I think that both Beyonce and Brandy are very talented artists and have two different ranges and tones in their singing. However, listening to both versions I love the way Brandy feels this song-- maybe it's because she wrote it, or maybe it is just a better fit for her vocally. On the other hand, Beyonce's version was just words with a vibrato or two thrown in there. This isn't to say that Beyonce isn't a phenomenal singer-- because she is, but I personally prefer the way Brandy sings it.
What I really like...what Brandy did with this song, is that she put in just enough background vocals so the song wouldn't be empty...man, quite a bit of life she gave to it!

I honestly can't see how anyone can think beyonce did better on this song...She oversings just about ANY song she sings, which is what she did on this one, and she just made it feel all wrong...no passion at all...her rough and raunchy tones and attacks are just no good...slow love is supposed to be smooth and sensual...Brandy gives those emotions and makes the lyrics have true meaning, unlike beyonce.

As much as I LOVE Bey, I like Brandy's version better. It's just something about the raspy voice...really distinct. Both singers made it their own and it is by NO means a blowout. Bey still rocks and I'd be content listening to either version as both artist are immensely talented.

I think that both Beyonce and Brandy are very talented artists and have two different ranges and tones in their singing. However, listening to both versions I love the way Brandy feels this song-- maybe it's because she wrote it, or maybe it is just a better fit for her vocally. On the other hand, Beyonce's version was just words with a vibrato or two thrown in there. This isn't to say that Beyonce isn't a phenomenal singer-- because she is, but I personally prefer the way Brandy sings it.
