Ok, sigh - if you are over 5 years old and are obsessed with the personnel change in a children's band, aren't you just a little embarrassed? If you aren't, you should be. I watch these videos and the Wiggles are part of my life because I have a 2 1/2 year old sitting on my lap. Please, get a life...
@Xcoming2 - As an atheist , I don't see anything wrong here. Sure, it might have been better if they had changed the lyric, but "lord" doesn't HAVE to mean god. One could explain it as a man with leading power.
when i was young i watched the wiggles and i grew up with greg. but i just started watching wiggle's videos again and i think that sam is very good at singing. i like both greg and sam cause i have songs with both them as the lead and i like them all.
What is wrong with some people...as long as the kids love it thats all that matters...who cares if it greg or sam...god I wonder why some people are so childish especially adults.
Don't people have better things to fight about than the wiggles? I think there are more pressing matters in this world than the changing of a lead singer for a kid show.
@ILUVlupin this song is also sang as a gospel song during the old days.. try searching the old versions.. they didn't write this song, this song is included in the wiggles album featuring nursery rhymes (get it? songs that are already existing?)
This is best song ever created, total genius, who ever made this should get laid by every hot chick in the world, or vice bersa if a chick created it. But I would feel sorry if he is singing this to the person he is getting laid by :O
If you're worried about the "messages" your child is receiving through The Wiggles music, you should strongly consider getting rid of the computer you used to post your comments and homeschooling your child. The Wiggles are the least of your worries.
I'm not an insane person who doesn't want my child to learn science because it conflicts with my archaic view of reality. Public schools will do fine.

if the wiggles ever maybe just say..watched this and saw the comments - dont worry! all hose thumbs down are the same people doing it every day - they have no life you see.

I didn't know the wiggles sang religious songs. Shame. It's hard to find stuff for my daughter that doesn't have christian music dabbled throughout... same with Raffi.
The Wiggles have recorded many religiously themed songs. "Dry Bones" is considered to be an old Sunday School song. And then there is "Uncle Noah's Ark." And of course, there are religious songs all throughout "Wiggly, Wiggly Christmas," "Yule Be Wiggling," and "Santa's Rockin.'" There is also a reenactment of the Nativity story.
This would hurt her the same way a Christian parent would feel that a song with a strong atheist message is detrimental to their child. I don't want her to think she has to "Heed the word of the Lord."
I don't really care about a story's origin if it carries a good lesson. "Do what your supernatural master tells you to do," is not one of those stories.
What's so wrong if she heeds the word of the Lord. It says not to steal, kill, lie, cheat, commit adultry. The world would be a better place if more people would heed these words.
So the world would be a better place if we brainwashed our children into believing the rules of a mythical man in the sky? Plenty of studies show that religious thinking is lazy thinking. You accept what you read and only pay attention to what supports your beliefs. You don't challenge your thoughts (because that'd be the opposite of "faith").
I don't want any child of mine to to let someone else take responsibility for their thoughts and morals.
@theblasto How is it brainwashing to believe in something bigger than yourself? Instead, you are brainwashing your child by not letting her hear messages like these. Plenty of studies?! Where is your proof? I'm sure all of these "studies" have been conducted by atheists and liberals, how biased of you. I find it ironic that you say Christian thinking is lazy thinking when we are persecuted and ridiculed every single day for our beliefs, I hardly think that's lazy.
You think you are persecuted every day? There are government positions in this country ILLEGAL for an atheist to hold. Do you understand the gravity of that? My country will not let me hold a particular office because I don't subscribe to any religion. That's unpatriotic and frightening.
You are not being persecuted. You are being told to keep your religion where it belongs. Not in government. Not in schools. That's not persecution. Those are rules we all agree on as a country.
@theblasto You don't know me, therfore you know nothing of my persecution. Christians have been tortured and martyred throughout all history for believing and it still happens as well as the ever present shooting of those who believe. Name the job that it is illegal for an athiest to hold. I'd loved to hear about it. It is a preacher's position because I find that interesting! In truth, I agree with that perspective. Athiest have no moral standard to which they must hold themselves.
In the United States, seven state constitutions officially include religious tests that would effectively prevent atheists from holding public office.
I take great offense to your comment about not having a moral standard. Christians do not have a monopoly on morals. In fact, it can be argued that you have no morals since none originate from within you.
Morals are doing what you believe despite what someone tells you.
Religion is doing what someone tells you despite what you believe.
@theblasto Religion is NOT doing what someone tells you despite what you believe, obviously you wouldn't follow this someone unless you believed. That was an idiot statement. As far as the rest, I really don't care if it offends you. It seems that is quite easy to do. A simple children's song with a great message offends you, letting your child hear other viewpoints offends you. Get a tougher skin.
I was never offended by the song. You seem to enjoy exaggerating and molding my words. I said it was a shame that this song was sullied by creepy religious statements. I was never offended.
You are a bible-believing Christian, correct? All of your morals come a singular, unchanging source. The odds that you already believed ALL of the same things before studying the bible is laughable. So you must have TAKEN your moral code FROM the bible and your religion.
@theblasto Ahh, just as you seem to enjoy taking things that aren't fact and pretending they are. You seem deeply offended by the song to refer to it as "creepy religious statements". I did not TAKE anything, I follow the moral STANDARD I believe is right which is also laid out in the Bible. What I have said all along. Who is twisting words now?
@theblasto Again, you give no proof. What seven states? What clause in the consitution? Is that clause active? Give me a link. Has the clause ever been used against someone (an Athiest). What job position is it. You spout all this without any proof whatsoever. You cite things without ever citing them. Oh, and the morals I never said that Athiests have no morals. I said and I still believe that they don't have a moral STANDARD.
I'm sorry for my mistake. It's actually 8 states. TX, AR, MA, MD, NC, PA, SC and TN
As an example, this is from the official Texas Constitution:
Sec. 4. RELIGIOUS TESTS. No religious test shall ever be required as a qualification to any office, or public trust, in this State; nor shall any one be excluded from holding office on account of his religious sentiments, provided he acknowledge the existence of a Supreme Being.
"...provided he acknowledge the existence of a Supreme Being...."
@theblasto Again, has this clause ever been used against someone? There are many laws that are outdated that aren't used or never have been used but they are still in existence. This still does not compare the deaths, and tortures that have been committed against Christians. This whole sub-debate started with you saying Christian thinking is lazy thinking. I proved that it is not because of the persecution Christians face.
"This whole sub-debate started with you saying Christian thinking is lazy thinking. I proved that it is not because of the persecution Christians face."
WHAT? That makes no sense at ALL. How does this supposed persecution have anything to do with laziness?
And the only persecution you face, in reality, is made up. You're most likely confusing your sense of majority entitlement with persecution. Give me an example or two of your persecution, in case I'm completely missing your point.
@theblasto Lazy thinking is thinking which requires no thought or effort. It is easy. Christianity requires effort and thought and is never easy. The persecution we face ensures that Christianity will never be lazy thinking because persecution is not easy. Is that clear enough for you?
I have to think for myself. 100%. You do not. You get your beliefs and your morals from the bible and your church. This does not require you to figure them out for yourself. Even if you take the time to try and confirm them.
@theblasto I have to think through it and decide whether or not I will follow them. This requires thought. Just as you do not run red lights (hopefully) because someone else created them and told you not to. You choose to follow this because you have thought about and decided it is right.
Good analogy about the red lights. I'll give you that.
That being said.... You just happen to agree with everything in the bible? We're not talking about a single traffic law. We're talking about an entire book of ancient laws and stories. So confirm this for me. Do you believe everything in the bible is true? And do you agree with the judgments and rules made in the bible?
@theblasto Yes, I agree with everything in the Bible. I may not understand it all because I am not God but I trust in it. You may not agree with every law but you still follow them all (hopefully) not just the ones you agree with. And I'm not saying it's easy, sometimes obscure laws we have to follow today seem completely ridiculous and pointless. I still follow them. Sometimes something God wants me to do is hard but I still do my best to do it. But I am not perfect and of course make mistakes.
I hope then that you carry out the following. And don't give me that Old/New testament argument. Your 10 commandments are from the old testament.
"And the man that committeth adultery with [another] man's wife, [even he] that committeth adultery with his neighbour's wife, the adulterer and the adulteress shall surely be put to death." Leviticus 20:10
@theblasto SOME of the old testament is no longer needed. It is up to Christians to use their independent thought that you so proudly tout to decide which is which. This verse is from the Old Testament.
@theblasto No. I must as a free thinking Christian individual study the Bible and pray for guidance to know what is meant throughout the Bible. Must I go into the entire explanation of how when Jesus died he was the perfect sacrifice and other sacrifices for sins were no longer needed? I assumed that as a previous sunday school teacher you would already be aware of this. I don't toss out anything, I no longer use what is no longer needed.
@theblasto Everyone needs guidance because no person is all knowing. That's what teachers are for. Do you consider math confusing nonsense? Yet didn't you need teachers to teach you how to use it correctly and efficiently?
@theblasto A simple wikipedia link for you: en.wikipedia (dot)org/wiki/Persecution_of_Christians If you think that persecution of Christians is made up I almost see no point in debating with you because you cannot do it intelligently.
Ok, I did say that. I admit Christians have been persecuted (see that? I saw a fact and decided to change my mind).
I, (personally, not someone from another country 20 years ago) have been physically abused because I'm a non-theist. Have you?
When my son gets older, (assuming he's an atheist) will not be allowed in the boy scouts. Is there any non-religious organization you can't join because you're Christian? I'd like to know.
@theblasto That's neither here nor there. I only said that persecution of Christians ensures that Christianity will never be lazy thinking. I can't take credit for organizations that do not allow atheists membership. You can judge all people based on the actions of one. Just as you can't say all men are evil because one man raped someone. It doesn't matter when someone was abused, whether it be 20 yrs. ago or now. It's still a travesty.
I agree. Any death is a travesty. But considering that both Christians and non-theists have been persecuted and killed because of their beliefs (or lack of beliefs), its a wash. Your point is moot.
@theblasto My point is that Christian thinking is not lazy because we suffer for it. That point is not moot because other deaths from non-theists play no part in it. Regardless of who else has died, Christians have been persecuted which is something that I think even you would admit is not "lazy". It takes strength and courage to face such adversity.
I'm not saying YOU are lazy. I'm saying your thought process is. If you're being persecuted, you don't have to figure anything out.
I'll explain. You view the world top down. "The bible says X and it is true. Here are evidences of that."
I, and other non-theists view the world from the bottom up. "I noticed something happening, but I don't know why. Let's do strict testing and research until we find the best answer."
@theblasto "if you're being persecuted, you don't have to figure anything out." Are you serious?! As someone is being tortured wouldn't the easy (lazy) thing to do be to recount your beliefs and trade it for something else? If you are being ridiculed and someone is throwing your beliefs in your face wouldn't it be the easy (lazy) thing to do to just disregard your beliefs and thinking and just switch over? No, Christianity is not, has never been, and will never be lazy thinking.
"So the sun stood still, and the moon stopped, till the nation avenged itself on its enemies, as it is written in the Book of Jashar. The sun stopped in the middle of the sky and delayed going down about a full day."
That verse is written from the point of view that the sun revolves around the earth. God would have known better. Not to mention that it would have destroyed the ecosystem on the planet.
@theblasto First, look at who is saying this. Joshua? He is not God, he is not all knowing. Second, examine to see if this is a metaphor. Is it? It could very well be. Literary methods and expressions were used back then too.
@theblasto Thirdly, the sun stopped. From Joshua's perspective it would appear to stop, does that mean it did? No, maybe the Earth stopped. Again, Joshua is not all knowing. As far as the ecosystem, because God is all powerful He could stop the Earth and prevent any harming consequences.
@theblasto Come now. I'm very logical. I have been this whole time. I validate everything, explain everything, "speak" in clear straightforward sentences. Do my best to not have grammar mistakes and though I often failed, I have tried to not openly call you an idiot for your beliefs. We both know I am not insane. Although, I could and do say you are for not wanting your child to experience this great song when there is nothing malicious or mean about it.
You know, the only case I can find of is of Cecil Bothwell. Google his name. He wasn't denied office, but the law I stated was brought up in an attempt to reverse his landslide victory. He was sworn in late because some people actually thought such nonsense was up for debate. You would not suffer that as a Christian.
@theblasto Exactly, he wasn't denied office. Enough said. Having someone try to keep him from office and not succeeding is hardly persecution. Maybe you need a definition of the word?
Also, let's count up the death's caused in human's history in the name of religion, and compare that to the number of Christians who have died due to religious persecution. Seriously now. I can't believe you even said that.
@theblasto Deaths are deaths. Fewer deaths do not make something unimportant. Innocent life should always be counted sacred. I can't believe you said that. And you will never be able to have an accurate accounting of deaths because of "religion" is not necessarily Christianity and deaths against Christians.
And I do have a moral standard. My morals don't flip flop, nor are they some vague idea. And my morals are shared by most people who share in my beliefs.
The difference is that if new information should present itself to me, I'll consider it to improve my moral code and the lives of those around me. I don't cling to archaic, unmoving rules. I assume you know that you can't boil a goat in its mother's milk, right? That's one of the commandments in the bible. Not very relevant in today's society.
@theblasto Our rules are not archaic or unmoving. That's a completely uneducated statement. A smart person can read through the Bible and understand what is metaphor what is pure fact, and know that the Old Testament has been thrown out. Does the mother's milk verse (reference?) happen to be in the old testament?
Exodus 20:2-17 lists the commandments that are accepted today, but Moses is repeating to the people what god told him. They are not written down.
Later, Moses goes back to God and gets the stone tablets. Exodus 31:18. But, when he came down, the people were busy building a golden calf and he smashed the tablets...Exodus 31:19.
The word commandment hasn't been mentioned to this point. (Continued in next post)...
In the first instance, these were words that god "spake". In the second, the words are called "testimony".
Moses goes back a third time and when he returns with the new tablets, the term "10 commandments" is finally mentioned. Exodus 34:28. This time, though, we have a different set of commandments (listed in the next post)...
The actual 10 commandments are too long to list in a single post. You can look them up yourself. Exodus 34: 13-28, This is the part in the bible where they're called "commandments." They are the only such things written on stone tablets that are not smashed. So you can consider this list to be God's final word on the 10 commandments.
So I hope you "...observe the feast of weeks, of the firstfruits of wheat harvest, and the feast of ingathering at the year's end."
@theblasto I don't need a history lesson nor do I need to look up the 10 commandments. I already know them. I find it interesting how you never directly respond to anything but instead go off on a tangent as if you know but are unable to admit you are wrong. All of this commandment information does not change that the goat verse must be from the old testament and you still never gave a reference for it...
That's just it. You DO need to look up the 10 commandments. I just laid it right in front of your face and you're denying it.
The final, unbroken tablets.... The only list of rules referred to as "commandments" are not the commandments you know and hold true. READ THE BIBLE. I've given you references to the verses. I've explained it.
Also, the "commandments" you're talking about? THEY'RE FROM THE OLD TESTAMENT TOO!!
@theblasto I have read the Bible. Some things were cast away in the Old Testament and some were not. The 10 commandments are still viable today, your ridiculous reference that is completely irrelevant to our discussion about a goat is not. You should perhaps read the Bible. I don't need your crazed "explanations" to understand. Go ahead and accuse me of not reading something I have. I happen to be a Sunday School teacher, it sort of requires knowing the Bible...
I used to be a sunday school teacher too. I went to church 3 times a week and have read the bible cover to cover. The list of rules you hold as the 10 commandments is not the 10 commandments as listed in the bible. You absolutely cannot refute this. And let's just say you're right. What is it about the tablets I'm talking about that makes you think you can ignore them? They were brought down in the same fashion and time as the ones you subscribe to. Explain.
@theblasto Let's just assume that I believe what you are saying about the 10 commandments. Though I have read the Bible and attend church I have in no way memorized all of it's contents. So, for the purpose of now let's just say I believe you. You're saying that the goat thing is in the 10 commandments? Where did the particular argument come from and what are you trying to prove?
@theblasto When Jesus died on the cross it began a new way of life and a testament because we now had the ultimate sacrifice thus making some of the old testament doctrines no longer needed.
@theblasto And I'm sorry if I appear redundant but you have no SET moral STANDARD. There is no written are completely shared SET moral STANDARD that you try to uphold.
You know, you're absolutely correct. And I believe that a SET moral standard is dangerous. Another way to say "set moral standard" is "close-minded idealism". You are admitting that there is no way you could be wrong about anything concerning your moral code? Think about that. That scares the daylights out of me. That means whatever you do in life, no matter how atrocious, is justified by your belief that your moral code is infallible. Truly scary stuff.
@theblasto Ah, but I have never done anything atrocious. It's not scary because there is nothing atrocious in my moral code. It's all perfectly well and good.
I cannot find the study that looked at this from the religious point of view, but this is an article on the base study. Enter it just like it show's but with a . instead of (dot):
goo(dot)gl/alw3
I truly hope you read that article.
Oh yeah, I also don't want my daughter to worship a god that won't heal amputees. Think about it. He "cures" cancer and blindness etc., but not severed limbs. There isn't a single case of this happening anywhere. Does he hate amputees? Is he unable to cure them?
@theblasto I didn't see anything in the article that said religious thinking is lazy thinking. Perhaps you misread? The only mention of the Bible or religion in general was the question asked about Moses having an ark, the answer was no because Moses did not have an ark, Noah did. I find it interesting that you can't "find" the article that focused on the religious perspective. I think I made my point well enough in my previous post to not have to revisit the topic and waste space.
okay...well let me say it like this....screw the religious bs....religion and personal relationship are two separate things...and relationship is what true followers go for. not the trappings of religion which is that whole "I'm better than you because i'm a christian". people who do that make me sick.
It's my job not to compare her life to anyone else's for starters. I want her to have the best life I can reasonably provide, regardless of how we had it.
And I did have it rough. I saw my family spending their time hating people and ideas I thought were innocuous. I saw my sister weeping for her soul because she was afraid she didn't pray to God right. She was afraid of burning in a LITERAL LAKE OF FIRE for all eternity. That's wrong. That's horrible psychological abuse. It's sick.
The line is "Oh hear the word of the Lord." The song is derived from the Old Testament Ezekiel 37:1-14, although somewhat more anatomical and less allegorical in nature.

A very nice rendition of an old children's song based on the Bible character Ezekiel. I suppose this is one of those songs that you would classify as a "Sunday School Song." Nevertheless, Sam performs it exceedingly well, and is quite cute. This is a very nice song, and I have always enjoyed hearing it. Especially ever since Sam recorded it.

Yeah well guess what, Greg can no longer be upright for more than 3 seconds so he can't do this anymore. Sam's a little more dramatic but he's been a dedicated understudy and I don't think anyone but he -is really qualified to fill Greg's shoes. In short, to echo someone else: Get over it.
Totally wrong! Greg can be upright as long as he wants. The problem is being stationary in 1 position for long periods. If he sits he will want to stand & move around occasionally. Standing in line for long periods would bother him if he can't move around. He sang 3 adult songs on stage in October standing & playing guitar, plays cricket, was M.C. at an awards show & did 4 t.v. interviews in 08. Looked great, walked around, drove his Elvis caddy. YOU get over it! Greg is the best - always.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Well then I guess you'll have to deal with the reality that maybe Greg doesn't want to identify with children entertainment anymore. He's made it clear he can't do it anymore, if you're adamant that he can, then why else doesn't he want to do it. It's one thing to whine about this in the first place, it's another thing to be so delusional about it. Grow up.
Perhaps you should grow up so that you're able to comprehend what you read. At no point was I adamant that Greg can return to The Wiggles. With medication & managing his condition he returned to a more normal way of life in 2008. It's ridiculous to say he can't be upright for more than 3 seconds - that was never true. He can't do a hectic schedule but hopes to have a solo career. Greg gave half his life to The Wiggles & deserves thanks & appreciation. Like it or not, they will never be as good.
@hammettsnugo sam is a loser who was unable at almost 30 to forge a successful career of his own, but waited around until everything Greg had created & made successful was handed to him.... he has taken it nowhere but down. Greg is the founder, the writer, the man whose unique & instantly recognizable voice led them to the top as the worlds' #1 children's group & Australia's top earners. Greg's DVDS,CDS & tv series are still shown & are money makers. He is loved & missed by old & new fans alike.
@hammettsnugo I'd say The wiggles care they are no longer Oz's top earning entertainers - 55 million Greg's last year - they lose money every year & are now down by 22 million. Disney got rid of them, 6 Flags dumped them. And that's only the start of their trouble. Greg is today's news because they use his face, name & voice to make most of their money. The new CD & DVD Best of The Wiggles is mostly Greg. sam IS NOT awesome. He was a salaried employee when first hired & that's all he is today.
@simmerandburn Impressive! You turn to name calling because you don't have an explanation for the big down turn the last four years in The Wiggles career. Sorry, but I don't intend to take orders from a bully like you.
@artsandcrafts1414 You people are hateful towards a man for doing his job. Every act has suffered losses in the last few years. The Wiggles entertain young children. Greg was great. I won't deny that; but, quit ptting Sam down. He'sa great singer. I'm sick of grown-ups acting like spoiled brats because they can't have their way.
@hammettsnugo Hilarious how you call stating facts whining. Take it up with BRW magazine, The Daily Telegraph, Disney, Six Flags, Netflix, Anthony or Mike Conway etc. The Wiggles USED to be #1 & moran is leading them downhill. I'm not the only one who thinks this way. You're going to have to argue with a lot of people. FYI GREG & the guys received their 2nd Honorary Doctorate Sept 09 and in Jan 2010 GREG, Murray, Jeff & Anthony were made Members Of The Order Of Australia. YOU are a BLOODY IDIOT.

@artsandcrafts1414 More bleating!! Put in links to your so called facts, else admit you are making it up. Tsk tsk, angry fella ain't you. I suggest you go on an anger management course.
Greg 's voice is unique, and completely suited to children's music, which is exactly the reason anthony said he wanted Greg as the lead singer. Greg's voice is instantly recognizable as the voice of The Wiggles, and has earned them FIVE ARIAS (Australian Grammy) SEVENTEEN GOLD RECORDS, TWELVE PLATINUM RECORDS, THREE DOUBLE PLATINUM RECORDS, AND TEN MULTI-PLATINUM RECORDS. I don't think there's any doubt as to who has THE voice - the one, the legend, the man - GREG PAGE.
omg there not lip sincin! i've watched a lotta wiggle's vids so i know they wont lip sinc sam and anthony wont anyway. in the vid toot toot chugge chugge big red car it looks like murray and jeff are lip singing
Greg picked sam himself. Sam is no Greg but he is the yellow wiggle now. I love Sam and proud of it. I understand you miss greg but you have to deal with this new wiggle

@Xcoming2 - As an atheist , I don't see anything wrong here. Sure, it might have been better if they had changed the lyric, but "lord" doesn't HAVE to mean god. One could explain it as a man with leading power.

If you're worried about the "messages" your child is receiving through The Wiggles music, you should strongly consider getting rid of the computer you used to post your comments and homeschooling your child. The Wiggles are the least of your worries.

I didn't know the wiggles sang religious songs. Shame. It's hard to find stuff for my daughter that doesn't have christian music dabbled throughout... same with Raffi.
theblasto 2 years ago
The Wiggles have recorded many religiously themed songs. "Dry Bones" is considered to be an old Sunday School song. And then there is "Uncle Noah's Ark." And of course, there are religious songs all throughout "Wiggly, Wiggly Christmas," "Yule Be Wiggling," and "Santa's Rockin.'" There is also a reenactment of the Nativity story.
sydneybarcarolle 2 years ago
What's the problem? How does it hurt for your daughter to hear this song?
kkdkoolkat2 2 years ago 2
This would hurt her the same way a Christian parent would feel that a song with a strong atheist message is detrimental to their child. I don't want her to think she has to "Heed the word of the Lord."
I don't really care about a story's origin if it carries a good lesson. "Do what your supernatural master tells you to do," is not one of those stories.
theblasto 2 years ago 3
What's so wrong if she heeds the word of the Lord. It says not to steal, kill, lie, cheat, commit adultry. The world would be a better place if more people would heed these words.
kkdkoolkat2 2 years ago 4
So the world would be a better place if we brainwashed our children into believing the rules of a mythical man in the sky? Plenty of studies show that religious thinking is lazy thinking. You accept what you read and only pay attention to what supports your beliefs. You don't challenge your thoughts (because that'd be the opposite of "faith").
I don't want any child of mine to to let someone else take responsibility for their thoughts and morals.
theblasto 1 year ago
@theblasto How is it brainwashing to believe in something bigger than yourself? Instead, you are brainwashing your child by not letting her hear messages like these. Plenty of studies?! Where is your proof? I'm sure all of these "studies" have been conducted by atheists and liberals, how biased of you. I find it ironic that you say Christian thinking is lazy thinking when we are persecuted and ridiculed every single day for our beliefs, I hardly think that's lazy.
kkdkoolkat2 1 year ago
You think you are persecuted every day? There are government positions in this country ILLEGAL for an atheist to hold. Do you understand the gravity of that? My country will not let me hold a particular office because I don't subscribe to any religion. That's unpatriotic and frightening.
You are not being persecuted. You are being told to keep your religion where it belongs. Not in government. Not in schools. That's not persecution. Those are rules we all agree on as a country.
theblasto 1 year ago
@theblasto You don't know me, therfore you know nothing of my persecution. Christians have been tortured and martyred throughout all history for believing and it still happens as well as the ever present shooting of those who believe. Name the job that it is illegal for an athiest to hold. I'd loved to hear about it. It is a preacher's position because I find that interesting! In truth, I agree with that perspective. Athiest have no moral standard to which they must hold themselves.
kkdkoolkat2 1 year ago
In the United States, seven state constitutions officially include religious tests that would effectively prevent atheists from holding public office.
I take great offense to your comment about not having a moral standard. Christians do not have a monopoly on morals. In fact, it can be argued that you have no morals since none originate from within you.
Morals are doing what you believe despite what someone tells you.
Religion is doing what someone tells you despite what you believe.
theblasto 1 year ago
@theblasto Religion is NOT doing what someone tells you despite what you believe, obviously you wouldn't follow this someone unless you believed. That was an idiot statement. As far as the rest, I really don't care if it offends you. It seems that is quite easy to do. A simple children's song with a great message offends you, letting your child hear other viewpoints offends you. Get a tougher skin.
kkdkoolkat2 1 year ago
I was never offended by the song. You seem to enjoy exaggerating and molding my words. I said it was a shame that this song was sullied by creepy religious statements. I was never offended.
You are a bible-believing Christian, correct? All of your morals come a singular, unchanging source. The odds that you already believed ALL of the same things before studying the bible is laughable. So you must have TAKEN your moral code FROM the bible and your religion.
I stand by my statement.
theblasto 1 year ago
@theblasto Ahh, just as you seem to enjoy taking things that aren't fact and pretending they are. You seem deeply offended by the song to refer to it as "creepy religious statements". I did not TAKE anything, I follow the moral STANDARD I believe is right which is also laid out in the Bible. What I have said all along. Who is twisting words now?
kkdkoolkat2 1 year ago
@theblasto Again, you give no proof. What seven states? What clause in the consitution? Is that clause active? Give me a link. Has the clause ever been used against someone (an Athiest). What job position is it. You spout all this without any proof whatsoever. You cite things without ever citing them. Oh, and the morals I never said that Athiests have no morals. I said and I still believe that they don't have a moral STANDARD.
kkdkoolkat2 1 year ago
I'm sorry for my mistake. It's actually 8 states. TX, AR, MA, MD, NC, PA, SC and TN
As an example, this is from the official Texas Constitution:
Sec. 4. RELIGIOUS TESTS. No religious test shall ever be required as a qualification to any office, or public trust, in this State; nor shall any one be excluded from holding office on account of his religious sentiments, provided he acknowledge the existence of a Supreme Being.
"...provided he acknowledge the existence of a Supreme Being...."
theblasto 1 year ago
@theblasto Again, has this clause ever been used against someone? There are many laws that are outdated that aren't used or never have been used but they are still in existence. This still does not compare the deaths, and tortures that have been committed against Christians. This whole sub-debate started with you saying Christian thinking is lazy thinking. I proved that it is not because of the persecution Christians face.
kkdkoolkat2 1 year ago
"This whole sub-debate started with you saying Christian thinking is lazy thinking. I proved that it is not because of the persecution Christians face."
WHAT? That makes no sense at ALL. How does this supposed persecution have anything to do with laziness?
And the only persecution you face, in reality, is made up. You're most likely confusing your sense of majority entitlement with persecution. Give me an example or two of your persecution, in case I'm completely missing your point.
theblasto 1 year ago
@theblasto Lazy thinking is thinking which requires no thought or effort. It is easy. Christianity requires effort and thought and is never easy. The persecution we face ensures that Christianity will never be lazy thinking because persecution is not easy. Is that clear enough for you?
kkdkoolkat2 1 year ago
I have to think for myself. 100%. You do not. You get your beliefs and your morals from the bible and your church. This does not require you to figure them out for yourself. Even if you take the time to try and confirm them.
theblasto 1 year ago
@theblasto I have to think through it and decide whether or not I will follow them. This requires thought. Just as you do not run red lights (hopefully) because someone else created them and told you not to. You choose to follow this because you have thought about and decided it is right.
kkdkoolkat2 1 year ago
Good analogy about the red lights. I'll give you that.
That being said.... You just happen to agree with everything in the bible? We're not talking about a single traffic law. We're talking about an entire book of ancient laws and stories. So confirm this for me. Do you believe everything in the bible is true? And do you agree with the judgments and rules made in the bible?
theblasto 1 year ago
@theblasto Yes, I agree with everything in the Bible. I may not understand it all because I am not God but I trust in it. You may not agree with every law but you still follow them all (hopefully) not just the ones you agree with. And I'm not saying it's easy, sometimes obscure laws we have to follow today seem completely ridiculous and pointless. I still follow them. Sometimes something God wants me to do is hard but I still do my best to do it. But I am not perfect and of course make mistakes.
kkdkoolkat2 1 year ago
I hope then that you carry out the following. And don't give me that Old/New testament argument. Your 10 commandments are from the old testament.
"And the man that committeth adultery with [another] man's wife, [even he] that committeth adultery with his neighbour's wife, the adulterer and the adulteress shall surely be put to death." Leviticus 20:10
theblasto 1 year ago
@theblasto SOME of the old testament is no longer needed. It is up to Christians to use their independent thought that you so proudly tout to decide which is which. This verse is from the Old Testament.
kkdkoolkat2 1 year ago
Wow. This is insane. Now you get to just toss out the parts of the bible that sound like nonsense. You must see how absurd that is.
theblasto 1 year ago
@theblasto No. I must as a free thinking Christian individual study the Bible and pray for guidance to know what is meant throughout the Bible. Must I go into the entire explanation of how when Jesus died he was the perfect sacrifice and other sacrifices for sins were no longer needed? I assumed that as a previous sunday school teacher you would already be aware of this. I don't toss out anything, I no longer use what is no longer needed.
kkdkoolkat2 1 year ago
Why do you need guidance to understand what is meant throughout the bible? I don't need guidance to read a science book.
Maybe you need guidance because the bible contains a lot of confusing nonsense.
theblasto 1 year ago
@theblasto Everyone needs guidance because no person is all knowing. That's what teachers are for. Do you consider math confusing nonsense? Yet didn't you need teachers to teach you how to use it correctly and efficiently?
kkdkoolkat2 1 year ago
@theblasto A simple wikipedia link for you: en.wikipedia (dot)org/wiki/Persecution_of_Christians If you think that persecution of Christians is made up I almost see no point in debating with you because you cannot do it intelligently.
kkdkoolkat2 1 year ago
Ok, I did say that. I admit Christians have been persecuted (see that? I saw a fact and decided to change my mind).
I, (personally, not someone from another country 20 years ago) have been physically abused because I'm a non-theist. Have you?
When my son gets older, (assuming he's an atheist) will not be allowed in the boy scouts. Is there any non-religious organization you can't join because you're Christian? I'd like to know.
theblasto 1 year ago
@theblasto That's neither here nor there. I only said that persecution of Christians ensures that Christianity will never be lazy thinking. I can't take credit for organizations that do not allow atheists membership. You can judge all people based on the actions of one. Just as you can't say all men are evil because one man raped someone. It doesn't matter when someone was abused, whether it be 20 yrs. ago or now. It's still a travesty.
kkdkoolkat2 1 year ago
I agree. Any death is a travesty. But considering that both Christians and non-theists have been persecuted and killed because of their beliefs (or lack of beliefs), its a wash. Your point is moot.
theblasto 1 year ago
@theblasto My point is that Christian thinking is not lazy because we suffer for it. That point is not moot because other deaths from non-theists play no part in it. Regardless of who else has died, Christians have been persecuted which is something that I think even you would admit is not "lazy". It takes strength and courage to face such adversity.
kkdkoolkat2 1 year ago
I'm not saying YOU are lazy. I'm saying your thought process is. If you're being persecuted, you don't have to figure anything out.
I'll explain. You view the world top down. "The bible says X and it is true. Here are evidences of that."
I, and other non-theists view the world from the bottom up. "I noticed something happening, but I don't know why. Let's do strict testing and research until we find the best answer."
theblasto 1 year ago
@theblasto "if you're being persecuted, you don't have to figure anything out." Are you serious?! As someone is being tortured wouldn't the easy (lazy) thing to do be to recount your beliefs and trade it for something else? If you are being ridiculed and someone is throwing your beliefs in your face wouldn't it be the easy (lazy) thing to do to just disregard your beliefs and thinking and just switch over? No, Christianity is not, has never been, and will never be lazy thinking.
kkdkoolkat2 1 year ago
@theblasto Give me something the Bible says that is wrong. I have nothing to test and disprove because it's always right.
kkdkoolkat2 1 year ago
Joshua 10:13:
"So the sun stood still, and the moon stopped, till the nation avenged itself on its enemies, as it is written in the Book of Jashar. The sun stopped in the middle of the sky and delayed going down about a full day."
That verse is written from the point of view that the sun revolves around the earth. God would have known better. Not to mention that it would have destroyed the ecosystem on the planet.
theblasto 1 year ago
@theblasto First, look at who is saying this. Joshua? He is not God, he is not all knowing. Second, examine to see if this is a metaphor. Is it? It could very well be. Literary methods and expressions were used back then too.
kkdkoolkat2 1 year ago
@theblasto Thirdly, the sun stopped. From Joshua's perspective it would appear to stop, does that mean it did? No, maybe the Earth stopped. Again, Joshua is not all knowing. As far as the ecosystem, because God is all powerful He could stop the Earth and prevent any harming consequences.
kkdkoolkat2 1 year ago
By the way....
"I have nothing to test and disprove because it's always right."
I wish you would have said that right off the bat. I didn't know you were insane.

You would not suffer that as a Christian.
theblasto 1 year ago
@theblasto Exactly, he wasn't denied office. Enough said. Having someone try to keep him from office and not succeeding is hardly persecution. Maybe you need a definition of the word?
kkdkoolkat2 1 year ago
Also, let's count up the death's caused in human's history in the name of religion, and compare that to the number of Christians who have died due to religious persecution. Seriously now. I can't believe you even said that.
theblasto 1 year ago
@theblasto Deaths are deaths. Fewer deaths do not make something unimportant. Innocent life should always be counted sacred. I can't believe you said that. And you will never be able to have an accurate accounting of deaths because of "religion" is not necessarily Christianity and deaths against Christians.
kkdkoolkat2 1 year ago
And I do have a moral standard. My morals don't flip flop, nor are they some vague idea. And my morals are shared by most people who share in my beliefs.
The difference is that if new information should present itself to me, I'll consider it to improve my moral code and the lives of those around me. I don't cling to archaic, unmoving rules. I assume you know that you can't boil a goat in its mother's milk, right? That's one of the commandments in the bible. Not very relevant in today's society.
theblasto 1 year ago
@theblasto Our rules are not archaic or unmoving. That's a completely uneducated statement. A smart person can read through the Bible and understand what is metaphor what is pure fact, and know that the Old Testament has been thrown out. Does the mother's milk verse (reference?) happen to be in the old testament?
kkdkoolkat2 1 year ago
@theblasto Oh, that is also not a commandment because there are only 10 "commandments" and that is not one of them.
kkdkoolkat2 1 year ago
Exodus 20:2-17 lists the commandments that are accepted today, but Moses is repeating to the people what god told him. They are not written down.
Later, Moses goes back to God and gets the stone tablets. Exodus 31:18. But, when he came down, the people were busy building a golden calf and he smashed the tablets...Exodus 31:19.
The word commandment hasn't been mentioned to this point. (Continued in next post)...
theblasto 1 year ago
In the first instance, these were words that god "spake". In the second, the words are called "testimony".
Moses goes back a third time and when he returns with the new tablets, the term "10 commandments" is finally mentioned. Exodus 34:28. This time, though, we have a different set of commandments (listed in the next post)...
theblasto 1 year ago
The actual 10 commandments are too long to list in a single post. You can look them up yourself. Exodus 34: 13-28, This is the part in the bible where they're called "commandments." They are the only such things written on stone tablets that are not smashed. So you can consider this list to be God's final word on the 10 commandments.
So I hope you "...observe the feast of weeks, of the firstfruits of wheat harvest, and the feast of ingathering at the year's end."
theblasto 1 year ago
@theblasto I don't need a history lesson nor do I need to look up the 10 commandments. I already know them. I find it interesting how you never directly respond to anything but instead go off on a tangent as if you know but are unable to admit you are wrong. All of this commandment information does not change that the goat verse must be from the old testament and you still never gave a reference for it...
kkdkoolkat2 1 year ago
That's just it. You DO need to look up the 10 commandments. I just laid it right in front of your face and you're denying it.
The final, unbroken tablets.... The only list of rules referred to as "commandments" are not the commandments you know and hold true. READ THE BIBLE. I've given you references to the verses. I've explained it.
Also, the "commandments" you're talking about? THEY'RE FROM THE OLD TESTAMENT TOO!!
theblasto 1 year ago
@theblasto I have read the Bible. Some things were cast away in the Old Testament and some were not. The 10 commandments are still viable today, your ridiculous reference that is completely irrelevant to our discussion about a goat is not. You should perhaps read the Bible. I don't need your crazed "explanations" to understand. Go ahead and accuse me of not reading something I have. I happen to be a Sunday School teacher, it sort of requires knowing the Bible...
kkdkoolkat2 1 year ago
I used to be a sunday school teacher too. I went to church 3 times a week and have read the bible cover to cover. The list of rules you hold as the 10 commandments is not the 10 commandments as listed in the bible. You absolutely cannot refute this. And let's just say you're right. What is it about the tablets I'm talking about that makes you think you can ignore them? They were brought down in the same fashion and time as the ones you subscribe to. Explain.
theblasto 1 year ago
@theblasto Let's just assume that I believe what you are saying about the 10 commandments. Though I have read the Bible and attend church I have in no way memorized all of it's contents. So, for the purpose of now let's just say I believe you. You're saying that the goat thing is in the 10 commandments? Where did the particular argument come from and what are you trying to prove?
kkdkoolkat2 1 year ago
@theblasto When Jesus died on the cross it began a new way of life and a testament because we now had the ultimate sacrifice thus making some of the old testament doctrines no longer needed.
kkdkoolkat2 1 year ago
@theblasto And I'm sorry if I appear redundant but you have no SET moral STANDARD. There is no written are completely shared SET moral STANDARD that you try to uphold.
kkdkoolkat2 1 year ago
You know, you're absolutely correct. And I believe that a SET moral standard is dangerous. Another way to say "set moral standard" is "close-minded idealism". You are admitting that there is no way you could be wrong about anything concerning your moral code? Think about that. That scares the daylights out of me. That means whatever you do in life, no matter how atrocious, is justified by your belief that your moral code is infallible. Truly scary stuff.
theblasto 1 year ago
@theblasto Ah, but I have never done anything atrocious. It's not scary because there is nothing atrocious in my moral code. It's all perfectly well and good.

goo(dot)gl/alw3
I truly hope you read that article.
Oh yeah, I also don't want my daughter to worship a god that won't heal amputees. Think about it. He "cures" cancer and blindness etc., but not severed limbs. There isn't a single case of this happening anywhere. Does he hate amputees? Is he unable to cure them?
theblasto 1 year ago
@theblasto I didn't see anything in the article that said religious thinking is lazy thinking. Perhaps you misread? The only mention of the Bible or religion in general was the question asked about Moses having an ark, the answer was no because Moses did not have an ark, Noah did. I find it interesting that you can't "find" the article that focused on the religious perspective. I think I made my point well enough in my previous post to not have to revisit the topic and waste space.

In short, to echo someone else: Get over it.
lumyn 2 years ago
Totally wrong! Greg can be upright as long as he wants. The problem is being stationary in 1 position for long periods. If he sits he will want to stand & move around occasionally. Standing in line for long periods would bother him if he can't move around. He sang 3 adult songs on stage in October standing & playing guitar, plays cricket, was M.C. at an awards show & did 4 t.v. interviews in 08. Looked great, walked around, drove his Elvis caddy. YOU get over it! Greg is the best - always.

Grow up.
lumyn 2 years ago
Perhaps you should grow up so that you're able to comprehend what you read. At no point was I adamant that Greg can return to The Wiggles. With medication & managing his condition he returned to a more normal way of life in 2008. It's ridiculous to say he can't be upright for more than 3 seconds - that was never true. He can't do a hectic schedule but hopes to have a solo career. Greg gave half his life to The Wiggles & deserves thanks & appreciation. Like it or not, they will never be as good.

get over it seriously.. it doesnt effect you... as the wiggles are aimed at children, or does it?

I can't stand Sam. He's so fucking fake. Also, is he in every fucking sketch they do? I think they should feature Cathy Mete more prominently.

oh SHUT UP sam is not fake. he has a nicer voice than greg.

Greg picked sam himself. Sam is no Greg but he is the yellow wiggle now. I love Sam and proud of it. I understand you miss greg but you have to deal with this new wiggle
