SW's car that went 246mph in the mile and 7.91 in the 1/4 also ran an OEM unmodified 6spd Getrag and OEM Rear with TRD/Toyota diff's... the only guys that seem to break the rears are the guys that converted to a Glide or TH400, but they launch HARD.

There are a lot of V8s that can't do that.
The Toyota Supra broke the record for the standing mile against cars with bigger displacement that were modded. Other competitors in this were the Lingenfelter Corvette, the Hennessy Viper TT Ford GT and the UGR TT Gallardo. None of those cars beat the Supra's record even though many people talk so highly about them. The fact that this car did all of this on a 6 cylinder motor with only 3 liters of displacement is an accomplishment in itself. That is what is impressive.
Again. Any car can be incredible with the rights mods. This is just a fact. Here, w/ this Supra, it's about the tuner, not the car. Somebody w/ the right ideas can go really fast. Another thing to note is that is that you need a good base to build a car capable of doing those speeds for an extended period of time. Try running a Top Fuel Car in the standing mile. Yes the 2JZ-GTE is really one of the best engine ever made and also the best inline 6 in my opinion. It's my favorite engine and also the Supra is my favorite car. Tons of torque, high end power, smooth power delivery, easy to tune, reliable, solid, well balanced and the best sounding IMO. Plus the car is beautifull, heavy yes but it helps with traction, beautifull cockpit, the dash is all around you, superb transmission (manual) and so much more...

All the manual tranny supra's run OEM Gearsets and Rears they rarely break this has been a fact since this car was originally sold almost 20yrs ago. SW's car that went 246mph in the mile and 7.91 in the 1/4 also ran an OEM unmodified 6spd Getrag and OEM Rear with TRD/Toyota diff's... the only guys that seem to break the rears are the guys that converted to a Glide or TH400, but they launch HARD.

These cars have enormous corporate sponsors that spend millions trying to get them near what a Supra can run stock. Supras are UL7RA L337! Its not the ultimate in car technology but a lot of technologies that it had were ahead of it time. I do research on my cars strengths weaknesses and limitations and If you talk to most people who own a certain type of car they can tell you a million things about their platform.

Drag racing is more difficult then the standing mile? It would be a lot more work to get a car to do 250 in 1 mile then a car to do 300+ in the 1/4. Aerodynamics, gearing and weight (you actually need a decent weight) all are put into factor. You try to act like you know it all but you don't so STFU and sit down.

1. This car was designed in 1990 and released in 1993.
2. It is special for the same reason an F-body is special (potential)
3. If it isn't a special why is the resale vale on one so good? (and don't blame it solely on the Fast and the Furious movies because they had FD RX-7s in that movie and they have a much lower resale value)

@0HippyHunter0 Its not the stock car that is spectacular, the potential for a motor of its size. In 1993 those numbers were pretty damn good anyway. Stock it may not be spectacular but with the right set of mods it shows what it can do. My Supra made 787whp and 674 ft lbs of torque by just upgrading the turbo, fuel system, engine management system and clutch. Not even lifting the valve cover once. There are a lot of V8s that can't do that.

The Toyota Supra broke the record for the standing mile against cars with bigger displacement that were modded. Other competitors in this were the Lingenfelter Corvette, the Hennessy Viper TT Ford GT and the UGR TT Gallardo. None of those cars beat the Supra's record even though many people talk so highly about them. The fact that this car did all of this on a 6 cylinder motor with only 3 liters of displacement is an accomplishment in itself. That is what is impressive.

Again. Any car can be incredible with the rights mods. This is just a fact. Here, w/ this Supra, it's about the tuner, not the car. Somebody w/ the right ideas can go really fast. I sincerely don't think we'll be seeing the 3.0L take over as the engine of choice in funny cars or top fuels(and they don't need a mile to hit 300mph). On top of that look at the 220+ cars out there. Anyone w/ money can get a car over 220.

This car does 246.2 in the standing mile. No other car has broke this record in the standing mile. The lingenfelter corvette, the TT Ford GT, all of the TT Vipers and TT Gallardos didn't even come close. Doing 300+ mph in the 1/4 puts less stress on an engine and transmission than doing 300+ in the 1/4 mile that is a fact. And another thing to note is that the cars that participate are all using True manual transmissions. This car is not trying to be a top fuel car, its a standing mile car.

Dude the Supra ran with the domestic big boys. Only 1 actually had a set up that was worth a shit. The Vipers have struggled to make it to 240 in the mile nonetheless break 230. Another thing to note is that is that you need a good base to build a car capable of doing those speeds for an extended period of time. Try running a Top Fuel Car in the standing mile. It will blow the fuck up. Most of them barely can sustain that much force in a single 1/4 mile run. If they were to run at the standing mile the motor would fail if the frame doesn't fall apart first or the tires excessively smoke from putting too much power down. Apples to Oranges my friend.

CORRECTION: The Ford GT is a Super Car, the Supra is a Sports Car. If you look at the video of the builders talking about that Ford GT they said the total investment in the project was 3/4 of a million dollars. Thats fucking expensive.

Yes the 2JZ-GTE is really one of the best engine ever made and also the best inline 6 in my opinion. It's my favorite engine and also the Supra is my favorite car. Tons of torque, high end power, smooth power delivery, easy to tune, reliable, solid, well balanced and the best sounding IMO. Plus the car is beautifull, heavy yes but it helps with traction, beautifull cockpit, the dash is all around you, superb transmission (manual) and so much more...

Gears aren't that long. It's just that it can rev a lot. Like 3000RPM more than stock.
