  • Wow it's like an art! I can't imagine how skilled geisha were back in the old days without hair spray and Bobby pins. It must have taken forever!!

  • @honeydew661 Hehe, Geisha had to go to a specialist hair place back then (and still now) once a week to get their hair done :p It was very painful! This Youtuber has done an excellent job recreating the same look!

  • @01fey I agree :)

  • this actually looks pretty good and authentic... i wonder if it'd stay up using the hair wax?

  • @DragonGeisha82 You should try it and let me know if it does :)

  • It is really easy... it would just take a while.

  • @migencluz Matter of fact.. I just fixed my hair like this the first time. lol I was pretty surprised at how awesome it came out. :) It was fun to do this tutorial :)

  • @jaguilar81 That is only the first one... one of the easiest. Do you mind if you post another one but a different one... Hmph i always find videos of people fixing hair using fake heads...

  • @migencluz I would.. but since this video I've cut my hair UBER short... like SUPER short! lol :( I'm sorry

  • @jaguilar81 Well at least you said you would... that is all that matters

  • Wow! eres toda una artista! mis respetos para tu trabajo, el mejor sin duda!!!

  • é lindo nem acredito ki cnsegui achar esse penteado fikei procurando tanto tempo e agora achei finalmente!

  • This was great! Only thing I couldn't see it well.. the picture was so tiny. :) But t looks easy enough. Thanks!

  • This is fantastic! I wish I could try it, but no, I have short bangs. :(

But maby with the black long wig I'm going to buy and style for my maiko cosplay! ;D

  • Wow ! Thats great !!! Geishas are my obsessions !!! Haha

  • Wow ! That was really Neat! I wish I would have seen this or had it been around in Oct. I had a Birthday party Japanese style and I bought wig. It was way to small but, there was no time to send it back . So, I made do. It wasn't anywhere near as your nice hair do. Great work! Next years party theme is a Night In Old Venice. I have to find a wild do for that. Any sugestions? Thanks, San Antonio Rose.

  • wow that was amazing...! thanks for the upload!

  • 7:29 i like that...

  • Since it was my first try at geisha hair, it took me three hours to do. Bangs and long hairs on the neck are a nuisance, as well as really long hair. Thank you for uploading this, as I have finally accomplished a geisha hairstyle.

  • Thank you! @MsSaraMurray19

  • Ah! How lovely. And a really helpful tutorial. I hope to use it on my model for a photography project, but her hair is about shoulder length. Would your technique still work?

  • Very Nice. This video is one of the best I've seen so far.

  • @catloveraries Thank you very much :)

  • I used this tutorial for my costume contest while I was being a geisha, and I won.. Thanks so much!!!~~

  • @rosypeou18 That's fantastic!! :) Thank YOU for using my tutorial.. :) And Congratulations on winning the contest! That's awesome! :)

  • Amazing hair tutorial! You did a great job, it's lovely! Thank you so much for this video.

  • @MissKierie99 Thank you very much and you're very welcome! :) Thank you for watching!

  • Muchacha, eres tremendamente talentosa, gracias por este tutorial

  • @CIBERNAUTAS8 Gracias! :)

  • you did a really good job :)

  • @darkjapanesegirl18 Thank you very much :)

  • u know they used to use hot wax instead of hairspray in the era of the Geishas

  • @XdeathinabottleX Yes... I researched a guy who makes "Geisha" wigs and he uses wax and explained about it. Crazy but whatever works to get those unruly hairs down! :) hehe Thank you for the fun fact! :)

  • @XdeathinabottleX

They still use wax for Geisha hairstyles

  • a) thats a MAIKO doll, not a geisha, B) its not really correct >__>

so please change GEISHA into; Maiko inspired... T___T

  • @xxHartBrokenxx You know, it doesn't really matter. Most people don't know what a maiko is anyway. And, if you think about it, geisha has become sort of a collective term for geisha, geiko, maiko, etc.

  • @MadDuckInc151 Thank you MadDuckInc151! :) I agree with you ;) Thanks!

  • @xxHartBrokenxx - My mistake, but for 'searching' purposes Geisha is easiest to look for. Besides, it's a costume look. Thanks for your input though.

  • Did you know that a geisha who wears her hair with a red band has sold her mizuage (virginity) and is a full-fledged woman at that point?

  • @roxi23791 That's very interesting and no, I did not know that. :) Thanks for the fun fact! :)

  • Wow, you would have a great career in hairstyling. Great job! I love that you used music from Memoirs of a Geisha.

  • @MadDuckInc151 I'm glad you enjoyed it! :) And yes... I figured it was the right type of music to go along with it since I didn't talk :) Thanks again!

  • i really like this song. this kind of music is what i like to listen to in the morning and late afternoons. i <3 your hair. wish the screen was bigger though.

  • @aintyobabydaddy984 Thank you very much! :)

  • Lady, AMAZING tutorial, but can you show how you seperated your hair into the five sections? and maybe SLOW IT DOWN A NOTCH!!!!!

  • @Rosamund2828 I had to speed it up because the time issue. If it was slower, there would have been 2 or 3 videos and I figured that was pointless. :) But thank you.

  • wow! that's simply great! I have ordered a kimono for the masquerade and now will start learning your hairdo!)))

  • @Albinka22 Thanks sweetie! That's fantastic! Hope it comes out great!!! I'm sure the overall look will look great! :)

  • This was a great technique and tutorial. You did a fantastic job!

  • @chrissis111 Thank you very much! :)

  • Hey! this is the closest Geisha hair tutorial i have ever seen! you wanna know why you kept spraying your hair like that? thats because - in ancient times - these geisha's used to pour boiling wax on their hair then style it really fast before the wax dries - that is how they achieved those really shiny - really stiff - up-dos. you could actually feel the hair die as they do those! and that is the reason why ancient Japanese women sleep on those stiff wooden pillows! you've done an amazing feat!

  • @khearen Thank you very much. Before I did this tutorial I watched a man making Geisha wigs and from there I got a general idea of how smoothed out the hair should look. The Geisha doll was my inspiration though. :) And thank you again so much for your comment! :) Glad you enjoyed watching! :)

  • This was so helpful. Hopefully i can find this again if I need it.

  • @MillicentChancake - Thank you... it'll be here if/when you need it! :)

  • I agree, best and easiest geisha hair. Tease and pin, tease and pin

  • @knx86 Thanks.. and yes.. tease, pin, spray, tease, pin, spray! :)

  • Truly beautiful the best Geisha hairs yet!!!

  • @MrOrenjininja Thank you so very much! :)

  • @jaguilar81 You are very welcome...I can finally wear my hairs like Geisha all thanks to you!! ^ ^

  • @MrOrenjininja Thank you...:)

  • u are so amazing gurl...

  • @ARMZ87 Thank you very much :)

  • OK... this seems straightforward and it's reasurring that you have tons of hair, since I do too ^^. Going to try it out tomorrow for a japan themed birthday party. Thank you for making this video :)

  • @ginger05 I hope your hair comes out fantastic! :) Thanks for the comment! :)

  • Damn girl you have a ton of hair

  • @Veetoria Oh you're most welcome! I hope your shoot goes splendid! :) Have fun and thanks for watching! :)

  • Really good tips, thanks :)

  • You're welcome! Thank you! :)

  • The best video I have seen about how to make your own geisha hair! Amazing!

  • Thank you very much! :)

  • I'm depressed that this doesn't have more views. I've been looking for how to do geisha hair and by far you're the best. Thanks so much for this. ^_^

  • Aww well thank you so much. :) That's so sweet of you! :)

  • Alrighty then I'll get working on that ;)

  • This is BY FAR the best video to learn how to do geisha hair! I did my friends and my hair following this tutuorial and it came out pretty epic. Although my friend has uber long hair and I have pretty short hair it worked all the same. If you want I can post a response video to show how I made my short hair into geisha hair. ;)

  • I think that is a Brilliant idea! Yes please! I would love to see how it came out!! :) Great job!

  • I've seen a few tutorials on this, but yours is the only one to give realistic advice on how to get the much needed body that I've seen so far. Thanks!

  • Aww thanks hun, you're very welcome!

  • :D You just saved me!! :DD Thank you!! Lol I loved it, Good job.

  • You're welcome! :) And thank you too! :)

  • Wow that was amazing. My friend and I are going to be Geisha for Hallowe'en and I can't wait! Thank you!

  • That's awesome!! Take pics and Good Luck! :) Hope you have fun! :)

  • Wow nice. I don't have long enough hair, but I'm hoping by Halloween my hair will be long enough to do this with my kimono dress. :)

  • I hope by that time you will look like an awesome Geisha! :) Good luck and thank you!

  • great tutorial - just can't get it to work on my stoopid hair!!

  • Thank you... what's wrong with your hair? :(

  • Great Job on the hairstyle! I never thought about using that "thumb roll" technique - and I'd say you've got that technique perfected - I tried doing the back of my head and just can't get it! *lol*

  • Thanks Hun. When I did this hairstyle it was a 1st take lol and I figured that rolling the hair would be easiest instead of making a regular bufon (sp) But thank you! Practice practice practice! I'm sure you'll get it! :) Good luck, and if you need help..it never hurts to ask :) Have a great day!

  • I wish that my hair was that long so I wouldn't have to wear a wig! Excellent and creative tutorial.

  • Thank you very much :0)

  • OMG..Love your video you so funny girl...I guess that it was really hard to do, cause i think we had the same type of hair (long and straight) and i have to work a lot and when i get finish i'm so tired hahaha. Thank you very much i gonna try to do this for Carnival parties here in Venezuela, we have a big parade in a town call San Diego (is like a Mini Brazil) Hugs¡¡¡

  • My hair is permed so I had to straighten it out, but naturally it is long and straight! I wish you the best of luck with the look! I'm positive it'll come out fantastic! :0) Thank you for your wonderful comment! Take much care! :0) Have fun!

  • who's the musician? nice tune.

  • I hope it turned out great! :)

  • omg this was so helpful. i am being a geisha and now i know what to do with my hair. i dont know how you can do that . i would really need somone to do that for me. good job:):):)

  • I hope someone can help you with the hairstyle! Don't doubt yourself... everyone is possible of many things! Just try! :) Good luck with the hair! :0) Happy Halloween!

  • Wow that is amazing. Great job. I am going as a geisha but I don't have that long enough hair. Maybe next year :-)

  • Maybe you can do smaller rolls or even improvise as suggested below.. :)

  • thank you SO much, girl. You don't know how long I've been looking for a decent tutorial for the Geisha 'do' without it being 'okay, now take your wig...' or something. Like people don't have real hair anymore!

Anyway, I'll Definitely take pictures... thanks a bunch for naming the products and things you used. BIG help! <3

  • No Worries... I know what it's like trying to guess what people have used. lol Good luck with the look! Don't forget your pics! Happy Halloween!

  • You did an amazing job! This video really helps me create the geisha hairstyle I want. All the other videos I've seen were not nearly as helpful as this :)

  • You are most welcome Hun! Hope it comes out awesome!!! Take pics! :) Happy Halloween!

  • do you think u can put hairspray in a wig??

  • Wow! Best geisha hairsyle tutorial I've ever seen! I sure hope my hair is enough.

    Really pretty!

  • Aww thank you! Best luck... dont' forget to take pictures! :0)

  • what if you dont have bangs? can i just skip the bang part all together?

  • My bangs were pretty choppy. If you want you can just separate that front part off and still do it. If you want to skip I'm sure it'll still look good..you'll just have the missing front part. Everyone has their own style.. try it without the bangs.. it could come out fantastic!

  • by the way your vid is really good ive been trying to make a geisha on a wig and it was impossible i guest the trick is to roll...DON'T FORGET THE BOBBY PINS :p

  • I was wondering do you think we can use hair spray on a wig?

  • best I have seen too bad I need this do in like a week and my hair is too short T^T

  • I'm sorry. :( Well I replied to someone a couple comments below of things they can do to try to create this look also. But depending on how short your hair is, you might have to use a wig instead :( I hope it works out in your favor though! You still have a week! :0) Be hopeful! Good luck!

  • THAT was the best tutorial I have seen so far for Geisha inspired hair, and trust me I have looked. I think I have gone through at least a dozen videos so far. Thanks so much for posting this, it's a lot of help. ^_^

  • Thank you! Yeah I figured I'd take my try at a different style, rather than just a 'bun' look. I'm glad that you found this useful! Take care and good luck with the look! :)

  • the best ive seen! thnx a million!

  • You're very welcome! Thank you also! :0)

  • thanks so much!

  • You are most welcome! :0)

  • this was soo good. i'm sad that i don't have as much hair as you to recreate this hairstyle and do it justice but i'm gonna try it anyway!! thanks! :)

  • You can use a fake hair piece/wig, and wrap it in a hair net, roll it into a cylinder shape and pin that to your head, then just over lap some hair over that. I hope it comes out fantastic!! :0) Good luck!!

  • Thanks for the tips!! :) I really appreciate it.

  • Wow, you must have used a million bobby pins :)

Now I know what I'm going to be for Halloween, thanks to you! :D

    Great tutorial :)

  • 57 To be exact! lol I'm glad it will be of use to you! Take pics! :0) Happy Early Halloween!
