now I'm only back up 225x6.

  • @hawaiidispenser No surgery, but it would hurt like hell intermittently and I'd almost pass out. (when I wasn't working out) I've slowly built back up and the pain is going away. Gotta stretch real good now though before a workout. My chest felt torn the instant it happened though. They had to pull the bar off me and I couldn't lift for 3 weeks. Then only light weights. I'm back up to 11 reps at 225 now, but it's taken about 6 1/2 months.

  • @Photo314159 If you couldn't get the bar back up, that definitely sounds like a tear. Was there that black & blue bruising? My pain did not appear till a few days later and, come to think of it, may have been caused by overstretching. I was getting really good about stretching every day, and it felt great and I was getting so flexible, then I think I went to far one day and the pain appeared later that day. I'm glad you made it back without surgery. Did you ever see a doc?

  • @hawaiidispenser No bruising, it was deep underneath. I think it may have been the pectoralis minor, the underlying muscle right against the ribcage. It felt super tight just before it went. I even thought I could finish my workout with 135lbs just so it wasn't wasted and I couldn't do one rep. My pain was immeditae definately. No doctor, as they've never told me anything usefull. I research and treat myself if I can.

  • Amazing! I'm trying to get back into benching shape myself.

    For those of you out there with the comments that some of the reps were not fulling locked out... just consider this... locking out is only a shift and rotation of the shoulders and elbows and perhaps only requires the lifter to move the bar up 1 inche.

    Also, quite frankly, each time a lifter locks out he takes the tension off his muscles and in the course of a set this helps a lifter to get a few more reps.

  • I love the bench press, unfortunately, i cant do reg benching anymore because of a back injury i suffered about 8 years ago; reg benching really hurts my lower back, so i have to do the seated chest press machine. I do alot of machines now, but whatever excercises i can do free weights on, i do, because i know the importance of them, also i dont go heavy like i used too. Awesome vids, keep them coming!

  • Now that is much better! Props to you on the form in this video as you use a full range of motion! Oh and 560 raw bench no steroids! Yeah, derek poundstone don't do that, if that were true you WOULD without a doubt be the worlds strongest man once you got on steroids! SO im not buying it!!

  • @MrDroberts24 Yep. Finally someone who can see. It makes you wonder, when he said he benched that 560Ibs, did he do it with good form? I could bench far more with bad form than with good form, but it doesn't make you any stronger, thinking so is a dilution. It only means that if he haven't always worked out with bad form like in that video, then he would be far above 560Ib today along with many others that I've seen here on youtube.

  • Thanks for all the comments.. keep up the training.. for the ones wondering, my max was 560 raw..tried 580 but couldn't cut it..lol. my goal is a 600 raw, maybe when I leave hawaii and go to the mainland the training will step up.. but as for now slacker.. ohh and no roids yet.. but believe u me I will one day.. fcukk what the media says!! I'm on the way to be a cop so u gotta be clean for minimum 3 years

  • @clickclackboom1000 First i doubt he weighs that much he looks jacked to me and you have obviously never done 225 before becase to do it that many time is reiculous a 300+ nfl lineman usualy cant do it that much and in fact in the Nfl combine the first lineman chosen a couple of years ago named nick mangold didnt do it over 30 times so just shut the fuck up troll

    I can hit 30 reps (at 210 lbs) with 2 plates at the moment and I am maxing in the low 400's...so you must be in the 500's. Crazy....

  • how does one get so good at bench? i mean i'd like to bench heavier for reps, right now i'm at 225 for four on a good day, my maxout being 295. is it age, or just lost of reps with light weight to work your way up.

  • hah well like warming up for it, you know start with the basic 135 for ten, move on to 185 for eight, 205 for six, 225 for four in a sitting. do it all summer than max out at 295. my max should maybe be more than that but i'm kind of afraid of moving up to higher weight

  • haha id say if he benches 225 for four on a good day...his max should be 240lbs...because i bench 225 with 8 reps and my max is 265..so i think yeup..295 is way off..

    The reason you only manage 8 reps is probably because you do full rom instead of partials like the NFL combine en other record guys do. Be proud of your full roms instead.

  • well after sets of 405 on the bench i can still get 50 wit 225.. i got a 65 once but i trained high reps for 2 weeks then gave it a shot.. like i said in the gym is way easier then in competition.. your gym=your warm up,bar and when u ready.. comp is sit wait and then go..lol

  • no i suppose to be taking in 400 grams of protein a day wit food and drinks, 60 carbs maximum.. but its the other way around..lol too much mcdonalds and fast foods in my life.. if my diet was on point i should be way stronger.. get this guy in my gym 145lb he takes in 300 grams of protein a day and he can rep the 125 dumbells for 10 on flat.. he has the right diet, so hes even more animal

  • for u that dont know,its in a competition so the rule is to touch chest and touch the rope where they set it.. watch the rope.. i dont work out doing 50 rep sets..

  • to all the respectful negatives i gained 9lbs over night so thats not my walk around weight,and in the gym is easier then comp cuz you get to warm up correctly,choose your bar bench and even un rack yourself which helps alot but i still can get 60 after doing 3 sets of 405x12 and weighing in at 260 now.. video coming soon of 405 for 15 at 260..

  • wow 580 is mean, im hoping to get their within the next 2 months.. actually i only had a three week notice about the event.. but after a full chest & tri work out.. i would do push ups about 4 sets of 80.. go super fast try get as low as possible but dont go up to lock out.. i think that was the difference for me...

    theres a competition again in the begining of april so now i have a little more time to prepare..

  • ok smooth.. im guessing you wanna destroy the combine for nfl.. haha im from hawaii and the record in UH is 46.. my endurance is top notch but i gotta start trainging heavier.. i can do 4 sets of 12 with 315 for military press and still do 3 sets of 125 dumbells for shoulders right after.. but scared to train heavier cuz of injuries.. good luck with that..
