Maybe people should start managing their time, lol. I play WoW. I'm level 85 (maximum level in the game) and I don't play nonstop. It gets boring so I do something else. It's not that hard, people. Just learn to quit when you're bored, not just stay playing. Because honestly, how can you really find something to do in WoW after 8 hours straight?
I have the solution. Make a shitty expansion and call it cataclysm then make a shittier one called mist of pandaria and all gamers and addicts will be forced to quit out of the shear gayness of it all.

well, it is only a waste of time if you dont enjoy it. In the end, everything we do comes down to some sort of pleasure. Everything. @Smackiiii the issue is that it has such a social aspect i have over 70 friends who are in another country and i have never met in real life i talk to them over ventrillo i know their real names and even talk to some of their families. one of my friends from WoW has moved from Australia to the U.S. for school and chose a school close to me in order to meet me in real life there is profound social aspect people don't see. what other game REQUIRES 25 people to be FLAWLESSLY coordinated?

I play a game much like WoW called lotro which is quite similar. I'm not obese, ugly, mental, or anything. I just moderate how much I play. I'm usually on lotro anywhere from 3-5 hours a week all the way up to 10 hours a week. It's really not that much compared to how much others play. Sometimes I don't even play it for awhile until intrest spikes again. Other than that I play way less nerdy game, it's called Battlefield 3 and Modern Warfare 3.
I think that the world right now is really messed up and gaming is just a way to forget about it...but i think there are other activities that would sort of make you forget about the issues such as idk dancing, skateboarding, singing, parkour, but i think most people just choose gaming because it is easier and doesnt take any effort. But there are also the people that get way too involved and need a doce of reality

WoW is just as addictive as any other video game out there such as Call of Duty or Battlefield. The reason so many hate or put emphasis on WoW's "addictions" is because it was the first and the content is different. An addiction to an video game is the the players own choice and is not the fault of game companies. Because of these addicted players and bad assumptions, the 85% of the players who are not addicts receive all of the harassment. Attack them, not us and the game.
I don't play World of Warcraft, but I got friends that do. And there's one guy in particular. I remember coming to school rushing everywhere, and on the breaks he brought up his laptop and started playing. I asked him what was going on, as he seemed so stressed. He shouted right up in my face that he had to advance three levels until the next day so that he could spend the rest of the weekend rading with his friend. Tragic.

If someone enjoyed clubbing seals then theoretically they could become addicted to that. If someone struggles to do anything other than play WoW (or any other game for that matter) then it's not the fault of the game but the fault of the person/due to their circumstances. I play a game much like WoW called lotro which is quite similar. I'm not obese, ugly, mental, or anything. I just moderate how much I play. I'm usually on lotro anywhere from 3-5 hours a week all the way up to 10 hours a week. It's really not that much compared to how much others play. Sometimes I don't even play it for awhile until intrest spikes again. Other than that I play way less nerdy game, it's called Battlefield 3 and Modern Warfare 3.

I think that the world right now is really messed up and gaming is just a way to forget about it...but i think there are other activities that would sort of make you forget about the issues such as idk dancing, skateboarding, singing, parkour, but i think most people just choose gaming because it is easier and doesnt take any effort. Oh god.....Listen World Of Warcraft it's a good game for those who likes playing BUT as every videogame it has to be played with moderation..... I play '' WoW '' 2 hourse per day and the rest of it i always stay out with my firends.... I don't know how it works in your country but I'm italian and i've never heard about people playing more than 10 hours per day (wich are also too much). In conclusion u shoul not criticise a game or things that u've never done 'cause u don't know anything of them.

WoW is just as addictive as any other video game out there such as Call of Duty or Battlefield. The reason so many hate or put emphasis on WoW's "addictions" is because it was the first and the content is different. An addiction to an video game is the the players own choice and is not the fault of game companies. Because of these addicted players and bad assumptions, the 85% of the players who are not addicts receive all of the harassment. Attack them, not us and the game.

I don't play World of Warcraft, but I got friends that do. And there's one guy in particular. I remember coming to school rushing everywhere, and on the breaks he brought up his laptop and started playing. I asked him what was going on, as he seemed so stressed. He shouted right up in my face that he had to advance three levels until the next day so that he could spend the rest of the weekend rading with his friend. Tragic.

If someone enjoyed clubbing seals then theoretically they could become addicted to that. If someone struggles to do anything other than play WoW (or any other game for that matter) then it's not the fault of the game but the fault of the person/due to their circumstances. That's what the evidence says.

If you can shoot a ball in a goal, throw a ball in a basket, race a car to the finish line or move a bunch of pawns around you should be able to play a competitive video game. The social stigma connected to games like World of Warcraft is just another effect caused by society's ever lasting difficulty accepting and understanding new things. They are always met with resistance and believed to be "bad" because they don't follow the norms of our current society. People will understand, one day.

Nice documentary! I think we are in the trasition to a more digital-based society, where major social interactions will be done through the internet, and there's no way to stop it! WoW is just the top of the iceberg, we have Facebook, Instant messengers.. the world is adopting these tools as a way to ease life.Its pointless to discuss if its bad or good for the new generations, the thing is that these are here and are becoming as common as the TV and causing the same discussion it did in the 60s

I'm not saying don't play on it. Just don't go on it for 15 hours straight. I mean, I play video games like cod and fifa but for 3 hours at a time maximum. Usually like, an hour a day. I love gaming too sometimes, I play for 4 hours straight on weekends. But still , I have time to study , get good grades n hang out . Guess what ? Gaming is not really an addiction , its more of compulsion as in You want to very badly, the tough part is saying no.
