That's the best reason NOT TO PILE THINGS next to your house or buildings. They live in the pile & commute to work inside your house or shop! I know it looks neater to pile it up next to a building. Well don't be neat. At least 100 feet away!
As a kid in South Africa I learnt the hard way that you should always lift the timber towards yourself so that the plank is between you and what ever may be under it ready to strike at you.
I'm doing a report now on what I found under some old lumber in the yard: A dead rat being eaten by a shitload of ants, centipedes, pill bugs, earwigs, black widow spiders and earthworms. Pretty fuckin gnarly. I wish there was a nature show with a host like you who drops a 'fuckin' in every other word. I would watch that shit.
that would suck! to bad there poisonous. :( we have have a bull frog problem here. not poisonous and kind of tasty. they eat everything and cause tremendous problems for many native species to the area. i have to exterminate three invasive species at our four acre bass pond every year; bull frogs, muskrats, and nutria. the muskrats and nutria make tunnels under the waters surface that lead out to the field behind the pond that can drain it. the bullfrogs eat the bass hatch lings.
I once had to replace 3/4 of an entire roof structure on a 200+ yr old house due to carpenter ants. They got to the roof by tree, it was amazing the amount of damage caused, and that the roof hadn't collapsed...
Lick it - I dare you! We have redbacks under our logs oh & mushrooms - much the same effect eating the mushies as there is licking the toads, or so I have been told.
@AuntieDiluvian i was thinking they could breed them so their poison was harmless then introduce them into the population to breed with the other toads
I grew up in South Florida and when I was a kid we would go out with five gallon buckets and catch dozens of cane toads in a single night. There was a big reptile and amphibian store that would buy them for thirty cents a piece.
My cousin also use to like playing "frog ball" which involved taking a wiffle bat and bashing the toads until their guts came out of their mouths. It grossed me out but at the same time those toads are a menace in Florida just like in Australia.
and he'll probably be dead because cane toads are toxic to most animals. that's why they're such a big problem for the eco system (and because their reproduction rate)
@nedbeaty72 That is the trouble with those old fashioned ideas of trying to get rid of one pest with something else which ends up being worse. Years ago some idiot in England thought it a good idea to release 2 American grey squirrels into the wild (not native to Britain) the red squirrel is now endangered.
Cool! You can hear the ants in the recording (I think) :)
Whenever I'm outdoors on a hiking path or in the forest I can't resist peeking under rocks and logs. It's a habit I started as a child and just never stopped. I pretty much only find ants, worms, and slugs. But now and then something cool, like a salamander or snake!
@MrStripyHead at least the weren't jack jumpers, saw a thing on tv about them, mean ass ants, will kill each other if they are angry enough. attack people for making vibrations, fuck ants, fuck everything about them. i used to think i had some nasty fire ants in my yard but i found out there is way worse out there.
Serious question 1GREG1JESUS... I live in Byron Bay and we get cane toads as well, all around the house pushing out the beautiful natives like Green Tree Frogs. Sure the cane-toad golf is funny.. but I'm not a psycho I just want to clean up my patch. Can you do a video on ways to kill toads? I heard freezing them is good? can they be drowned? quickly decapitated or something efficient and easy to do each night when they are on the march? Let me know fella!
@erfmufn yeah, i will make a vid about it at some stage, they are a pain in the arse and eat green tree frogs, my dad uses undiluted detol and sprays it on their backs.
@MrStripyHead Really? That sounds extremely cheap and efficient .. perfect, thanks mate. I remember flipping logs on stadbroke island too they were all over the joint. Little bastards.
Tasmania is where my nephew's half sister lives. He's supposed to go visit her next year. I'll probably be tagging along... if it's cold there then I am fucked LOL.
I love your Reckless abandon, "I really dont give a fuck":) ya Fuck the gloves! Speaking of fuckn gloves, I get about 5 good wacks per (1 per Falange; So l figure its better waist managment then using a sock since I get 1 go and 10min later if I turn it inside out I get another go for the 5 knuckle shuffle but that still is a big waise of water Vs.
