i fell about 2 days ago off my longboard going extremly fast down a hill with the worst road, full of pothole and cracks.. it was the scariest 30 seconds of my life.... didnt have a helmet on... lost all the skin on my elbows.. could of been alot worse though.. just watching videos like these now puts a little fear into me

Tthe first step to slowing down is air braking. Simply let the wind resistance brake you by putting your arms out. Second is to stand up and put your back foot on the ground and drag your heel. This can slow you down quite quickly but can be unstable. 3rd, usually the safest when controlled is called a shutdown slide or speed check. With plastic on the hands you simply bend down and slide your palm on the pavement, kicking the board out and forcing your wheels sideways like a drift.

@andrewchapman30 wonder what a wing suit would be like,i dont have a problem stopping or anything but i always wanted to use a wing suit man,im working on a skate boot too,with a cup on the back for your knee to set in to help hold your tuck,it helps me out alot man,not all of us are as in as good shape as most,but with that boot i can hold tuck for days with out getting tired

When you're riding at these speeds you should be on a road that is familiar to you. It's important to know the condition of the pavement and the corners, traffic flow etc. Jumping into a lawn or "riding it out" is rarely a good option. If this is how you ride hills you should change that.

Most of these roads don't have intersections or stop signs that you need to stop for.

Stopping on the other hand is VERY important.

You can easily ride over rocks and huge cracks pushing at normal speed, which is under 20. with momentum at that speed, 1 little crack, bump, or rock, does jack shit. those wheels are soft, grippy, and forgiving, its not a problem at all.
