  • Setrap is a very powerful protector, i bet even being in the prayer hall you can feel the presence of Setrap. I love the music the monks made and the mantras their saying, such excellence! Thatnk you so much Rinpoche for sharing with us your experience in the Ganden Shartse Monastery.

  • Setrap is a wonderful practice to overcome obstacles, develop merits to engage in deeper Tantric practice. He is protector of 1500 monks in Gaden Shartse and now in Kechara House as well.

  • I love the sound of the musical instrument make and Rinpoche's chanting the Setrap's mantra.

  • Oh my god! How electrifying! I bet being in the prayer hall, one can literally feel Setrap's power! What beautiful and haunting chants. The cymbals, longhorns and clarinets evokes images of a galloping ancient warrior emerging through the mist of our negative karma to come to save us from obstacles the obstruct our spiritual path.

  • I love Setrap, and i do found alot of articles about Setrap from the google...Setrap is a protector, an emantion of Amitabha who protect buddha teachings, and help to clear one's obstacles.....Nice to see the big Setrap statues from this video here.....

  • Thank you ninje08, you have helped me with this nice explaination. Thank you! How kind of Loden Serab who understands how to care for Lord Setrap by offering longhorns and clarinets as a symbol of elephants and peacocks.

  • Everyone should come and join our Lord Setrap Puja, it's easy to chant and recite, and the prayers is not long, plus you will gain the blessing from Lord Setrap......As you can see from this video, Gaden Monastery (founded by Lama Tsongkhapa) has a big Setrap statues, so do the branches - Kechara House in Malaysia......

  • Gelugpa118: Since you like Lord Setrap so much, You should come to our weekly Lord Setrap Puja every Monday (English), 8pm, KH2 or every Tuesday (Mandarin), 8pm at KH2.....Hope to see you there......

  • Great video showing the Gaden Moanstery - Lord Setrap with all the holy monks doing puja.......Not mistaken, Gaden Monastery is the unbroken lineage of Gelugpa tradition and also founded by Lama Tsongkhapa......I'm so happy to see the holy monks, the high lama - The Abbot and HH Kyabje Zong Rinpoche in thise video here....Thanks for posting.....

  • Wow, first time i see the Gaden Monastery Lord Setrap Statue, it is so big and nice, plus the monks are doing LOrd Setrap Puja prayers together with Rinpoche and KH members.......Thanks for posting this video....

  • I must say Rinpoche was so kind to bring the Lord Setrap teaching to malaysia and so many people benefited from Proctector and also Rinpoche Blessing....Lets put our hands together to help Rinpoche to spread the Dharma and Lord Protector Setrap teachings.......

  • It is very nice to see the monks do puja, as is holy and higly blessed......Loden Sherab bring Lord Setrap from India to Tibet to help the people, he's so kind to pass down the unbroken lineage, where everyone can heard and practise Lord Setrap prayers........I bow down to you....

  • Hmm.. the sounds of the monks chanting is so soothing. Rinpoche is showing such great humility and respect - something we should emulate.

  • I like this video a lot! Thank you!

  • Lord Dharmapala Setrap Chen (commonly known as Setrap Protector), he is the Protector of Dharma of Gaden Shartse Monastery is well known for its powers to Pacify all Obstacles, Demons, Spirits and Black Magic, the power of the mantra for Lord Setrap is beyond words can describe...

  • Can someone answer me why longhorns and clarinets were played?

  • Premalanaidu76, based on Rinpoches explanation in this video Setrap Chinese Puja Talk (with Chinese translation) Tsem Tulku Rinpoche; the long horns & clarinets are play as offering of sounds supposedly from elephant & peacocks respectively since Setrap came from India with lust forest & these beautiful animals. According to Rinpoche, Setrap followed the Buddhist monk & translator Loden Serab (excuse my spelling) to Tibet to protect dharma practitioners from obstacles of black magic etc.

  • For me, it is the exotic aspect of what we see (music, costumes, etc...) that I notice first, Europe is where I grew up, and I never saw anything like it before. But then, knowing more and more about the meanings of such things as the protocoles, offerings, or even the clapping of hands, this "exotisme" that first acted like an obstacle to me becomes simply a varnish, and the little that I have learned about Vajrayana makes me see through the varnish a little.

  • This video is very interesting, I get to see so many things that we dont see in Malaysia.

  • See 1.40, I noticed where both Khen Rinpoche (Abbott of Gaden Shartse) with Tsem Rinpoche is so humble to each other. Can see that Tsem Rinpoche is very well received in the Monastery.

  • Hi skyjuiceman, Ya, they are so humble to each other, isnt it so funny, Both Rinpoche is like, I wanna be the first one to offer the khata to show respect.

Plus this is the monks are doing Setrap Puja in Ganden Shartse when Rinpoche Arrives, This is the same prayer that they are doing in Kechara House every week if i'm not mistaken.

  • Dear Shoujian, the puja in Kechara House is read in English & Mandarin.. not exactly same lor... I attended the puja, we do the short version puja (about an hour) and I was told the medium length puja (about 2 hours) will be once a month or on special occasion.

  • You mean they have it here in Malaysia?, Wow this is so amazing. Tibetan Buddhism in Malaysia is really growing yeah.

  • Thanks to Tsem Tulku Rinpoche for bringing practises of Gelugpa tradition into Malaysia. Due to his kindness that we are able to practise Setrap puja every week both English and Mandarin version in Kuala Lumpur! Mondays and Tuesdays 8.00pm

  • if you would like to join the weekly pujas for Lord Setrap in malaysia, which will help with various problems, kecharahouse(dot)com has a timetable which the pujas will be done.

  • it is so inspiring to see so many monks who take Setrap as their protector. I like the part where Rinpoche makes an offering to the high lamas...

  • i like the chanting so i had to watch again.

  • This proves once and for all that Setrap is kosher, contray to the comments of certain sectarian individuals in a forum called e-sangha. namdrol needs to watch this and realize that him making such callous statements would be equalevent to disproving the monastery of Ganden.

  • How do they get their voices so low? The baby monks r so kawaii.

  • E MA HO

  • Thank-you Rinpoche.
