    annoying dog :D

  • "The last thing I want to talk about is.."

    **video ends**

  • Great video! Thanks

  • This might be a dumbass question but is it true that you need big hands to play bass? I have relatively small hands and I've been playing for about two years and I've had to build alot of hand, tendon and finger strength over time but I still feel like I'm slacking because my hands are too small.

  • Thanks Joe, Don't know if u still read this, but u have helped me alot, in just a cpl video's..im getting better

    Thanks

    Spence

  • Thanks buddy! I'm switching over from drums to bass...so this is a good fundamental vid to keep it "real" for me, I subscribed!

  • i like the video...but i think the dog like your bass sound

  • Comment removed

  • you look like kyle from tenacius D :D:D:D:D:D:D

  • Would using a stress ball help with finger strength and speed?

  • Good fingerstyle lesson. Beginners can also try to keep each finger down on the fretboard as they put the next finger down while going up the neck to the body of the guitar.

  • does 2 months of rock band expert count as practice?

  • Thanks for the lesson. U look just like KG from tenacious d btw.

  • I was wondering. Many sugest the 1 finger per fret technique. Whats your oppinion on this.

Im trying to teach myself but there are so mant people in the internet showin different stuff for the begining

  • Literally just starting out, thank you for this stuff my friend, patiently explained, looking forward to more, well done!

  • .....KG?

  • hey i just got an ibanez gsr 190. is that a good starter bass?and i love your vids they are very helpful

  • hey man, i really like these lessons. When are some more going to be up?

  • iI love my Ibenaz ... gsr 200 can do any form i want blues, rock, funk ...bassman100 works well

  • Great teaching style, keep them coming

  • you got cats there man!!

  • lol, hopefully your by yourself when you do this.

  • This guy seems friendly, but he monologues for too long in the beginning.

  • im grade 7 bass but dont really practice much. i need a lot of tunes with some cool runs because i feel my solos are getting exhausted can anyone suggest anything?

  • Im new to learning to play bass. aman from my church is givin me his bass.all i need is an amp. do you know where we could find a fairly cheap amp? and another thing. he told me to look up finger exercises to prep me for playin the bass. so where can i find finger exercises that train your fingers, without actually having the bass yet

  • If this is red Ibanez, then I have the same one!

  • what if your pinky doesn't reach the string??

  • you are an incredible teacher! so easy to follow! bravo!!!

  • You explain the instrument in a way I can understand, hope to see more in the future.

  • also i play guitar and bass, if i want to be like flea, should i leave guitar out a bit more?

  • looks like kg from tenacious d, no offence pal, thats a good thing

  • umm it stopped when u said "as you play" so... what is it? o.o

  • KYLE GASS!!!!

  • dont talk about my hands like that... lol

  • This is almost exactly like a exercise I did when I was first learning guitar. Now it is like starting over again, because I am getting ready to learn bass. I'm really excited, because the bass means the world to me. :)

  • is that a warwick rockbass streamer standard????looks prety good , i almost bought one of those

  • that helped me alot... i can feel the improvement after a few minutes. Thanks!

  • great video! would you recommend buying a varigrip or gripmaster?

  • Thank Santa Clause for Jocat!

  • Dean basses man! hell yeah.

  • @zackvid1

    UK2K!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • i like the way you sidad pinky at 1:04 ... idont know why

  • thanks, i like your hair.... ;)

  • @aNimeRan I have none?.or very little anyway.

  • I have trouble with my pinky

  • my pinky is a piece of shit too.

  • nice!

    great!

  • thanks you teach good man

  • good tutorial! thanks :)

  • Good video, Ive only been playing for 2 months and i have been asked to be in band is this a good idea or should i give this miss is there anything i do that will help me thanks.

  • chances in life are few, so dont waste them, please get in the band, the worst that can happend is you learning something.

  • I started with a Washburn T-12

it's a long bass but it's easy to play on

  • 2 suggestions;

    1. Dont go too expensive or too cheap.

Ibanez has some great starter bass for around $200.00. If you go cheaper, you might regret it unless you find a good used deal. 2Get somethin that is playable. You will get discouraged if you get something that is too hard to play, or is not correct and wont stay in tune.Shop smart and get advice. Find one that feels right to you. Afterall, it will be something you have to live with for a while. Make sure its the right something!

  • @jocat2008 nice guitar u have there o.o

  • @jocat2008 ESP's LTD series has some good starters too, a little expensive but you get what you pay for when it comes to guitars.

  • Cheers for the tips :) I want to start learning bass asap but I don't know what the best model is to start with. Do you have any advice?

  • dude for ur first one just go get a 200$ set w a small amp... dont need anything special when ur learning,

  • Thank you very much for this video, it's very useful. I'll be starting my bass lessons when school starts, but I don't have enough money to buy one yet, and I don't think I'll be able to save enough until then. But I already have an acoustic guitar, a western, and I was wondering if there's any problem if I don't have a bass at the beginning. I mean, I'll be starting from zero. But hell, the point is... can I exercise with my acoustic guitar for the beginning? Or do I desperately need a bass?

  • I learned 72 guitar chord finger positions on an old guitar neck that wasnt even connected to a body. Use the top 4 strings of the guitar to teach yourself and when you finally get a bass....your gonna be ready!

  • Thank you very much. I do feel kinda relieved right now (^__^)

  • @khymerra in soviet union bass exercise you....

  • @khymerra cool dude we have the same problem! For now im just practicing on my acoustic guitar some exercises and basslines and when we jam on a music studio i can play bass nicely even though i dont have one

  • Thnx I play guitar but your videos really helped you should be in a band lol

  • gr8 vid

  • Thanks man!

What kind of bass is that?

  • thats an old dean edge 3 that my wife uses. Not my regular bass, but in arms reach at the time of the video.;)

  • i like the video ive learn a lot but i practice at a guitar im not able to buy a true bass lack of money but the again thank you.... ^_^

  • thanks for these videos. i just bought my bass this weekend and im looking around for some lessons and these are really helping. I was wondering if your gonna upload anymore though cause that would be cool

  • cheers man just got my bass helped alot

  • you are good at gettin your ideas across. It's just a shame that your playing isnt great. Don't mean that in a spiteful way, I just mean that if you polish up yr own playing you could be really popular. I'm not saying you cant play, but your playin sounds sort of like mine did after less than a year of playing.

I know you'll disagree, but hey - that's my opinion and I have been playing guitar and bass guitar for 14 years now.

Saying that,I do think it was a good lesson for beginner players.

  • you are really good in explaining stuff, so far this is the best video for beginners, I myself was thinking to start playing on bass ..but i just dont know where to start or what to do...this vid of yours is explaining things so clearly and well...rly rly enjoyed while watching it.

  • your bass look like the same one i have a sound gear was wonder are you going to make any vds of countrty walking bass....

  • does this remind anyone else of buffalo bill from silence of the lambs...

  • James Jamerson who played on most of the old motown recordings used one finger

  • hey i just bought a bass today and i havent even had a lesson and after watching this i feel like im awesome lol its actually accuracy that matters the most the man is right

  • yer the new victor

  • Alot of times beginners need encouragement and a scence of accomplishment to feed their desire to want to learn more. This eazy peezy lesson was designed just for that.We will worry about "proper technique" when we have determined that we want play. Hundreds of private students later and thousands of youtubies, my method has not only worked, but I now have about 10,000 new beginners from this lesson who are doing just fine....and now most of em know the old" one, two" by the way. Thanks

  • I do not want to be impolite, so don't take this as an impoliteness...I studied several years with a musician, music is his job so he knows a lot of things in every field.he teached me to play with two fingers from the very beginning because the reasons I already told. Since yours is a method for beginner you have to think thah maybe you are creating some problems in beginner's future...I mean removing mistakes and imperfections..but mine was just an advice..I don't want to be intrusive.

  • some people play differently man, theres no EXACT way to play man, for me i play with a pick, just because i prefer, not cause i cant play with my fingers.

  • seemed to me that you were teaching the "one finger picking"...pick with one finger is the wrongest thing you could do, teach or wathever..it's the most common mistake that beginner bass players "acknowledge" and removing it is very very hard trust me...basic finger picking must be 2 fingers and ALWAYS alternate..one two one two and so on....I know that beginners is very boring stuff but a good bass player comes from that stuff

  • I must say that lesson really does help me I look forward to trying your lesson and hopefully learn bass.

  • can I have your email! I want talk to you! I am from new zealand, I am interesting of buy DVD from you with Bass stuff

  • ...

  • ...

  • Just learning. It was a very helpful exercise I could actually understand well. :)

  • Thanks alot man, Now I can stop pretending I can play the bass, and actually play it :D

  • thanks for this

its helping me develop my pinky

ive been playing for about 10 monthes but ive neglected my pinky, and this has helped me alot!

  • I find it very usefull for a beginner (as I am)..thx a lot!!

  • thanks ! I really appreciate it. I'm currently working on several more lessons to put up including some dobro and guitar lessons, so stay tuned! I have more bass lesson stuff coming as well.

  • your welcome, I look forward to it!

  • This is awesome thanks fro taking the time to put these up there!!!!!! helps a lot!!
