It's one of Stern's better looking machines, and it plays great! I love the magnets that whip the ball around and send it flying erratically in different directions.
And for having licenses vs not licenses, the kids are more likely to play Iron man than they are to play Pinbot, or White Water. For adults, it might not bother them as much as trying out something like those 2, but kids want to play something that is in the public eye. I have went to 3 big arcade places, and all 3 don't have pinball anymore. Granted, they are the same corporation, but 1 place had like 4 pinball games from Stern, and they are all gone. One had 2 Spidermans, and no more.
I don't think this machine looks that great except for when the robot came up, but other than that, it's what the pinball people have now, and embrace it while pinball is still around. With the LCD screens, and just having a better screen, pinball games for people to buy are enough money, and for them to add that, it would be much worse. These arcades don't want to pay exrtra money into pinball machines later on, and they are dying.
I love the theme but I feel like it's time Stern actually did something original. I miss the times when pinball didn't have to rely so heavily on a licensed theme like a tv show of feature film. Plus, it seems all they make are ramp shots. There aren't any "open" play fields where the ball will just go into random places because of pop bumpers and the like. Miss the days of the pins from the 70's and early 80's.
@brettv8 Pinball 2000 was a little bit different, but I like them.I am talking about a Lcd to replace the DMD,Game play is the most important But I love watching my DMD on ST TNG during and after game play.Part off the total pinball experience!!
@scooterpinballman I agree STTNG has a good all round package, the sound in particular is stunning. Deep game that would struggle without DMD, imagine it with alpha numeric.
That said there is a certain charm in the older games, and sometimes simple is better for operating. T2 would have been better with alpha numeric in my opinion.
It has rom 0.7 now and does seem to have all the main modes but nothing after playing all of them yet. And stacking of modes seems to be some times you can do it and other times you can not.
game does not have any kickers just up posts and magnets.
Its 2010 and pinball machines are still using 4-color DMD displays? Pinball needs innovation to stay alive, not stagnation. Stern has failed miserably.
@gentleuterus Nobody cares about the display. The problem is Stern is a cheap ahole, & pops out boring lifeless Turds like this, & BBH. A new run of Medieval Madness's or Theater of Magic's, made today, would outsell All of Sterns machines Period. (at double the prices) Artistry & Quality is what is needed. Not a bunch of lame photoshoped pictures all over a halfass machine with shitty MONO SOUND. An LCD cant make up for lousy gameplay, poorly executed theme, bad sound quality, etc.
Nice looking machine - can't wait to play it! Buck Hunter was a relief - a great game. Stern is so hit or miss (can't stand Indy, love Batman, etc.). Iron Man will hopefully be a great machine. Keep up the (mostly) great work, Stern!
Thanks for getting this up- great vid! I get the feeling it could get boring quick but I'll wait and see. Man, thank god stern still makes pins but I still long for new Williams.
Iron Man would be a perfect pinball theme, since both of them have to do with moving electronic parts and fancy gadgets. But, this game looks similar to Indiana Jones. Seriously though, I hope it does well since Stern is the last maker of pinball machines.

How come Stern never carried on the Pinball 2000 technology that Williams and Bally adopted just before leaving the pinball industry?

Great looking game,BUT it needs an LCD display

@scooterpinballman I dont think the display matters, its the game play. Look at pinball 2000, lovely graphics but the gameplay leaves me cold.

also skill shot is way to easy to make.
There was no rule card on it as well.

@gentleuterus
color lcd needs more rom space / more time needed to art work as well.

@gentleuterus, keep in mind that they have a limited budget. I agree with using an LCD, but they have to stretch their money as far as possible...

Great video of the machine.
Looks like a combo of Big Buck Hunter and Zizzles' Marvel Super Heros
I hope it sells well and keeps Stern and Pinball alive!

I played this at Gameworks and thought it was very boring. Hopefully the software update will make it better, but I can't see by how much. :(
