I saw them live one time in Detroit USA, around 1980-81. I was about 20 ft from the stage (it was a small club), and they were much too loud, dangerously loud!! Other than that, it was a great show, the most wild I was ever at!!

I'm a big fan of Madonna, but I'm also an even bigger fan of punk rock. And what most people don't know is that Madonna is a big punk fan. She took her love of pop music and combined it with her punk rock attitude and succeeded in making both of those things more ACCESSIBLE.
She's groundbreaking because she made self-expression accessible, thus popular. She never claimed to be the FIRST to ever do it.
But I do wish, oh so badly, that Wendy would get her credit that is much overdue.

Which is why I directed my comment to Madonna's fans. I have no problem with Madonna herself, but more so of her fans, many who seem to be unknowledgeable about music history (not saying you are). I don't know how many times I've heard from them, "oh, but she's the first to do this..she's the first to do that," when in fact, the majority of those claims can be disputed. Yes, Madonna was groundbreaking, but so was Wendy, Siouxsie Sioux, Patti Smith, Kate Bush, The Slits, etc.

She was the craziest bitch metal ever had, and I mean that as a term of endearment, and I would have licked the sweat off her hard body anytime. I saw her and the Plasmatics in 1981 [Arnhem, Stokvishal- still got the ticket!], i was 15 and was deaf for 3 days after that show!
Wendy was a very intelligent woman, and didn't compromise; i respect her SOOO much!
She never got the succes and credits she deserved.

I saw them live one time in Detroit USA, around 1980-81. I was about 20 ft from the stage (it was a small club), and they were much too loud, dangerously loud!! The kind of loud where distinguishing songs was impossible, and you felt like you were floating off the ground!! I couldn't hear right for about a week!! Other than that, it was a great show, the most wild I was ever at!!

Yeah, I saw them once in Detroit, and I probably lost some hearing at that show!! I should have moved back (when I heard how loud they were), but I stayed pretty close to the stage. I can still feel my ears ringing almost 30 years later!!

I saw Wendy at a small venue in Long Beach Ca. Fender's Ballroom. Some great shows went down there. The things is... I remember that show like I saw it a week ago, and it has been 25 years or more since. Only one Wendy.
