hmmm i think you're just overreacting and plus with the serious background music its kinda depressing sounding but not hating or anything but i dont think anything is gonna wrong is going to happen in the philipines
I'm glad I watched all 3 vids! I hope you had fun nonetheless, and also that u dont look down upon Filipinas. Kudos to you! The subject is dark but Filipinos have so much pride in their ability to sacrifice and survive thru any hardship. Some women resent the sacrifice They made but enjoy the perks (pinay at the korean airport) and become suplada. This vlog could have been worse: Filipinos marrying w/ in families (observed: 3rd cousins) to help out. This does happen often...Yikes! Disgusting!
i hope other people could still do videos like this.. something worth watching.. at least i didnt feel like im wasting minutes of my life.. i like your videos man, good job.
oh yeah?why dont u try some other videos here like...senakulo,ang ang baklang demonyo? so thatu'll know that others video here are worth watching and u will never waste minutes of your life, just try and u.ll see that in the other side of the world there is other worth watching videos here...just try...thanks!
the bills or the grocery list in the ref really bothers me i cant seem to understand what ur talking about coz the list posted on ref captures my attention but i got your point!!! hehehehe
Well Philippines has a really corrupted government but either way, we still hope and DO something for change; were like a laughing stock for other countries
mm... though i think a person who's not about the politics in a major way could provide the change Philippines needs, i'm not sure i'm fit for the job :)
what i mean by that statement is that Philippines needs someone who isn't REALLY or AT ALL a politician.
Angeles city is sorta the "centre of things" in central luzon when it comes to what you're talking about. we went there personally for a research and talked to those women. pretty sad stories and like you said, they 'welcome' that kind of lifestyle as they 'dont have any other choice'...
I admire your courage for discussing this topic. I think that a lot of us have difficulty opening up our feelings/thoughts towards this issue. Like you said, a lot of the women do what they do because it is one ( if not only ) of their only means to bring food to the table for their family. But Is that a valid justification for what they're doing ? I guess this corner stone depends on the very person themselves.
You're very different from other Filipino-Americans.
My cousins from the states are very much "brain-washed." One of them went here to the Philippines to study and she was disgusted. She kept complaining about certain things here.
I like how you take pride of your nationality and have much interest that most Fil-Ams.
I like your perspective on things. *Claps* Can't wait to watch more vids :D
you know, there's a lot to be disgusted by in Philippines...but i can say the same thing about the United States. no one and nothing is perfect, and aren't the imperfections a big part of why we love anyone or anything? i certainly believe so :)
Good insight. My name is Ares and I founded Grupo Filipino Salsa. I wouldn't have found this group without being my rooted to the past, the source of my identity and pride. When we gain independence from Spain and from the US, we tried to assume a new identity and tried to become what we are not...simply because we had no collective vision. Reflections like this is important, good to start with. I got a facebook and perhaps add me up to see what we can do about it. Let's work together.
I agree with all you have to say with the case of filipinos and their relationship between the philippines. and I have to say it's cool to hear all these things I've been learning in Communications being applied with the state of filipinas and their relation to foreigners, and the meaning behind their actions.
Well I am studying Communications in Canada and I've finished first year. covered basic theory in telecommunications, broadcasting, politics and all that media/cultural imperialism stuff. The way I see it, you bringing up (media/)cultural imperialism adds on to the discourse of Philippine identity...there's so much to go from there...
-yeah, maybe they gave their permission willingly but what are the americans doing here? and why are they asking those women out?
"Absence of pride and nationalism"
-the Philippines has been under the control of Spain for 333 years and they Filipinos were sold to the Americans for $2,000,000 ($1 or $2 per Filipino).
all of your questions: i've gone on and on about them with friends and family... maybe i should put it on a vlog... one that i won't upload so many times... hmmmm
