I've had my 65 up to 154 calculated, 163 according to the gps unit. only have a hot 302/ auto. took it for ever to get there. gona go to a 408 soon as I finish it. got $10k worth of susp work on it for road racing, no way i'd go over 100 on stock.
be hard to tell cause the 65 mustang speedometer only goes up to 120...so he would have to have somebody else go 160 beside him. plus i wouldnt risk it if all he has done is put a motor in it. the suspension in a 65 isnt to amazing.
hi i like the sound of your engine who built it for you, i ahve a 65 fastback mustang and i was wondering if you could recomend a good builer that is reasonable in price, for a 408w engine
Thanks for the comments guys, I sold it to a guy that I am sure will take care of it and finish it for me.He lived in the San Fernando Valley area so I drove the car there from San Diego and it ran like a dream. Sold it for 8500.00. joelnorberg.I don't think performer heads will do the trick for a 408. I would go with AFR 185cc or bigger. I have seen a combo with an Edelbrock Airgap, Comp Cams 282 cam and AFR 185cc on a 408 that made 528 HP to the wheels with a T56.
@johnnyr3 Hey man im looking to spend about the same amount you sold your car for to get a "65 mustang, what should i be lookin to get out of $8500?? any help is appreciated thanks alot.
Im thinking about building a new engine with a stroked merlin block to 408" for my 67. Its a 351w tuned up to about 400 hp with edelbrock intake and heads with a mild cam in it rigt now. but much wants more. Du you think edelprock performer RPM heads will give som more with a more hysteric cam cubic and compression ratio?
bad to the bone!!
