how did they kill off Mike (Tim Considine)? "LIKED HER CAKE" I think he preferred her hair pie ... "Pecan LAY HER cake"! I get it food euphemisms! LMAO
@Shubael1809 There was a transition season (I think the show's last on ABC) when Mike was engaged to Sally, played by the late Meredith MacRae, who later played the third and final Billie Jo on Petticoat Junction. During that year, Ernie was seen as a friend of Chip. Ernie was a foster child staying with a family in the neighborhood. Just as Mike and Sally married and moved away, Steve adopted Ernie. I think the show moved from ABC to CBS and went to color the same year.
@Shubael1809 (Continuation of previous post) Best I remember, the B&W shows were not released into reruns in the 1970s and 80s. The earliest show in the package opens at Mike and Sally's wedding reception. As they leave the church, the rest of the family remains, including the newly adopted Ernie.
I never saw many of the ABC episodes because my hometown did not even have a full time ABC affiliate until at least a year after M3S started.
"A hunk of my pecan layer cake...". Reminds me of another show about the same time, "Leave it to Beaver." The Beav and Wally are having some cake after school, and one of them asks the other if he wants a hunk of milk with his hunk of cake.

Respond to this video... My mistake, sorry. Flashing the money making website on the bottom at the start of each part would be a better option.
