  • where can I get a mix of the whole album like this?

  • I never liked Metallica, but this is one of the few songs that make my day that they do.

  • Around 5:20, I never knew Jason did a harmony line...very cool. This bass mix is spot-on. NOW WAY it's too loud. It's just that we've been listening to how crappy and dry the original mix has been all these years.

  • This is cool but for me bass is too loud here...

  • god the breakdown sounds so much better with the bass!!

  • that's a pretty cool bass line. never knew it existed.

  • And Justice For Jason... (;

  • U have admit this and black album was there best guitar sound..its all intense and shit

  • Idc if Metallica release Lulu and some of the songs on ReLoad, They Kick Ass.

  • ...and that is why they brought the bass down.

  • Jason created 200+ accounts to like this...

  • This sounds soooo much better with the bass turned up like this!! Awesome!

  • -accidentally clicks the promoted video Victorious- Fuck! Back to Metallica........

  • Look on the description...Download here:

    hahahahahaha!

  • the top comments are the same. i wonder why??

  • @savageblue25 cuz, And Justice For Jason

  • ...And Justice For Jason

  • ...And Justice For Jason

  • Perhaps the best metal track of all time!

  • beautiful fury!!!!!!!!!!

  • @renndub ....no.

  • @renndub Ha! Where the hell would you get that idea?

  • @renndub How the heck would that be on played on bass? That doesn't even make sense

  • @renndub actually your the idiot one since the intro was played on the guitar and the bass is not played until the end of the intro solo......

  • @spikezkid022 oh really? and i suppose you were there in the recording studio that particular day in the late 80s?

  • @renndub you dont actually have to be in the recording to actually know if the intro was played on the guitar since its very obvious for people with good ears that the intro sounds like a guitar......

  • @spikezkid022 What???

  • @MegaJam86 what???? o_O

  • I'm not a big fan of Metallica (in fact I'm really NOT a fan), but this album really kicks ass. And it would be 10 times better with normal bass.

  • @SgtZaqq you gotta be a fan if you think the album kicks ass

  • @pokerkid031 you won't believe, but I was a Metallica hater for a long time. Then I realized this band has some cool songs, but not so cool as people think... But whatever, AJFA is an interesting album. It has good lyrics and good guitar/drum lines.

  • Man i wish i could have heard the bass track about 11 years ago when i was trying to learn it for the band i was in back then..... it all makes sense now

  • Comment removed

  • @sodaspider It just follows the guitars.. the root of the song,, pretty basic actually...

But it does sound 110 times better WITH A DAMN BASSLINE... Metal licka are idiots for scoping Jason out of the mix...But what do you expect from a deuchnozzle like Lars...

  • Every remaster i've heard has too much bass. No one can make a perfect version with just the right amount. So i'll stick with the album version.

  • this sounds like shit:$

  • There is actually a remastered album titled "And Justice For Jason." Google it.

  • @Adam12088 im to lazy

  • To me, Metallica will always be THIS. The first 4 albums. I don't give a crap about the present, nor the future. 83-88. That's what people that really care will remember and enjoy in eternity.

  • @ValidSmite

Lol, not much time left for the world.

  • @ValidSmite What about the Black Album?

  • @MasterFeradon Black Album sucks!

  • @b51dido Well, I don't think so. :D

  • @Emperor1986000

Someone logical, call the youtube police!

  • Jason should beat the shit outta Kirk Hammet

  • The bass sounds horrible now I know why they cut it. The only part the bass is acceptable is at 3:53 in the song all the way to the end. The bass in the earlier part of the song totally screws with the melodic sound of the song up until 3:53.

  • @jake01258 No, go away.. ;) It sounds perfect!

  • @jake01258

    You're a complete faggario.

  • @jake01258 As far as I can tell, the guy who posted this just took the original and slapped an EQ boost on the lower frequencies. That's why the kick drum sounds like shit. If he'd done it a little more judiciously, he'd have left the bass lower until the distorted guitars kicked in at 3:53, like you said.

  • Dear god this sounds amazing

  • @whyusucksobad It is, isn't it? Let all these others run their gators about this and that. I just crank it up and headbang like back in the 80's!!

  • Years later still EPIC!, still play air guitar to this and still the forearm gets super dangerously tense like a mother at the heavy machine gun part. so epic.... this is how i remember you metallica R.I.P

  • Made the thrashy ending sound massive!!!!

  • very good!!

  • This version sounds great, a little bit better than orginal :) thanks for upload

  • Bob Rock wrote and recorded all of the bass parts on the album St. Anger.

  • @Emperor1986000 ur just pissed cause u know im right

  • @Vidabonds nah bro, u wrong, Jason was great, i wont lie, Cliff was Amazing, but just cause he died it dont mean Metallica took a turn for the worse, infact, they actually stayed on the same road as they were with Cliff when Jason came, when Jason left, they went down hill a bit with no records, then St. Anger came out with Trujillo, which was fukin awesome, but that didnt do well, then Death Magnetic came Out, even better. And Seeing how Metallica is Still World Touring and Selling Out Shows

  • @Vidabonds id say there doing pretty good

  • @Emperor1986000 while Cliff was in Metallica he was a very vital songwritter that help them create 3 of the best metal records of all time and the best songs of Metallica's lifespan. jason cant compare to Cliff's song writting ability or his stage presence or to the simple task of being beneficial to the band. metallica took a turn for the worse after Cliff passed and they will never be the same. He left a legacy and set the bar to a level that cant be reached by any bassist

  • @Emperor1986000 how bout this. both guys rock the bass and robert is kind of a douch....like u

  • dude this has already been settled so why bring it back up? people have there own opinions and cause mine is different u call me a poser? i been playin bass for 9 years and listenin to metallica all my life yes jason is good dont get me wrong i just like cliff better because he has more style so stfu and have a nice day:D

  • jason is a very good bassist

  • i just saw this live in abu dhabi yesterday!

  • I remember when this album first came out me and my friends used to joke that the bass sounded like bee farts because it was so low in the mix.

  • I don't know how you did it but this actually sounds better than the album released.

  • Jason is by far the best bassist they ever had and I can realize that just now

  • @hasegawamiki are you retarded? burton was by far the greatest bassist not only for metallica but easily one of the best of all time. and if u disagree just listen to orion and it will show u how talented that man was. RIP BURTON

  • @mcderpball01 Sorry, might have gotten retarded after getting my degree on music.

Burton is over rated cause he died. He was very sloppy.

  • @hasegawamiki even if burton was sloppy at times it was style man which is all the bass is really about and i just cause u have a degree in music doesnt mean you know everything about music. im sure there are people out in the world that know way more bout music than both of us combined and there hippies with no life. and just to add a lil more into this i play bass and outta the two styles of bass cliffs not only is alot of fun to learn but sounds amazing

  • @mcderpball01 Just no, man. No.

  • @hasegawamiki aight well ill stick to my opinion that cliff would ass rape jason in a bass battle and u can keep ur opinion. sound good?

  • @mcderpball01 Indeed, it's always opinions =)

  • @hasegawamiki and one last thing as a bassist i have learned over the years that if u play bass and only use a pick (jason) makes the bass way easier to play and sounds kinda boring cause there is no feeling to it. unlike someone who finger picks (burton) there is more feeling and more of a unique sound to it. and then the assholes like claypool who can slap anything and is just nutty but were not talkin bout him

  • I just listend to the original and I can hear jasons bass just fine

  • the bassline that kicks in with the outro riff at 5:20 ish, i don't like it, it works against the riff, ooh nice bass on the first solo of the outro thoguh

  • epic sound!!!!!

  • sounds so much more full...metallica had a great sounding album but could have had an EPIC sound with some real bass in the mix...

  • listening to his actually pisses me off a bit. I mean why did they shorthand Jason here? This is excellent stuff ):

  • @bigredphenom Lars and James were acting like children and thought "This guy thinks he can waltz in here and replace OUR Cliff? Don't think so. Let's show him that he needs to earn his place by lowering his bass playing in the album mix so low that you'd think there wasn't any bass at all".

Obviously they never actually said that, but the idea that they were pretty much on their high horses and didn't want Jason to think he had a free ride is true.

  • ... And Justice For Jason

  • @dumbasshit123 and jason for all O_o

  • @dumbasshit123 Yes Jason is good guitariste but Cliff is a god of !

  • GRUBY DEDYKUJE TOBIE

  • finally

  • I thought the only bass in this song was the bass drum

  • ...And Justice For Jason.

  • the bassline is the shit off of guitar hero *facepalm*

  • @theycalledmebob ...You know the "shit from guitar hero" is the original bass track, right?

  • @KashiwaDaisuke no actually its an overdub since the original track is really quiet

  • @theycalledmebob You don't understand. The original bass track was simply made louder. No overdubbing here.

  • @KashiwaDaisuke the original bass track has a lot more to it, this is just some one else's recording, i know newsted's style of playing and this is not it, he uses a lot of octave notes on parts such as the clean intro and the fast E's at around 4:35 if you even go and find some of those cherry lane score/tab books that they sell in samash you will see what im talking about

  • @theycalledmebob watch?v=wfuHxpnijYM

It's the exact same bass track.

  • @KashiwaDaisuke watch?v=-GMTFQtLtrw&feature=related read what the uploader said in the comments

  • @theycalledmebob The Guitar Hero track IS the original track. That's why it sounds stupid when you say "this shit is from guitar hero".

  • @theycalledmebob look in a cherry lane tab book for and justice for all album and listen to the track you will see a big difference, so many notes missing

  • the song that got me into Metallica

  • @Megadeth4life2 yeah man! me too... since then i've become such a huge fan...

  • @LamboLighting i still remember the day. got a cd from my uncle with a bunch of different metal songs on it. listened to this song and got completely blown away

  • @Megadeth4life2 cool.. i was at a friends house about 3 years ago when he put this on youtube. i was left totally speechless :P

  • I F****** Love This Song. Has So Many Great Memorys....

  • ...And Justice for Jason

  • Metallica fans will talk shit all day long and for generations to come and there are a thousand things we'll never agree on, but we can all agree that AJFA needs a bass re-release! Seriously, just slap the bass over it, easiest re-master ever.

Fans will be happy & Metallica makes money and sells a few more records.

    Everybody wins! What gives?

  • @MarkArandjus Well its Jason's playing and hes no longer in the band sadly and its would be stupid to get the new guy play it.

  • @Awayze Too bad they burned Jason's bass tracks and destroyed all the copies forever and they don't exist any more. Oh wait, they didn't. In fact Jason's tracks were used in Guitar Hero Metallica, they obviously still exist.

Here, thy're on YouTube even, how do oy uthink these bassv ersion are made?

    /watch?v=9uOoPogFUjo

So if they exist why even bother getting a new guy or even Jason, they could just paste these original authentic into the song and equalize a bit - mission accomplished!

  • @Awayze his name is rob

  • @MarkArandjus you got it man. what they did to the bass on this was just BS. This album was cool in my book, good percussion sound BUT no good bass. Assholes! If they released it how it should have been this probably would have been my favorite.

  • And Justice For Jason...

  • @ethai1 Yep bro.

  • @ethai1 This made me smile

  • @tehpeasant I'm glad this made you smile :)

  • I think the clean bits should have been left clean... other than that this is incredible!

  • danananana....danananana...danananana...danananana

  • idk i liked the original more but this is still great

  • this sounds beatiful! not to much bass, like i the video i watched before this one!lovley!!

  • who mixed the original album should be shot

  • @Vomtu100 Then shoot your heroes, James Hetfield and Lars Ulrich !

  • So how was it that you got the bass in the song?

  • The bass is too loud.

And when is the bass too loud?

    When you can hear it.

  • @furorz : you know when you get the bass sound right when you can hear the bass but its not over powering everything else.

  • Bass isnt loud enough.

  • 3 people DIDN'T want extra bass with their Metallica.

  • @Kendallblakecruse I'm a Bassist and I ALWAYS Speak about the importance about THE BASS!!!!!

ALSO THIS IS MY FAVORITE SONG AND MY FAVORITES BASS LINES!!!!

  • I didn't know that 480p videos have a higher audio bitrate too

  • IT just gives more power to the song! TFU !

  • @ericmarshall19 Kill yourself. Now.

  • @Kendallblakecruse Fact: You're 100% correct!

  • @Kendallblakecruse Two Gallants and the White Stripes say hi

  • @idiotsrus92 The white stripes used a bass effect on Blue Orchid ;)

  • wow at first Im trying to find where the bass is and then when I listen to this with only bass on I can hear it loud and clear lol :D

  • @Levygerards1 Thats just fucking embarrasing man.

  • why would metallica mute the bass lines for this album? i know they were upset cliff died, but thats not what cliff would have wanted... anyway this is a pretty cool bass line

  • @ATY9Productions i agree with you 100%

  • ok, there are more tighter and faster metal bands, but metallica has some classics, and they are imo unbeatable

  • 5:15 sounds SO much darker and raunchier with the enhanced bass

  • @helljumper91 same here. But it's still a badass song

  • I think the bass is a bit too loud for this song but thats just me.

    Good addition though.

  • And Justice for Jason

  • fucken awesome man :))

  • the HI HAT has some pretty annoying high frequencies as much as the whole track..

that's the weirdness of that album, but clearly that Mixdown attempt is cliping and distorting

  • Holy shit.

  • you have remaster the guitars too, so it will sound better

  • @MeatFeastLive yeah i geuss it is personal liking. personaly i dont like it much. jason gets very heavy on the strings with that pick. but whatever

  • Nice idea of adding bass to eat, I'm sure it sounds great, with just the bass track but you have mastered it like a retarded fucker. It's worse then their latest album. Shame on you! The bass takes over the whole song.... FU for bringing disgrace to Metallica ;(

Good work though, but master your EQ and Compressor next time baby <3

  • well, this song become 1000x more badass with bass, rather than without it.

    Jason rocks~!

  • this is great

  • i think that the bass should of been turned down but not off like the final edit of justice...and not this high. Jason needs to pick softer, it would reduce the sound of his pick hitting the strings. Im not saying jason is crap, i think he is good but im this album the picking is to aggressive.

  • @TheHorribleGuitarist the album itself is meant to be aggressive. well, except for the acoustic part on this

  • Comment removed

  • @Levygerards1 it was because jason's pick sounded crap back then

  • The bass elevates the song

  • Comment removed

  • so this is what one sounds like with bass... pretty awesome

  • Sucks so much, they didnt do more thrash albums after Justice.

After hearing all songs with added bass i can easily say Jason is talented and awesome.

I hope they re-release this album but this time with FUCKING BASS!

  • bass can never be too loud

  • @Levygerards1 actually jason is much tighter than cliff on bass, if you bother to see all their stuff.

  • bass is way too loud

  • tone down the bass just a little bit, it's a bit too overpowering... but sounds sooo good with bass. feel like i'm hearing one for the first time

  • Great bassline, never even knew it existed.

  • Jason bass playing when he was in Floatsam & Jetsam was as epic as Cliffs IMHO

  • I think metfan4l's version is better, but now I have to listen to your version cause the other one is not available in Germany anymore. YouTube can go to hell. -.-

  • So much better.
