Sherman's March likely saved many more lives than it took by helping enact a faster end to the war. Much how the nuclear bombs brought an end to WWII. But, that's the rub, war sometimes requires the loss of life in order to save life. War is often necessary; many times it's not. Things like this serve to remind of the horrors of war so that we may not endeavor upon it lightly.

Those wars people died more often then they lived now look at the number of wounded in Iraq 29,978 and the number of Iraqi who are dead 92,971 Iraqi civilians. I think a more balanced view is needed. Is the war in Iraq simply a result of an oil conspiracy of some powerful individuals, or is it a righteous crusade to bring freedom to the opressed. I would say neither. Remember that only Congress, not Bush, has the power to go to war, and Congress is 500 people. It is likely that there many reasons, some good, and some not so good, as to why we are in Iraq. But if we can achieve a stable deomcracy in Iraq, it would be a fantastic humanistic achievement.
I'm still amazed that people confuse supporting the troops with supporting the war. I know of no way to support the troops better than to see them home safely, whatever we each think needs to be done for that to happen.

If you don't know any active duty personnel check with any church or synagogue.
In fact a google search of "helping the troops" will yield more ideas and will take less time than it takes to watch this video.
I have done many, many, things to help the service men and women in Iraq and still do. I have never been to a protest rally. The facts are Bush lied to get us into this war, he does not care about our men and women in the arm forces nor the ones coming home wounded from this war of choice. I feel wonderful about myself and my family who have served in the arm forces for generations. Caring for the troops, and believing in them I do this each day. I do not believe in this war or Bush.

That's a very good question. I can only make guesses. 1. The quest for the Almighty Dollar by the recording industry. So if they were written we'd never hear them because they would never get promoted. 2. Apathy; too many people are tied up in their own affairs, and some don't seem to even give a damn. Apathy like that is, in my opinion, a dangerous thing.

All this US patriotism shit and anti-patriotism below pisses me off. Sure it's nice to have a chance to live a fulfilling life, but come one. Shit happens all the time you have absolutely no idea how long you're going to live, it's unpredictable. Sort of like how doctors "save lives" they prolong lives, not save them. Some people just need to realize what the world is about and how it works. I'm 15, regular church, I accept that shit happens and anything can cease to exist in a heartbeat.

These numbers of dead may be correct for WWII and for The Civil War but the Iraq number is wrong, we have lost 4103 in Iraq. Those wars people died more often then they lived now look at the number of wounded in Iraq 29,978 and the number of Iraqi who are dead 92,971 Iraqi civilians. This war was based on a pile of lies WWII and The Civil war were wars fought for truth. Each of these people had loved ones each had homes,jobs,lives. They were worth more then a number. Obama 08!

I think a more balanced view is needed. Is the war in Iraq simply a result of an oil conspiracy of some powerful individuals, or is it a righteous crusade to bring freedom to the opressed. I would say neither. Remember that only Congress, not Bush, has the power to go to war, and Congress is 500 people. It is likely that there many reasons, some good, and some not so good, as to why we are in Iraq. But if we can achieve a stable deomcracy in Iraq, it would be a fantastic humanistic achievement.

I'm still amazed that people confuse supporting the troops with supporting the war. I know of no way to support the troops better than to see them home safely, whatever we each think needs to be done for that to happen.

I hold our American soldiers in the highest regard. I think HIGHLY ENOUGH of the soldiers that I think they deserve better than to die for poor international policy, lack of negotiating skills and hotheaded ego.
Bush knowingly got our great country into a war for no good reason. 9/11 had nothing to do with Iraq.
This isn't some Right-wing / Left-wing thing... it's time for Americans to stand up for what's right and use some common sense!

He doesn't care if any of them live broken lives after his war, he won't even fund to take care of them after they have done their jobs and come home broken. Offer to baby-sit so the spouse of the active duty soldier can have a few hours to themselves,
Organize a picnic for the children of some service men and women
Invite a family for dinner
Mow their lawn

Help paint their house (imagine if all of the protestors at any rally actually took a paint brush in hand and did more than whine how much could be done)
Send a care package (cigars, spam, individual cans of beer, or shots of any liqueur, beef jerky and presweetened "kool-aid" packets are the best things to pack, but be creative in how you label the contents for shipping)

Send a letter to an active duty soldier (you can start it off with : "I oppose the war but wish you well") (You might even ask the soldier for their view on the war. It is getting the letter that is most important and is a whole lot more productive than writing here).
If you don't know any active duty personnel check with any church or synagogue.
In fact a google search of "helping the troops" will yield more ideas and will take less time than it takes to watch this video.

I have done many, many, things to help the service men and women in Iraq and still do. I have never been to a protest rally. The facts are Bush lied to get us into this war, he does not care about our men and women in the arm forces nor the ones coming home wounded from this war of choice. I feel wonderful about myself and my family who have served in the arm forces for generations. Caring for the troops, and believing in them I do this each day. I do not believe in this war or Bush.

Many of them who did go had little choice with jobs going overseas and a tanked economy. Most did not expect stop loss programs and back door drafts. Nor did they expect to have to do 4 tours, for Bush's government, to not take care of them and their families when the worst happened. All are brave and deserve our respect, our care when they come home and for us to take care of their families if they don't return. Bush vetoed so many of the bills that would take care of them and their families.

They asked for a raise to help keep their wives and child off welfare and he denied it. They ask to go home when their time was dune and he puts a stop loss on them.
