Of all the Swedish death metal albums I love this Merciless - The Awakening (1989) the most. Sure there came At the Gates, and Dissection, it's still not as pure and great as Merciless' first album. Sort of orginator band too, because back then there weren't many Swedish death/black/thrash bands this good. Bathory and Morbid comes to mind, Morbid later split up, with vocalist going off to Mayhem (and killing himself) and drummer and guitarist forming Entombed which never was any good.
