If you would like the composer of this music, Ron Goodwin, honoured for his contribution to British cinema music, please contact me! He also did the Miss Marple Themes, 633 Squadron, Frenzy, Battle of Britain, Operation Crossbow, Where Eagles Dare ..... etc!
I was so lucky to see this as a kid at the movie theater when it first came out. One of the funniest movies ever made! So much better on the big screen than the tv sized ones.
Don't take it to heart, I take men to mean man as in mankind in this case. Australia has as one of it's national heroes Nancy Bird-Walton; google for her story.
Well...maybe the Orville/Richard/Patricia love triangle thing was in danger of being tawdry at times but the presentation made it acceptable IMO. Needless to say, the rest of the film is just brilliant.
yes this was comedy and music at its best...like what can and has happened to personal and family values in this country its irreplaceable.....the media relects this
The version of the song I often heard on the radio in the mid-1960s ended with the opening bar of "La Marseillaise" and the closing bar of "The British Grenadiers". Only about 3 years ago when I got the DVD of this movie did I make the connection: it's about a London-Paris air race.
Thanks for uploading this great piece of music. I am hearing this title song after 40 years. I enjoyed the movie in 70 mm format back in 1978. Since then I have been wanting to hear this title song. Thanks again. Ron Goodwyn is simply great.

Dear All,
I have some questions about psychology and sociology:
(1) What is the magic of flying that motivates people to write a song for it?
(2) Why do songs about flying is so attractive to us?
(3) If this song was sung by ladies, how will it different from that sung by man?
(4) Why do girls want to fly high and become a pilot? (eg. Amelia Earhart, first femlae pilot in US Altantic Ocean)
THANK YOU IN ADVANCE for your creative ideas and brainstorm!!! :)

There is NOTHING about this film that can be faulted AT ALL. It's PERFECT Comedy brilliance.

@MrDCWood actually, I think that the romantic sub-plot is pretty bad, but that's a minor issue
