  • i do believe i see a zakk wylde custom in the back. this makes me happy.

  • cello or violin bow?

  • @maxikronnont Cello

  • @PassionOfDenmark do you think I can play this technique with a telecaster?

  • I hope you don't leave your guitars like that all the time. Consider buying some stands.

Also to everyone who didn't get it, THIS IS A DUDE! Look at his other videos.

  • hey jonsi gimme your autograph :p

  • wow that's a haunting sound.

  • that sound awesome if i was on acid

  • its always nice to see other ways to play the guitar, not just shredding shit to see who has the biggest d***

I like to experiment with my guitar too :P

  • WAY more money than talent

  • @duffer29 Pretty much everyone has more money than talent, what's your point? She's got 50.000 views on something she did. You've posted no videos, you're old, and you've got nothing to show for it.. Pity.

  • That Wylde LP looks kickass!!

  • Thanks a lot for the help. I'll try the softer rosin on the bow because the kind I have aren't working well.

  • Do you do anything special to get the bow to make that noise? i just got a bow and it wont make a sound.

  • @rimdog379 You need Rosin on the bow. Rosin is a sticky substance that when applied to the bow strings will create friction between the bow strings and whatever you use it on. Without rosin, the bowstrings just glide across surfaces without making a sound. Get to the music store and get some pretty soft rosin, if you can. I find that soft rosin is the best for guitar and bass stuff. Gets the strings going very quickly.

  • girls make kick ass sandwiches.

  • @Moomabo Stop trolling, this ain't a violin to hold the bow properly.

  • @Moomabo she's a guitar player, not a violon player...

  • What kind of settings did you use on this? Obviously a lot of reverb, but what about delay etc. ?

  • @jacobclarke14 Lots of delay and reverb.

  • @PassionOfDenmark What reverb and delay pedal do you use?

  • @PassionOfDenmark Hei, i was just wondering: can i recreate the same (amazing) sound with an electric bow??

Sorry for my english and (guitar) ignorance.

    Congratulations by the way.

  • @Regentzable No, it doesn't sound the same. But it's also cool.

  • Bravo!!! excelente!!!!

    greetings from Chile!!

  • When I finally restring my guitar, and buy a bow, what tuning is this [dropd?] and what effects? Sounds like reverb and a little bit of delay. Plus all the sustained notes.

  • Just got a bow myself, thanks for posting this :-)

  • wow that is a great cover.

i am very impressed. well im gonna try this now...

  • Great!

  • @SigurRosHD

Whoa, it's Jonsi and the band themselves!

  • lmao at the sticker xD you have like every single guitar I want to get in your room!, and VERY sweet cover!

  • man kan kun elske bue guitar =) lyder fedt

  • Wow dude this sounds just like it. and sigur ros are pretty hard to match. nice!!!!

  • wow amazing!! I Tried but I'm not able to do this!! my strings don't wave!! how can you do this?

  • Put rosin on the bow:-)

  • oh...genial idea!!!:D

    *thanks a lot*

  • That obviously gets a lot of rosin on the strings, but what does that do to your guitar? I'm looking into trying this but I'm afraid of getting Rosin all over the pickups and even under the pickguard? Any suggestions?

  • Go to a violin store... they have some liquid that takes it all. No worries.

  • I was afraid my self at the start when I first started using a bow. But if you dont use to much (gum) on the bow. It will be no problem at all.

But keep in mind that everyone got there opinion :)

  • Nice, I love Sigur Ros :P Well done!!!

  • крут, зараза))

  • Nice. Great Job ;)

  • It's really cool!!!

  • what kind of strings do you use ? sorry if its been answered already

  • What sort of effects do you have this through?

  • do you put any rosin on the bow???

  • Yes - otherwise no sound.

  • do you use a violin or cello bow?

  • cello bow

  • nice

  • girls kick ass

  • awesome

  • Only play the top string or the lowest... or all of them at once.

  • can you just get this sound with tonnes of reverb and the bow? or do you need soemthing else?

does it have to be in open tuning?

  • Delay and reverb does the trick. Standard tuning. good luck!

  • ahk, how do you have the bow at an angle if you only want to play some strings on a flat top? actually how do you just play one string that's in the middle?

  • bahaha yes.

  • im afraid your just going to have to buy a ebow if you want singular strings to vibrate, they come expensive but the quality you can get from them is amazing.

  • wow that's so hypnotizing. i found myself humming Jonsi's part hehe

  • Jeah nice !

Maybe you can tell us which effects youve used here?

  • Congrats, great sound! Your fx are also very well chosen.

I've made some songs with a violin bow on my LP, but it seems that cello bow is so much better!

I would like to learn to produce this magnificent sound like you do.

Also I bought the e-bow and tried to do the same but you just can't beat this spooky sound of the real bow. However e-bow is great for other sounds :)

    Thanks for sharing!

  • so do you have to have rosin on the bow to achieve those sounds? i played cello for a while, and its damn near impossible to get sound without a nice touch of rosin. i was just wondering if the electric guitar was the same way

  • Yes. Otherwise no sound:-)

    And lots of effects!!!

  • Sigur Ros used the E-bow before they were as popular as they are now. One of the members received the bow for his birthday and they decided to play it on guitar and liked the sound. It's in some interviews I believe

  • exactyly.

Ít was the bass player who bought a bow in the first place. Jonsi ended up playing with it:-)

  • what kind of effect are you using??

  • you rock! good vid. looks neet

  • and I like the ferrari sticker ha

  • great stuff, you nailed the sound.

  • how you can do that!????

    an special guitar xffects?

i try and i try to play my guitar like jonsi and i cant !

    please tell me

  • I love your guitar, and you absolutely kick ass playing those sigur ros tunes!

  • amazing cover i love sigur ros and your talented!

  • Mate that is excellent! shivers in my spine!

  • super smukt! (:

  • Fuckin awesome!

  • i like new technics on guitar and this is great

  • Its no where near 'new'

  • its not new, Jimi Page did this in 1973

  • Jimmy used it well before 73, he used it in concerts for Dazed and Confused with the Yardbirds around 67 and continued to perfect it with Zeppelin in '68, using it on songs such as How many more times, the bow on the studio version is amazing, as well as on dazed and confused and its live performances. And before that, he got the idea while working as a session guitarist in Britain in the early 60's from someone who told him to try it

  • But it is not the same, just listen Page agen..

  • jimmy page just beats the cock out of his guitar with the bow. Jonsi actually plays.

  • but you you spelt "Jimi" wrong, and Sigur Ros > Led Zeppelin

  • woah woah woah. sigur ros is great, but that comment was just stupid.

  • my god.

    what do you use?!?!?!? (fx_wise)

and do you have any techniue and reccomendation because ive been trying to learn bowing guitars like Jonsi does for a while. (especially Svfen-g-englar)

  • Is your name sarcastic? Or does everyone love sigur ros?

  • no, its an old name.

    ive changed alot alot ALOT.

  • Ah. Your channel now says that, i guess i should have checked there.

Also, you don't seem to have any godspeed you! black emperor (Horrible name, great great great band) in your videos. They fit nicely with sigur ros. But be warned! They're not for the close minded.

    Damn I responded fast!

  • well i have a very large mind.

    and a good musical tolerance.

  • i love their name! =(

  • how dare you put stickers on that guitar

  • I like it - good stuff.

  • Reminds me of Night time in DAoC.... :)

  • Hahahaha blonde moment, and I'm not even blonde. For a second I was like, "Holy SHIT it sounds just like it!!! How did this person get it to sound just like it on a guitar, with a bow??!!?!" Then I remembered that that's how Sigur Ros played the song in the first place. ha.

  • That was an absolute eargasm.

  • wow how are you getting that nice harmonic sound?

  • that sounds awesome.

  • it would sound better with vibrato

  • aargh! how?!

I realise that he uses a cello bow but surely my violin bow should produce a similar sound!

    what am I doing wrong?!

  • maybe rosin is the answer! :)

  • I think you're right, cheers!

  • cool deal. too harsh 4 me. I can appreciate it but not my thing.

  • Awesome! please tell, what equipment did you use? I tried so many times to get that Jonsi sound, with delay and reverberator, I didn't manage to do that!

  • nice cover!! check the one that i did with my band from njosnavelin

  • wow...this sounds reallllllllly good! can you please tell me your effects setup? i'm really digging the sound :)

  • if you covered svefn-g-englar, it would be the best thing. besides the real thing.

  • Please see my other videos.. I have covered that one..

  • simply beautiful...

  • Another nice cover m8, I was thinking of covering this one but went with Njosnavelin instead, look forward to the next :)

  • nice job it sounds really great. I was just wondering, do you put rosin on your bow? and if so, does it get really messy all over the guitar? I don't really get much sound from a bow without rosin but I don't want to screw up my guitar because of it. I heard it will stick to the surface and pickups. If you could let me know how you get your sound that would be great! thanks

  • Thanks. You need rosin and some liquid to take it off the strings. Ask in a violin store.

  • wanderful!!! i really like sigur ros and you really seem to know how to play them :)

  • its good. What reverb do you use?

  • Thanks...digitech, green one.

  • Wow, that's some nice playing and sound is pretty much spot on.

  • I've tried playing with my elbow but it doesn't work.

  • Use rosin on your bow. i use a violin bow it works just the same but its better to use a cello bow instead it sounds better.

  • Do you use rosin on the cello bow?

  • i heard your suppose to use a lot

  • I play with a Violin bow and get almost the same sound out of it. it doesnt have as many hairs as a cello bow though so you really have to work it alot harder to prodouse the sound you want. And yes you use a ton of rosin especaly for a Violin bow.

  • thanks i wondered how they acheaved that sound and thought it was this ebow thing

  • Wow, I´m really impressed always i want to play with the bow, i like sigur ros, but definitly i caný make that the guitar souds like this with the bow. And i think you should put a video lesson or something when you explain how to play with the bow, what pedal effects you can use, the tune, tecnics and it all!!. That will be cool. I really want to play with bow with my band but i don´t know how to use the bow.

  • what echo pedal are you using here?

  • Girls do kick ass

  • Says the user named 'Rambo'.

AKA the biggest guy movie in the world.

  • lol.

  • Beautiful, man the sounds your created are incredible, I'm really impressed and enchanted by this. Hope to hear more of that. Keep on rockin' ^^

  • Is that a girl, or just a emo dude?

  • I'm a guy. I like girls.

  • lol

  • outstanding. you sir, have inspired me!

  • Nice rlly nice

  • great stuff, man!

  • great work. Please keep sharing.

  • GIRLS KICK ASS!!!!! :D

  • girl?

  • No, but I like them!

  • wow this is amazing. what effect/reverb do you use?

  • I'm amazed !!!

You are handling the bow very good indeed ;-)

I'm confused between getting an e-bow or just a simple tselo bow.

    What whould you recommend?

    Keep on inspiring...

  • I have both. They are two totally different things. I would start with the e-bow though. It's much easier to use. Thanks for your comments.

  • I tried out the e-bow a few hours ago and decided that the varity of the sounds produced are numerous and awesome,so I will start with that from the new year

    (only 7 hours remained).

Thanks for the "bow" info :-)

  • awesome job. sigure ros is a genius band. and thats a sick guitar collection you have.

is that a gibson or epiphone les paul that your playing?

  • Thank you. It's a cheap gibson copy with epiphone pickups I'm playing.

  • it would be cooler if jonsi was like paige and broke the bow all the time and kept playing. good cover btw. i had the actual song playing along with you and.. well you did a good job.

  • Girls kick ass indeed..

  • very cool!

  • NICE!!! Very very scary, NICE!!!!

  • I screwd my pickups because of the wax from the bow...

  • does it really happens???? I play a lot with a bow!

  • well..it's an old bow...and I think my dad had put wax in it..I dunno...

bythe way...anywone recommend a real e-bow? not the sigurros song..the little electric thing.. is it worth it..?

  • i wish i had a bow cuz i play guitar and i hav a bunch of ideas for guitar riffs and stuff with a bow

  • bow or e-bow? don't use old bows..or at least avoid it..maybe it's just me..but I don't recommend it!! cheers

  • e-bows are very cool, I have one and love it, but they're more designed to be background ambient noise

  • this is purely awesome~~~!

reminds me a bit of the silent hill

    great work!

  • Nice!

Could you post what settings you use for bowing? In terms of EQ, delay, reverb, etc...

Been trying to replicate that kind of sound with a bow, but no luck so far.

  • nice

  • aare you using a particulary Effect .. like an echoe or something like that???' i would like to know it .. thanks

  • Wow I love this song though I never even thought of learning it on a guitar, was it a real challenge or were you able to figure out the notes?

    BTW nice LP.

  • Hi. You can't find any notes on the internet. I just figured it out by being a little experimental.

  • That's so cool! I've never heard the real song before but it's so super cool. Also, did you start detuning your guitar in the middle of song? And one more thing, I like your guitar collection in the background

  • Thank you. Yes I tuned it down and up again - just to make a new sound.

  • That's so cool! Good job

  • wow! Nice job! :D

I've been looking for that sound for a long, long time!, what equipment are you using,.. delay pedals, or reverp? :D....

  • thank you.

Reverb and delay does the work.

  • love you

  • sounds like human voice singing. beautiful.

  • holy shit!! thats pretty good>

  • How much was your bow?

  • Did you play Cello or Violin, or anything with a Bow before or did you just learn this for guitar?

  • I only play guitar.

  • The actual bow is jst as good as the ebow, well played. I liked it!

  • good job... ^__^

  • Are you a girl guitarist? Judging by the sticker you have, you are. So am I!

    Pride!

  • no.. but I like girls...

  • you have really great timing and great expression... sounds 95% like jonsi. now if only I could find some people around here to play sigur ros music as well as you do...!

  • Terrific sound. Les Paul's always have such a nice sustain. Great video. Well done.

  • I use a bow with my tele. It's not that hard. Sounds really good.

  • nice guitars! nice vid!

  • thank you.

  • how did i get that efect whit a boss gt-8
