Thanks for the memories...You have taken me back on a nostalgic journey when my dear friends came to see me (1972) and I took them for a ride through Central Park..It was just after Christmas. Your awesome video, showing such detail and even the gorgeous carousel of my childhood, has afforded me to visualize my dreams...Thank you so much for this lovely, beautiful video! Merry Christmas!
@felipobmx Which horses are you refering to? the Police Horses ? The Riding Stable Horses? The Mounted Ranger horses? We many horses here in NYC, most cities in the US and across the world have horses.
Thank you for reviving a memory and a love of many years ago. I never, in 30 years of living in NYC, saw a livery horse mistreated or malnourished. If anything, they have the love of everyone in NYC, especially their owners and children.
I've enjoyed watching your videos. Thank you for showing everyone how wonderfully the horses are loved and taken care of. I've always wanted to take a carriage ride in NYC during the snow. I live in Maryland, so that is a little tough to do. This is a great alternative until I can. Thanks again! :o)
I was at Central Park last month on Oct 17 as our orchestra played at Carnegie Hall on the 18th. Dad and I went on a carriage ride (don't know who the driver was) and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I definitely want to come back in the winter time and take a ride in the snow.
I wonder if you can get something passed to protect this business from hasslers. If you could prove that these people degrade the value of each carriage ride by hassling you and your customers, perhaps you can get someone high up to hear you out? One can hope.
I know, I have watched your videos of your horses, taking them to the farm...they are beautiful, and obviously loved and well taken care of. I think this whole carriage horse thing has been blown way out of proportion....the way one bad apple spoils the whole bunch. I have no doubt that the truth is they are well taken care of. I think it is a beautiful thing, actually. I think your videos are excellent. Thank you for letting the truth be known.
Then, explain all the live footage, & photographs taken of some of these horses suffering; cars & carriages smashed, & unbelievably filthy, small stables? Maybe you truely love and care for your horse. You may treat it with the utmost kindness...which is wonderful if you do. But no amount of kindnesses and love can keep the horses & their drivers safe on the streets of any city...especially ones as congested as NYC. I don't want to anger you. I don't want to see youor your horse hurt or dead :(
The horses 'suffering,' are those the videos horsesinnyc has taken of horses standing in traffic, by chance? You, know, where the horses are standing calmly and walking without worrying? The images of small, filthy stables? Where do they come from, seeing as people generally are NOT allowed into the carriage stable? SLST has footage of the stables, and the fantastic box stalls the horses live in.
And watching you with your horses makes me happy!~ I came across an interesting quote this morning..."If we were to wake up some morning and find that everyone was the same race, creed and color, we would find some other cause for prejudice by noon. "
George Aiken I guess that could pertain to people who always seem to find something inhumane in everything that has to do with treatment of animals. They are so out to blame people they become blind to the good. Hmmm did that make sense?
Yes, that makes good sense. I've said all along that some people are more interested in hating other people than they are about the animal welfare. Well put, and I love that quote.
And yes, accidents have happened, and it's sad. But my old gelding fell and broke his neck just playing in the field. No amount of love and kindness can keep a horse 100% safe PERIOD. Accidents happen, and yet in 25 years there have only been 3 fatal accidents in NYC. That is an AMAZING record.
I'm so sorry about your gelding...yes, unfortunately accidents can happen anywhere... and I have heard of some pretty unbelievable ones...to animals, to people...you never know. My friends dad was killed when he slipped on a wayward sock on the basement stairs. He broke his neck too. Every living thing is vulnerable to accidents...which is sad.
@StopLiesSeeTruth I could probably ask my aunt this she has a retired buggy horse she did weddings and other events with. But is there anything you can tell me to get started in this?
Now that's what it's all about! Dashing through the snow, in a one horse open sleigh (dray in this case) All the fields we go laughing all the way .....
Remember that little ditty about horse abuse??!! You petaphiles!!
Just found this video. How lovely and peaceful. . . Like a trip back in time. Don't let the haters get you down- Keep driving.

I know...after I wrote that above, I went to his channel, and what I saw made me VERY happy!~

Our job IS to make people happy. We can't do that unless our horses are happy.
The ara's are the only ones who are not happy. But who cares. The only thing that makes them happy is when they imagine aabuse!

We have had three equine fatalities in traffic in 25 years. That's an awesome safety record!!
As for the horrible pictures of stables etc, they are not of NYC.
Watch my vids see the truth, or come by and see our horses.
If our business s soo abusive, then why has no one EVER been chrged with anyform of abuse?!?! NEVER!!
Our horses are to be seen by millions of people every day.
YOU HAVE BEEN MISLED/
I've been in business 23 years, never had a horse hurt or killed!!
FACTS!

Has there ever been enough snow at one time to do sleigh rides in Central Park? Or is that something best reserved for other areas?
Sabot46290 2 years ago
If you do a search around youtube you'll find some footage and or pictuers from the late 1800's.
No sleigh rides in the city these days though.
StopLiesSeeTruth 2 years ago
That makes me so jealous! We don't have a place so beautiful to give rides.
