i was up in flushing 1 day and the rawkus street team was handing out sampler tape (no not cds tapes) this song was on there....PLUS HES REPPIN 4 MY HOOD!!!!!!!
WORD, internal affairs, mos def and talib kweli are blackstar and funcrusher plus was 3 five star albums that rawkus dropped in the late 90s....the good times
"There's a place I know where the bitches go, where they rob you for dough and lay on the low in southsideeee, queens queens." there's some gangsta rap
@vijuel i heard it was not in print anymore because of a stupid sample from godzilla. its a shame for young hip hop fans such as myself who was to young to comprehend true lyricism. i just want to support the real mcs
the sick lyricism, the maxwell sample, shit was too smooth. I was bumpin the hell out of this album the night it hit the shelves on the deck in my ride. fuuuuuck! then my stupid ass mother lost every goddamn thing that meant anything to me on the fucking freeway while I was out in iraq. INCLUDING THIS FUCKING DOPE ASS ALBUM. now its not even produced, and the cheapest copy you can get is 50 bucks on amazon brand new. THIS IS SOME BULLSHIT, SOMEONE HELP ME OUT.
Could someone tell me where I can find an effected guitar sound like the one that appears 6 sec in and is used throughout the song. Would be much appreciated.
this was a great and ambitious time in hip hop. i remember all the trips to the chi (i live in milwaukee) wit cuz listenin to this album mostly this track. music was good to us...hope some of the younger cats tune in to what is original and groundbreakin hip hop!
@miRasJamal Word.. High times of Rawkus, all those great releases. Got this when it was released, and still listen to this album A LOT. This beat is so sick, gives me melancholic chills. One of the best hiphop albums ever made imho.
i remember the day i bought the album when it fresh came out and listened to this song over and over hanging out at friends house with some people and finally threw up because i drunk too much beer.
that night/ rock'n nikes/ eat'n mike n ikes slap box'n with a dike/ on a bike too small ...too sick 4 words to describe the level pharoahe monch is on
what happened to pharoahe.....went from being awesome in organized konfusion, then amazing with internal affairs....now everything he comes out with is garbage...big let down
This shit was crazy.I love this song still! Whoever did the sample was stupid for this, lol! Taking Maxwell's "til the cops come knocking and looping it like that! TRUE CLASSIC!
Peep the nodfactor blog. Theres a video of him talking about his new album "W.A.R." Should be ill. Can't believe its been ten years since this album dropped... damn.
Naa you're not the only one.. that line is hilarious and Pharoahe sound so damn cool when he says it. I love love 'queens' one of my all time fav monch tunes. He killed it forreal.
Best Monch song, and in my humble opinion.. you would have to throw this song in the top 25 best songs of all time to come out of Queens.... And this song speaks some real shit yo
I like how the beats hi/lows rhyme with the drama in this joint...pure classic!!
