i live in rochester and buy ALL of my equipment from the house of guitars. i own 7 guitars including a les paul and stratocaster. i just today bought my marshall half stack, and i guess i didnt know the HoG was that well known. i've been shopping there for forever.
Loved the HOG commercials as a teen. Years later at the Ritz in NYC the Ramones were performing & Joey was wearing a House of Guitars t-shirt. Wish I had my camera that night.
The Mosrite Mark II Slab Body model (The one Johnny played) Was limited in production too. It was the cheapest guitar Mosrite ever produced, Only 140 to 180 of them were ever made and it was discontinued for looking "Too cheap". Ironically it now goes for more than the most expensive production model they ever made (The Brass Rail) Which cost $1500 or so back in the 70s. You know what else, The Brass Rail is even rarer with a production of only 100 or so!
Oh man i seriously walked in that place and died. Its like haunted with all the people who have been there. it was so amazing. You have to go there a million times to even begin to see it all. GO HOG!!
House of Guitars, great place... only been there once but I already plan to get my next guitar there... definitely a must see next time your in the area, and I know they hook you up when u purchase there...
Tommy looked really different. It looked like he trimmed his hair, and was wearing glasses (at the end of the vid). He looked liked he matured within a few short years....
Lots of big name rockers shop at HOG. Check out some of the photos on the wall in the back. I used to live 40 minutes away from the store and considered myself fortunate, so you are one lucky dude (or dudette.)
I love H.O.G i would copp all my old school hip hop classic wax and tapes there in college..AHHH!!Rochester those were some good years. O yeah another good record shop in rochester was Record Archive..
Yes, he did say DAN ELECTRON, and I like at the end when he says, "Come on you guys...", like he's trying to get his friends to cough up some money to order a pizza or something.
YEAH!!!! im from ROC and man those commercials were tits... wheres the XMAS one! hOhOHO said the blue nosed guitar man, HOP HOP HOP HOP... THE STORE THAT ATE MY BRAAAAIIIN!!! HHAHA flashback city

my home, I grew up in the hollowed halls of HOG.
...you can't even imagine how sincerely cool this place, Bruce, and Armand are.
Rock Star sightings were not uncommon in teh early days
there was a wall in the back extension signed by all those who had been there...amazing
