  • @ted2064

Just out of curiosity: did this music have any Japanese influence? That's what it reminded me of when I first heard it. I was 12 years old in 1966, had no clue about drugs or magic mushrooms.

  • Love the use of fuzz guitar, organ, and just a little bit of reverse tape effect at the end of this song, as its the total happening garage-psych trip.

  • Is'nt this on Nuggets?

  • It's-A-Happening - Magic Mushrooms [Philadelphia, Pennsylvania] - 1966 - "Outstanding guitar HOOKS, drums. Great vocals." - Nuggets: Original Artyfacts from the First Psychedelic Era, 1965-1968 [Rhino BOX SET] (Disc 1)-1998.

  • Groovy!

  • Those were fun times....:07 just like some of my shroom trips!

  • whoa - double rainbow all the way!

  • Very nice work! Makes me want to live another hundred years!

  • classic psychedelic punk. I always liked this song. This song pretty much sums up the Sixties. The spoken stuff is great!

  • peace

  • Love

  • But it's great, ted2064, I love that one can find just about anything on the web. I've been on a kick lately of just listening to obscure psychedelia on YouTube and Pandora. Finding lots of bands I had never heard of.

  • very cool!

  • What do you guys think of the organ sound?

  • The mid 60's MUST have been a fun time...

  • They are blowing my mind

  • I am Plankontwo's brother...he shared this video with me. This video is a real trip. Thank you brother

  • LOVE IT!! great video.

  • I was the lead guitar player in this band. We recorded this song in the Fall of 1966. I am amazed that our music is on the Internet.

  • I think it's great! Such a shame it is not more well known.

  • @ted2064 I know you made this comment 1 year ago but I just want to say I love you.

  • @ted2064 Ted, did you guys really get pulled off the market because Herb Alpert found out what your name really meant and wanted you to change it, which you wouldn't do?

  • @ted2064 A little late to reply now.; but I had a friend of mine whose older brother used to have this album. We heard it in '67. I thought it was the Mothers at first(no offense) Never been able to find it anywhere. Your music deserves to be on the internet!

  • @nutella1ful Critic (and musician) Lenny Kaye put out a release called Nuggets in the mid-late 70's. It was a two-disc set and I'm pretty certain this was on it.

  • @nutella1ful The original Nuggets LP came out in 1972 on Elektra records. In 1976, Sire records re-released it and that's when I found/bought it. Great album which got me into the "Pebbles" series.

  • @ted2064

    wow! seriously?

  • @ted2064 Great job man, it was a classic. See, you public never forgets.

  • @ted2064 Y'all was on some serious stuff back then...LOL...the energy is well-felt tho'...I never heard this before, but I'm listen'n, I can dig it!!! Great work...

  • @ted2064 I bet you had a great time back then! Im born in the 90's and really, I would gladly trade it with living in the 60's when music and minds were still living.

    This is a great song!

  • @HeidiLoveUall

Thanks for the email Heidi. Where are you and what kind of music do you like. I play Irish/Celtic music now. been playing it for 4 years. I stopped playing guitar in 1969 and started again in 2006. Take care! Write back if you like.

  • @ted2064 I am living in Sweden and have always been listening to music from the 60's and 70's ever since I was little, I am also named after a song by Pink Floyd:) (See Emily Play). I like the psychedelic music from the late 60's really much. I really like the sound of Irish and celtic music too, it's so special. I can imagine you're really great at playing the guitar! I've started playing last christmas and have a lot to learn, but I really love it. Thank you for your answer! Take care too /E

  • @ted2064 Amazing song! My oldest brother has this on a nuggets LP he must have bought some 35 or more years ago. It is truly a nugget. You never know what you find on youtube, much less internet. Some good, like this, some not always as good. Oh, I told him about your posting.

  • @ted2064 dude its amazing! :O

  • @ted2064 You shouldnt be amazed. This is a great record known by me when I bought the Sire reissue of Nuggets in 1978. The obscure mid 60s, as you know, has excelled on YouTube. No longer do us Now people have to put up with that awful crap on the radio today that they call music. lol

  • @ted2064 Would you believe? That it's a happening?

  • @ted2064 i love this stuff bro!

  • @ted2064 you're a star man .love and peace to you. much respect.

  • @ted2064 your incredible music still lives! you should be proud and happy about it! great stuff!!

  • @ted2064 This is brilliant. You're a genius.

  • @ted2064 You should be very proud and honored. Would like to hear more about what that period of time and life it was for people who were in the smaller bands back then.

  • @ted2064 If you were who you say you are then you would have already known this song was famously featured on Lenny Kaye's "Nuggets" compilation back in 1972.
