Awww very cute. :) I don't know if you've heard this or not, but petting a cockatiel on the back means you're stimulating her sex hormones. She might become sexually frustrated and bite, and may even start to lay eggs. Just a tip!

My grandma has the same coloured cocatiel:) his name is joey! but hes not as tame as your bird. maybe cuz he shares a cage with his girlfriend Jojo. she white with a grey head. she the sweetest bird ever :)))

I'm not 100% sure but I heard that if u pet their backs they remind them of mating and they get excited and will try to "flirt" with u so...yeah..

i have two male normal gray white faced cockatiels just like yours and a baby cinnamon pied white face...they're so cute..i love all three of them like they're my babies :o)

@freewilly2jesse great observation! you are correct! When it is up, the bird is either curious or just plane content. When it is vry tight against the bird's head, it is frightened, if it is just on the head gently its normal

@beatricexox push your finger ur bird body and say shake .he will naturaly put his leg on your finger when he does move ur finger back before he put the other leg on it and then give him a treat( treats like : millet spray ,vegetabels ,fruits,or his food that you are feeding him ) , keep repeating this and take ur finger little by little far from him after a while he will understand that when he shake he gets a treat so when u say shake he will put his leg on your hand.

Question my cockatiel is with me every time now and it lets me pet its head... there is even times it just stares at me and chirps so i can pet its head... but if i pet its wing or w.e its freaks out... i had this bird for about 3-4 month now and it took me like 2 weeks for it to get on my hand or shoulder

i forgot to mention in my other coment i had a cockatiel very similar to yours, his name was Coco. we hand fed him because his mom for some reson didnt want anything to do with the poor thing. so we had him for about 2 years then my mom had to give him away cuz we had too many birds. about 3 love birds, 2 parakeets, 3 cockatiels so yea we had to give some away. buy the way i still have 1 parakeet her name is cookie we thought it was a male and it came out to be female.

He's so handsome!!! I love the gentleness you show torwards him too. I see his cage in the background, I think he needs a few more toys. Those water bottles are terrible for bacteria building up inside. Your best bet is a regular water bowl that you clean and refill everyday. Sometimes he'll like to try to take a bath in it. I raise baby cockatiels and would love to give you more pointers on his care if you want to know. How long have you had him?

oh, thank you! I've had him for around a year, I got him when he was like 3 months old.

Yes, I moved him to a cage 3 times the size of that one because i realized it was too small and his tail was braking.

I also, took a couple of the toys my parakeet and lovebird had and put them in his cage.

He enjoys his new cage very much.

Oh, and sorry I keep calling him a her, it's just a bad habit, because before he was fully feathered i thought he was a she.

its just a habit..lol

hehe cute bird, but Kirby is a boy. ;) The male White-faced cockatiels, have just that a White Face, the female do not. :) Cute shake trick though I'm almost getting mine to do it too :3
