  • Very Nice !! I may try this on My 2GHz iMac !!! tnak you. V.

  • This is genius! Funny and informative. Very nicely done - oh, and congrats on getting the new drive in. Definitely not trivial.

  • @metube7 Thanks! This was 2 years ago though but it still works fine. And I did just get myself the newest and most powerfull 27" iMac I could get actually. Yay!

  • I don't want one of those pieces of shit.

  • This vid helped me, thanks :) oh and it was a crack up hahaha loved it, P.S love your hair too :p

  • bloody hell. apple is SO FAIL making this like heinously offensivley difficult to change. I enjoyed hte vid though. amusing. That's definitely not something I want to do. btw, had western digital drive crash in short time, I'll never buy their drives again.

  • this video cracked me up. - thanks for posting

  • @ekendra Heh, You're very welcome.

  • @maniak2pc Cool, good to know. Thanx for sharing!

  • Macs are soo anti-custom. Torx screws, pain in the ass disassembly, oh, and the fact that if you screw up ONE THING its about worthless.

  • @dreadhawk123 agreed, I've used macs for 20 years, but their software (OS) and hardware are locked down, taking away the freedom to hack and use the computer (upgrades, w/e) the way you want to). I now officially hate over-priced, locked-down, limitied software piece of shit apple products. I'm interested in android and linux (and some windows) though.

  • Is as ssd also possible on this one?

  • @ivoafcajax I don't really know much about ssd hard drives, so I have no idea if they will fit/work on the white iMacs.

  • Why didn't you just take the back off to get at the hard drive?

  • @mitreswell I'm pretty sure that's not possible.

  • Great job on this. I just used it as my only guide for a tear down and replacement (WD Caviar Blue 1TB). No problems at all; Snow Leopard is installing as I type. Thanks!

  • @ZachMatthews1 Thanks, glad I could help.

  • Neat. 2k$ for a machine they put together with glue and duct tape.

  • Gay

  • :)

    :)

    :)

    :)

    :)

  • Awesome buddy, I just don't have the nerves to do it myself

  • Thank you Thank you Thank you!!! I just got this thing up and running it was a paper weight for the longest. I dreaded going to a "mac tech" to get fleeced.... Well done video

  • Crap, the HD on my imac failed after two years of usage. The 8 year old Dell I am back to using did not break down at all. I only added memory. I will look for help before attempting the HD replacement on the Mac myself. On the Dell this is a no brainer. I tried being a Mac, but I am back to PC.

  • Very good, very useful - great video

  • good job. that looked totally epic and now i fear when i burn up 1 TB i'll have to do all this myself... wish they made it easier.

  • great job

  • nice music!

  • have no idea if this vid will be of any use at all, but I enjoyed it!

  • oh my god, I will never buy an imac.. you can't modify it at all..pcs ftw idiots -.-

  • perfect. thanks for making this. exactly what I needed. (and great music, too!)

  • wow, flustrating, but great music... i dont wanna try with my 24" screen :)

  • exacly why you dont buy a mac... @ all errors he made and how he had to fast forward the whole vid.... on a PC its literally 3 minutes real time to replace a HDD on my antec 300 case at least...

  • @acefilms2008 apple are funny this way. The power macs pop open with a latch and take a few minutes as well, but I think the audience they aim the imac at, they assume, know nothing about computers. Hell, even the macbooks hard drives are much easier to replace then this.

  • Easy job, thanks for the Video, saved me £80. My advise is just take it slow and you will be fine. Lots of tape to undo on the screen at the top which is fiddly.

  • Why don't computer companies just make clip on/ slide out HDD.

    Like on the Xbox 360?

  • cause your hdd is full of stuff you probs need and some one could steal it ? lol

  • @iM4cSupport

They could give you a lock.

and why would someone steal my HDD?

Unless they want my system files?

  • @SunnyBobJim truee lol

  • @iM4cSupport

    lool

  • Gee, I'm happy I had the extended 3 year warranty when my HDD died last year. Not a project I would take on a rainy sunday evening. Love the audible comments!

  • thanks for posting this ,you have made up my mind i would rater get a new imac than go trough wot you have :)

  • Good stuff sir... (=

  • Why thank you very much Mr. Wulf.

  • hey you! whatcha doing here?? :)

  • I thought it was like 5 minutes real time :P haha.

  • Really?! He he, måske lidt med vilje jeg har valgt at bruge den titel.

  • Hehe jeg tænkte også: "5 minutter det er fandme imponerende..." Men hatten af for dig. Jeg ville have givet op og købt en PC :P
