It's pretty muffled. Built-in mic has much much more clarity but picks up more noise (since it's, you know, a better mic overall. That can easily be removed in any audio editing software)

Can you use this to amplify your voice - like a P.A. system? Want to use it to hear my father-in-law - he is very soft spoken and thought this would help amplify his voice so a crowd could listen to his stories.

It would be kind of weird to get this if you use it for calling people on your iPhone. You would look really stupid in public with a microphone in your hands instead of your built in microphone.
