I am sure he is good hearted in expressing his concerns, but they don't address well the academic debate surrounding geoengeneering.
Quick points:
1) Warming is not the only problem, yes, but is a huge one.
2) Methods without airplains have been proposed that'd be very cost effective.
3) We know what happens when, and risk assessment is optimistic on, sufur is thrown in the atmosphere (as happened before with volcanoes).
4) geo-engeneering will not save calcareous animals :( Nothing will.
