Callas and Tebaldi are like the Yin and Yang that are interconnected and give rise to reach other in turn. Callas was known for being a dramatic coloratura soprano while Tebaldi was known for verismo performances. Caballe was regarded as the Callas II but she has made her own name and I consider her unique for she has her own style but sometimes sing some coloratura figurations which is probably the reason why they call her Callas II.

Giacomo Puccini would have been very much honored if he had only lived long enough to witness this lovely "la divina" performed this aria from his opera "Gianni Schicchi" in her prime. I am not trying to antagonize anyone, I am just merely expressing my humble opinion. Maria Callas rendition of "O Mio Babbino Caro" in monophony still outperforms all attempts of today's artists.

It's a toss up for me between Callas and Caballe on this one. I love both ladies but I think I like how Montserrat builds a bit more slowly towards the high notes where as Maria attacks them head on. Still both are flawless intepretations!

A pesar de que todos sabemos que todos los exponentes de bel-canto tiene como habilidad principal la voz, la Callas simplemente con su nivel interpretativo hacía que su voz en decline pasara a 2do. término y mostrara porque es la mejor cantante de ópera de siglo XX. Magnífico.
