Hi Peter, Congrats !! U r really an inspiration for me...I guess u didn't use any canned coils for the b/pass filter. How many turns did u wind in for the Vfo coil & which former. Pls send us the modified schematic. Would cherish to assemble the Bitx40 someday...!!
@souravrelja The VFO coil is 10uH. I initially used an RF choke but it drifted badly. 10uH but on a T50-2 toroid made a huge improvement. Other changes include mic amplifier - 150k between base and collector instead of the voltage divider biasing and 0.1uF in series with the electret mic. Electret mic is fed 12v via a 22k resistor.
Beautifully built radio Peter. Well done & great results! I move into my new house from the 16th of Jan 2012...not long after that I'll be on air with a proper home antenna. I hope to chat to you on air again soon. Happy new year too! 73, Craig VK3CRG
@vk3crg Thanks Craig - counting down the days - hope you're enjoying all the packing! You should do well from there even with the buddypole (hint: pack transceiver, cables and power supply last so they're the first box you open when you move in). Happy new year as well.
Great job on another video, Peter! You're one of the reasons for my interest in building some transceivers of my own - I purchased a BITX multiband kit over the holidays for my first radio project & I'm anxious to get started! 73, AE7KN
Peter I love your videos. They inspire me to want to pick up my soldering iron and solder and build something! I like how you keep it so simple. Keep up the good work.
You did a very good job man!! Appreciated!!!

Another impressive homebrew rig Peter. Enjoyed the video. How does it compare to the TCF design.73 Mate

@m0dad Both are good but overall I prefer the BitX due to its better receiver.
