They were extremely well trained. Their standing order was to retake British territory that had fallen into enemy hands. But it's very hard to do that if there are no enemy soldiers to shoot at. What you end up with is a total fuck up. Just ask any US Army veteran from Vietnam, Iraq or Afghanistan. They were extremely well trained. Their standing order was to retake British territory that had fallen into enemy hands. But it's very hard to do that if there are no enemy soldiers to shoot at. What you end up with is a total fuck up. Just ask any US Army veteran from Vietnam, Iraq or Afghanistan. Or any other war the United States has started over the past 50 years (and, big and small, there have been lots of them).
At least this incident was investigated. The US doesn't bother.

Lord Saville's final report and conclusions were supposed to be published in 2005 but the large amount of evidence being considered delayed publication by another five years. It was finally published in June 2010. It concluded none of the victims were armed, soldiers gave no warnings before opening fire and the shootings were a "catastrophe" for Northern Ireland, leading to increased violence in subsequent years.

Funny that when a few twisted British soldiers kill a handful of Irish protestors its a massive crime, rendering the nation as evil, but when the IRA bomb a station full of men women and children in London who are completely innocent theyre rendered heroes. Nobody seems to give a shit about the hundreds that were killed by them in the streets of Omagh either, or the British sgt who sacrificed himself and saved an entire Irish family by throwing himself in a doorway when an IRA grenade went off

It was sad what happened on bloody sunday. It was one of the few incidents were the security forces were the ones committing an atrocity not the paramilitaries. However a majority of the people killed during the troubles were killed by the IRA. It was not the british army who were the bad guys in this terrible war.

@jonoessex ... but the events of Bloody Sunday were the sole cause of the IRA swelling in numbers and committing all the subsequent atrocities ... we reaped a whirlwind. The Civil Rights Movement (a peaceful movement) was destroyed and the paramilitaries took over. Had Bloody Sunday not happened we would likely have had peace in Northern Ireland much sooner.

@Whirlygig269 This film is just progaganda. Don't believe it. The civil rights movement was not destroyed. In fact after bloody sunday they organised another march a week later in Newry. By 1975 all the demands of the civil rights movement (NICRA) had been implemented and legislated for. by the british government. The civil rights movement disbanded voluntarily in the early "80's. Don't believe the propaganda in this film.

That was just wrong. I have no words to describe what am feeling, that was just simply wrong, what are advancements of this story? Can anyone tell me what happened later after that? I really think people should fire with fire, when they started to shoot live ammunition they should have fired back. As i also think they should have stuck to the main group and avoided that, but non the less, what he paras did was wrong.
