i would refrain from purchasing hard drives in batches like that. I'm not faulting you, but I have walked into a server room to find that 3 drives failed at the same time, and more later that week.
...Wow. I watched you install some hard drives, grabbed the clippers, watched you install a couple more, clipped one hand's nails, noticed you decided to sit, finished clipping my nails, and finally noticed you still weren't done fast-forward installing drives. Massive props to your patience. I would have been contemplating a faster method after the first 5.
wow... if google.com needs to replace their whole storage system and ask this guy or his company to supply new storage servers as shown here.. how long will it take?
Timelapse frames taken from this video would have been better than just watching the whole video.
Our place is requiring 20+Tb so this is good news. However, we have a 14disk SAN and thats NOT light! so an array with this may disks in going to be VERY heavy and should have be mounted/eathed before inserting the drives! ..which leaves you with archiving 21Tb ? ...
I hope your grounded installing that many HDD's. i have only been unfortunate enough to bust one HDD before. Now whenever i install new componants all they are stored on the bags and i have a anti static mat and wrist band
dude, if any linux distribution is installed on that, no defrag needed. Linux file system, ext3 and ext2 does not fragment. Ext4 was known for some reliability problems, but still... no windows habbits for linux-based servers :)
@pazks723 Yes but if done regularly it should be OK and with modern Windows OS defrag is scheduled. Well it also depends on how often date is written/deleted too... ^^'
Looks like fun but, I lost interest in the first minute. I probably would have watched the entire thing if there had been some narration or music. This video just needs a soundtrack.
what was the ratio of real time and the time in the video

To bad out of all of those you can expect at least 3 off the bat then at least another 4 to fail in the first 3 months.
