@Dan1ukDSJN KTM. Everyone has a Yamaha. And while Yamaha makes some great bikes, I've never come across one that could match the build quality of a KTM.
whahaha i was riding it for ov or so:P the top is just above 90 km/h when you sit up straight:PP
and it is definetly not a real ktm, it sucks asss:P how mutch does he gets paid to be postive about this mopet:P it is SO small, it comes to your knees or so:P
The engine makes 14-15 bhp and that's it,you cant derestrict it because it's a 4 stroke.
Big bore kits, exhausts and mapping dont do anything for these engines, someone spent £800 on a yzf r125 and it didn't change a thing,so do ya bike test or ride it 15bhp
It's a 4 stroke so top speed won't be alot, I have a yzf r125 and top speed is 84mph/135km in 6th at the limiter so for a naked probs more like 75mph/120km
And for the record you CAN'T de-restrict a 4 stroke 125! only 2 strokes can be restricted and de-restricted!
What a joke.. Guess my tuned up Kawasaki KSR. Will give me more fun for the money !! I love KTM and the look of the Duke. But 125cc thats fucking gay if u asking me,,.....
@xXMartinHDXx its restricted alot so if u take them off the engine and get a power exhaust and change some parts, not the engine u can get it to 160, change brackets

BAHAHAHA. Ok so don't send a KTM engineer in a suit to tell them, send a fat bloke with dirty jeans ON CAMERA....bahahahaha. Who runs KTM? LMAO What a stupid company.
@cyborgpeanut, after owning a KTM for two years, I know exactly why they did not sponsor the long way around. The KTM would have broken down after about 300k. My duke had 8,000km on the odometer when I bought it. It was amazing when it was running.... I became close friends with my mechanic. I know have a Kawasaki, and I could not be happier.
Is there a more out of touch bike company than KTM? I'm surprised they are still in business. We are in the worst recession EVER with no end in sight, they bring out a hugely expensive 125cc "starter" bike. Anyone else find something wrong here? Recession..."oh yeah lets make a really expensive starter bike to get kids started on bikes". The kids in question...their parents are struggling to pay the bills, where will they find the money to buy this bike for them? WTF???
@MrPeet5000 If you really want to spend lots of money then go for it , just be prepared for the fact that its your first bike and you may drop it or damage it. If i was you id buy a cheaper 2nd hand bike , and save the money for when you have more riding experience :)
@nuno1007 Not true. Europe isn't a country, it's many countries and as such has many different laws and regulations. This is not a "starter bike" but a "young persons bike" in Europe (mostly), depends on which country. For example you can ride a 125cc in Italy when you reach 16 years old without a licence. But in the UK you have to be 18 as long as you pass your CBT and put on learner plates. If you pass your motorbike licence, you are allowed to ride up to 33bhp for the first 2 years.
@nuno1007 So most people in the UK lump for a 250cc seeing the Ninja 250R is under 33bhp and now the CBR250..these are "starter bikes"...for the UK anyway. And there are NO BIKES you can ride with "just an automobile licence" in the UK (don't know about other countries) except for a 50cc moped, but even then there are restrictions (i.e. licence taken before 2001) otherwise you need your CBT licence. I htink in Spain you can ride a 125cc when you're 14..hence all the good motogp riders.
@bullbollox In Portugal you can ride a 125 if you have an automobile licence and you're 25 or older. If you're younger, you need to get a bike's license and ride a 125 until you're 21, then you're free to ride whatever you want. I've got a car and I'm 25 and thinking about buying a bike, so either I buy a 125 or pay about 400€ to get a license and buy something bigger. I'd like a 250 right now, but I might just skimp a bit on power and buy a 125 instead without taking a licence...
@nuno1007 The youngest age you can ride over 33bhp (i..e a 250cc) in the UK is 21 I believe...but in Italy it is 18 and most countries (France, Germany, Spain) have similar laws to Italy. Britain has some of the strictest most idiotic and draconian laws in regards to vehicles, in the world...and we drive on the fricking wrong side of the road...don't care what they say, I've driven both left and right side and it's more natural left-sided...silly country Britain is..as if that's news huh?
@bullbollox in the UK if you are 21 or over you can get your Direct Access licence which entiles you to ride any bike even a 2300cc triumph rocket :D, when your 16 you can only ride a 50cc for one year then you can upgrade to a 125cc with L plates,
@bullbollox but then comes the fun when you are 17 you can also do A1 test which entitles you to ride a 125cc without the L plates and drive on motorways and also the A2 which entitles you to ride a 250cc to 350cc machine for two years and then you automaticly upgrade to a full direct licence so you can ride 2300cc bikes
@MarcinM592 You're wrong. About the A2 licence: it doesn't go by cc but by horsepower, hence riders who pass the test and buy the bike they want to use in 2 years (i.e. a Honda CBR600) and stick a limiter on. As I said, the only limit is the horsepower which it has to be below 33hp. If you're going to try to correct me and generally act like a smart arse, at least check your facts beforehand. ;)
@tonyster2, This bike in a 250 or 400 and I would buy it period. I love my 625 duke 2, but sometimes I just want something simple to run to town on. I have been looking at a 250 as just a grocery getter. I absolutely love the looks of this bike.
Nice looking bike. If I lived in the city, I wouldn't mind having one of them as long as I can keep my normal bike. I think it would work fine as is in an urban area, but it seems odd they would go with a 125 when 250 seems like the unofficial standard size for a starter bike.
four stroke isn't the way to go when it comes to 125cc bikes.. At that age all you care about is tuning your bike, and you can make a the 2-stroke bike go so much faster
that thing is so awesome. but i have a feeling that they are going to find that a 125cc 4 stroke is simply to small. they should make a 250 duke. that would be so awesome
@FuZZy961 correction... after further thought; It's not something I would get my 9 year old nephew...I'd give it to my niece. The boy wouldnt touch it
im a young (19) rider and wouldnt touch one of those. i love ktms but still its to much. its too much money for to little power. most young riders are getin old like 600 ninjas and getin them restricted. the 125 market is dieing. a majorit of the time they are bout by underage rider to be used off rode. at the moment im ridin a 1985 bmw r100 ex police issue. its perfect for round london and perfect on country rounds. also it cheap as. restiction is the way (cause u can take it out lol)
Although its a lovely Bike Young Men around 16 - 21 will buy this not many want to spend so much becuse although it looks Great its still only a 125cc.
If I was to Buy a 125 id spend my money on a CBR125cc or something much more sylish and cheaper if you shop around :)
To me if your gonna spend that much on a 125 you could only get one bike, the aprilia rs, You can limit it before you pass your full license then afterwards you have around 30bhp which is great for the 2 year 33bhp limit
What a fucking rip off, how do they expect a young noob rider to afford this bike?! A friend of mine has one and regrets purchasing for the price. Most young riders will always go for the cheaper option of a used 2 stroke bike, because of the sound, power and street cred ;). They are asking near 4 grand for this!? Why would a new rider go for this as apose to a Yammy DT for example, which you can pick up for a grand? wow, what a total RIP OFF.
@Sonaris100 yea i would never, ever, ever recommend someone to spend over £1,500 on a first bike. I think it's the monthly payment schemes that catch them, yoofs today love owt like phone contracts, they only think about now, not releasing they're spending £4K on a bike they'll either drop or get nicked from them.
@Sonaris100 they saw yamaha were doing good with their yzf 125 so they decided to copy, simple as! 125's are there to get you through your test and nothing more. If you need a 125 commuter bike buy a CG or something for a few hundred quid. I respect Honda CG's way more than YZF's, they're just trying to fool people into thinking its a 600 even though a bus out accelerates it :P 2-smokers are the future though, got a DT 125 as my learner bike and loved every second of it.
Whoever that was doing the narrating/review NEEDS to be on there more often. He has a natural look when he speaks, along with great inflection and intonation.
Bike Question: Why wouldn't this bike have dual disc front brakes? Or would it not even be needed since it's only a 125?
Have never forgiven KTM for being complete bastards (and falling flat on their faces) in regards to Charlie and Ewan in "The Long Way Round". I also don't like their arrogant attitude when it comes to producing a sports bike (RC8) and not even bothering to prove its worth on a circuit and it astounds me how journos can put it up against track proven bikes with a sports pedigree in tests. I will never buy a KTM as long as I live. KTM = Ikea on wheels.
@59FIFTYMAX I have just got on a old (1990) Italian NSR125 and i bet it runs circles around this crap :)
I really don't see the point in these 4 stroke 125s. I'm slightly looking forward to the motogp dropping two stroke 125s and moving to 250s. hopefully it brings more 250s into the market place and maybe the laws will change about what you can ride when you are 17. A 125cc two stroke can put out about the same power as a 250 4 stroke so why can't i ride one on a cbt? :)
@eFzjcb121 Exactly dude. i have a KTM 07 exc 125 supermoto'd cost me 2000 and is way better than this heap of 4 stroke rubbish. 2 strokes are cheaper, lighter and produce more power so i dont understand why they do not use them for all 125cc's.
If what your saying about the 250s is true. oh man i cannot wait. Hopefully they re produce the Aprilia Rs 250 2 stroke. Now that thing fly's but they are hard to get hold of these days. I have a video of my KTM if you'd like the link, i made it private.

In Europe 125cc bikes can be ridden with a standard automobile license, hence they are starter bikes.
nuno1007 10 months ago
@nuno1007 Not true. Europe isn't a country, it's many countries and as such has many different laws and regulations. This is not a "starter bike" but a "young persons bike" in Europe (mostly), depends on which country. For example you can ride a 125cc in Italy when you reach 16 years old without a licence. But in the UK you have to be 18 as long as you pass your CBT and put on learner plates. If you pass your motorbike licence, you are allowed to ride up to 33bhp for the first 2 years.
bullbollox 10 months ago
@nuno1007 So most people in the UK lump for a 250cc seeing the Ninja 250R is under 33bhp and now the CBR250..these are "starter bikes"...for the UK anyway. And there are NO BIKES you can ride with "just an automobile licence" in the UK (don't know about other countries) except for a 50cc moped, but even then there are restrictions (i.e. licence taken before 2001) otherwise you need your CBT licence. I htink in Spain you can ride a 125cc when you're 14..hence all the good motogp riders.
bullbollox 10 months ago
@bullbollox In Portugal you can ride a 125 if you have an automobile licence and you're 25 or older. If you're younger, you need to get a bike's license and ride a 125 until you're 21, then you're free to ride whatever you want. I've got a car and I'm 25 and thinking about buying a bike, so either I buy a 125 or pay about 400€ to get a license and buy something bigger. I'd like a 250 right now, but I might just skimp a bit on power and buy a 125 instead without taking a licence...
pedrojoper 10 months ago
@nuno1007 The youngest age you can ride over 33bhp (i..e a 250cc) in the UK is 21 I believe...but in Italy it is 18 and most countries (France, Germany, Spain) have similar laws to Italy. Britain has some of the strictest most idiotic and draconian laws in regards to vehicles, in the world...and we drive on the fricking wrong side of the road...don't care what they say, I've driven both left and right side and it's more natural left-sided...silly country Britain is..as if that's news huh?
bullbollox 10 months ago
@bullbollox in the UK if you are 21 or over you can get your Direct Access licence which entiles you to ride any bike even a 2300cc triumph rocket :D, when your 16 you can only ride a 50cc for one year then you can upgrade to a 125cc with L plates,
MarcinM592 10 months ago
@bullbollox but then comes the fun when you are 17 you can also do A1 test which entitles you to ride a 125cc without the L plates and drive on motorways and also the A2 which entitles you to ride a 250cc to 350cc machine for two years and then you automaticly upgrade to a full direct licence so you can ride 2300cc bikes
MarcinM592 10 months ago
@MarcinM592 You're wrong. About the A2 licence: it doesn't go by cc but by horsepower, hence riders who pass the test and buy the bike they want to use in 2 years (i.e. a Honda CBR600) and stick a limiter on. As I said, the only limit is the horsepower which it has to be below 33hp. If you're going to try to correct me and generally act like a smart arse, at least check your facts beforehand. ;)

This bike in 250cc would be my starter.
tonyster2 10 months ago 22
@tonyster2, This bike in a 250 or 400 and I would buy it period. I love my 625 duke 2, but sometimes I just want something simple to run to town on. I have been looking at a 250 as just a grocery getter. I absolutely love the looks of this bike.

Nice looking bike. If I lived in the city, I wouldn't mind having one of them as long as I can keep my normal bike. I think it would work fine as is in an urban area, but it seems odd they would go with a 125 when 250 seems like the unofficial standard size for a starter bike.
fofalooza 10 months ago
four stroke isn't the way to go when it comes to 125cc bikes.. At that age all you care about is tuning your bike, and you can make a the 2-stroke bike go so much faster
animeonperseest 10 months ago
looks like a nice bike to ride down to the mailbox and back.
IngloriousSob 10 months ago
looks great, if i were 16.....
tonicroatia 10 months ago
that thing is so awesome. but i have a feeling that they are going to find that a 125cc 4 stroke is simply to small. they should make a 250 duke. that would be so awesome

ok, now let's wait for Ducati to make 125s.

Something I would get for my 9 year old nephew
Then I realised the price. Same price I could pick up a '09 R6 in mint condition...get stuffed
FuZZy961 10 months ago
@FuZZy961 correction... after further thought; It's not something I would get my 9 year old nephew...I'd give it to my niece. The boy wouldnt touch it
FuZZy961 10 months ago
this bike was developed by indias!!!!
proud 2 me indian!!!!!
in india this bike will be launched with 125 and a 200 cc engine , cant wait!!!!
theimacduderox 10 months ago
im a young (19) rider and wouldnt touch one of those. i love ktms but still its to much. its too much money for to little power. most young riders are getin old like 600 ninjas and getin them restricted. the 125 market is dieing. a majorit of the time they are bout by underage rider to be used off rode. at the moment im ridin a 1985 bmw r100 ex police issue. its perfect for round london and perfect on country rounds. also it cheap as. restiction is the way (cause u can take it out lol)
27JoeCowan 10 months ago
thats so stupid that we will never see anything under 250cc here in the US, come on people show us Yanks some love
jwink09 10 months ago
@jwink09 Screw the 125's...give us more 250-500cc bikes.
heartlesspinto 10 months ago
@jwink09
There's a reason for that man... US roads aren't suited for these small bore bikes. Think about trying to dodge 400hp V8 SUV's with only 125cc.

£3,695 for a 125cc
Although its a lovely Bike Young Men around 16 - 21 will buy this not many want to spend so much becuse although it looks Great its still only a 125cc.
If I was to Buy a 125 id spend my money on a CBR125cc or something much more sylish and cheaper if you shop around :)
RichysBikeWorld 10 months ago
To me if your gonna spend that much on a 125 you could only get one bike, the aprilia rs, You can limit it before you pass your full license then afterwards you have around 30bhp which is great for the 2 year 33bhp limit
NoFukinNamesLeft 10 months ago
well it was a pretty good vid but the name says *first ride* not *first look*... there was no riding involved! got all excited for nothin :(
dmccfc1992 10 months ago
What a fucking rip off, how do they expect a young noob rider to afford this bike?! A friend of mine has one and regrets purchasing for the price. Most young riders will always go for the cheaper option of a used 2 stroke bike, because of the sound, power and street cred ;). They are asking near 4 grand for this!? Why would a new rider go for this as apose to a Yammy DT for example, which you can pick up for a grand? wow, what a total RIP OFF.
Sonaris100 10 months ago
@Sonaris100 yea i would never, ever, ever recommend someone to spend over £1,500 on a first bike. I think it's the monthly payment schemes that catch them, yoofs today love owt like phone contracts, they only think about now, not releasing they're spending £4K on a bike they'll either drop or get nicked from them.
Crana 10 months ago
Feel sorry for that guy having to ride a 125 for a year... if it were a 2 stroker, it'd be fine but I guess he'll use it for work and back.
Crana 10 months ago
@Crana Lmao as if, hey C..yeah man i just stressed my opinion on this lark aswell, don't really see why somebody would buy this K ost T o M uch lump.
Sonaris100 10 months ago
@Sonaris100 they saw yamaha were doing good with their yzf 125 so they decided to copy, simple as! 125's are there to get you through your test and nothing more. If you need a 125 commuter bike buy a CG or something for a few hundred quid. I respect Honda CG's way more than YZF's, they're just trying to fool people into thinking its a 600 even though a bus out accelerates it :P 2-smokers are the future though, got a DT 125 as my learner bike and loved every second of it.
Crana 10 months ago
Whoever that was doing the narrating/review NEEDS to be on there more often. He has a natural look when he speaks, along with great inflection and intonation.
Bike Question: Why wouldn't this bike have dual disc front brakes? Or would it not even be needed since it's only a 125?
PLEASE make this in a 600 :)

59FIFTYMAX 10 months ago 2
@59FIFTYMAX I have just got on a old (1990) Italian NSR125 and i bet it runs circles around this crap :)
I really don't see the point in these 4 stroke 125s. I'm slightly looking forward to the motogp dropping two stroke 125s and moving to 250s. hopefully it brings more 250s into the market place and maybe the laws will change about what you can ride when you are 17. A 125cc two stroke can put out about the same power as a 250 4 stroke so why can't i ride one on a cbt? :)
eFzjcb121 10 months ago
@eFzjcb121 Exactly dude. i have a KTM 07 exc 125 supermoto'd cost me 2000 and is way better than this heap of 4 stroke rubbish. 2 strokes are cheaper, lighter and produce more power so i dont understand why they do not use them for all 125cc's.
If what your saying about the 250s is true. oh man i cannot wait. Hopefully they re produce the Aprilia Rs 250 2 stroke. Now that thing fly's but they are hard to get hold of these days. I have a video of my KTM if you'd like the link, i made it private.
