@blueeyesseto You still need a heat source to ignite beyond simple compression- After the lighter is removed it is the explosion that will keep the coils lit for future ignition. If it was solely compression then you could restart the engine without the lighter if it is still warm/ hot but that is not the case.
as teh piston goes up and down.....as i jack off the screw driver....thats waht i heard!
gread series man, im trying to get into nitro RC....all my electics...they dont make batterys anymore, and this one car shorted out all my baterys....and nitro fits me better. love engines and working on them!!!

Hi, I have just bought my first ever nitro car ( hyper 7 TQsport) and I don't know what to do in the terms of starting it up and what to do when you start it up? Help please!!
Hey Squirrel,,, I Have just started breaking in my buggy (1st Tank and i am also new to nitro) and exactly when i reach half tank the car just keeps stalling (stalled 8 times in 10 mins) and when i try to start it either won't start or takes 10-20 mins to start..If I Leave breaking in til tomorrow will the engine be right to keep breaking in without shortinng the life of it Please help me..
I bought a temp gauge today. My engine got to 146 degrees. I asked in the store how warm the engine shall be maximum and he said 120 degrees maximum. Seen on other pages when I google how warm the engine shall be and they say 95-110 degrees is the best. And you say 200 degrees is what it shall be?
how do you manage to keep your nitro rc's so damn clean..my ofna ravager is starting to build up rust on some spots, and i try so hard every time i use it to clean it thoroughly
good vid! i have a question...i am thinking about getting a rc nitro buggy and when i get the nitro fuel do i have to mix it with oil? (i dont think i do but was just wondering to be safe) pls let me know

Hey , i just bought a ready to run nitro race buggy and being new to nitro i am unsure if you need to break in a motor with ready to run models. I bought it off ebay brand new and i was told i won't need to itbreak in, yet the instructions says i do????
Hi, I just started to break in a new nitro buggy for my son , first tank off fuel ,car on blocks and seem to run well but noticed excess fuel comming out exhaust is this normal when breaking in ?.( Instructions says not to adjust settings until after break in)
@TAZZYBOYBOY It means that your fuel/ air mixture is rich. You have too much fuel going into your engine. You can lean the HSN to solve.
Before you tocuh, watch my tuning video series. I have some of the favorited on my channel and the rest can be viewed from there. It goes over stock needle settings and you want to do that project before you touch the needles. It also shows you what is too rich, lean, and perfect in terms of visual and audio signals,

Hi mate! I got a lrp .30 engine in a savage. I had a glow plug (os nos8 ) in it and it kept blowing them. I tried a traxxas glow plug and it kept bogging down ( no power at all and lots of detonations, no matter how I tuned it it was not performing at all) I put another glow plug in it I had lying around and it was running perfect then fuel run out and it had blown that glow plug aswell. I ordered some lrp r5 glow plugs as these are manufacture recommended. My question is this, why would it kee
i have a 15. engine i use 16% fuel and hot glow plug i can barely ever able to start it and when i do start it, it completly shuts off or when i give it throttle and it stalls out and wont start so please reply if you have an answer because im a beginner and i dont know anything about these little engines from hell so please help PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!
do you run pro line tires or ur car.....ive been looking for a knobby set like the ones o ur car to get some decent traction on dirt and grass longish because at my house u bash around and i run proline crime fighters and they r ok on ahphalt and dirt but i never get much grip on wet or dry grass could u reccomend a tire and where i could buy it from would be very helpful :)
hey squirrel my nitro is synthetic / racing oil, castor blend...does this mean that my nitro are mixed with synthetic and castor oil??please reply back......
@Squirrelod always use tools aht didnt come with ur c, when i got my starter pack with my savage (the 4.6) the phileps head iuts a little to small, and the big wrence wont undo teh wheel nuts cuz its to small :/
hey man this is kinda off topic but what is a goodcheap racing buggy to buy, i want to race but i dont have thousands of dollars... so what is the best cheap one, i was looking at the himoto you got but idk.
@bobcheese427 Its conforming the piston to the sleeve to develop a custom fit. It is a break in done that is not too hot to warp the cylinder or too cold.
I've been using 20% fuel in my .21 and .18 engines, but i've been abit cautious of using it in my .12 (baby of the group xD) and insted have been opting for 10%.
Do you recon that it will be ok to use the 20% insted of the 10% ? (i've been cautious beacouse it's a baby engine and I don't wanna push it to hard :P)
Im not sure why you are mixing a HPI product with a Traxxas product that the person was asking about. If you search Traxxas then you will find that the 2.5 is a .18 and the 3.3 is a .20. Furthermore, a big block engine is .21 and above.
HPI can spin whatever they want on their productline. Most companies confuse numbers as bigger sounds better. Then there are skewed dyno tests as well.
Im not wrong, my information can be verified on Traxxas.
hi im having problems with my new mta4 s 50 , it seems the engine needs tuning, the moment i remove the glow starter the engine stalls, also it does not stay running/on for more that 10 seconds
im gettin a car for my birthday nad i got recomended to run 3 tanks without driving so my question is how long does a car tak to run out of fuel on tickover?
@djbexfield nooooo. leaning means more air less fuel. and less lubercation. witch causes more heat. running rich more fuel less air causes more lubercation and more cooling. but less performace. sometimes u have unburnt fuel comeing out of the exhaust
u got some great vids and ur not even a pro joe u just know ur stuff which is good for idiots like me haha but u helped me break in my dads truck and both of myn my revo i just got and my old traxxas stampede
hey man can you please make a video on how to install a servo into a nitro r/c car? I just recently bought an XTM XT2 and he servo is really glitchy. Your videos helped me out a lot, making a video on this would be great, Thanks.
I have videos on how to install the steering and throttle servos, and aligning them, in the rc setup guide series. I have a playlist for them located on my profile.
basiucly in a nut cracker when the fuel reaches the glow pug when starting ti explodes then keeps the piston going and comes back up the glow plug doesnt stay ignited or else your burn it out failures would result ina stall
Hey squirrel one more question, what is your opinion on break in fuel like Trinity Monster Horsepower 20% Break-In Nitro Fuel? should i use that for breaking the engine in and then switch? id probably switch to trinity monster horsepower 25%.
awsome thanks for the quick reply!, just cuz the manual recomended 16 but would it be advisable to go higher? (im very new to this havent actualy built the car yet and know if it works xD) cant wait though
This video shows you what to look for in oil content.
I say the above as you need to look at the fuel bottle that you want to buy and analyze that bottle and what is in it. For me to say yes or no in general could mess you up as type of oil, oil mixture, and then content are variable from manufacturer to manufacturer. If you watch the video then it will show you what to look for.
ok i am scared lol i am buying the madfire .28 racing edition and i have never driven a nitro car before what should i use and hat should i do lol btw nice vid plzzzzz messege me back!!!!!
Brand name- not really. Its the oil content, oil type, and nitro content that matters. Some brands are preferred by some and will act better with your engine.
i just got my jato 3.3 and the piston was wayy to tight for the sleve so i sipped it all apart and now it turns over and all that.. but the glow plug light on the starters not lighting up.. so i orderd a few more but i was wondering if theres anythign you might think might be wrong with it.. the glow plug looks fine but im not really sure.. i dint even get to hear it idle yet lol and now i gotta wait 4 days to get my plugs so i can run it
It could be the connection of the blue wire. What I typically will do is snip the blue wire and throw it away. Then, get a glow lighter and use it to heat the glow plug while using the ez start.
hi i have a robitronics br50 with a .28 axial bog block and it boggs down when i go from 1/4 throttle to full throttle what do u think it could be ??? i have tried leanning it and richning it but it seems to do nothing i have also replaced the glow plug to a OS number 8 plug from a number 5 please reply oh and im running 20%nitro and 18%oil
The vid explains what to look for in fuel. You want to concern yourself with the oil type and quantity in your fuel and the video explains this. Rich, when used with RC engines, is typically a tuning term.
take your plug out and check if it ignites with glow starter leave on igniting for a couple of seconds once done leave out.
then prime the carb then get your after run oil or fuel or both and put a couple of drops in the engine as it will get a nice coating on the piston then ignite the glow plug in the plug igniter then put back in and then try and start that works with my acme conquistador or check my videos out if you want.
can you help, i got my ACME Condor PRO nitro car yesturday, this is my first nitro car and i cant get the engine to start, iv'e put the fuel in the tank and the fuel line has put fuel into the carb/engine when i pull the starter with the glowplug fully charged nothing happens. help!
Try leaning out the high speed needle a little (do small increments and find your stock settings first before you do this) or preheat the engine case with blowdryer. You can also use a hotter glow plug and remember that some engines will not come to life right away. They take a few tugs.
Yeah, ive accidently turned the lower needle too! the model shop said £30 minimum (UK) about $60 for them to tune it! im rather stuck because the manual doesnt tell me how to tune it :S can you recomend and guides wif pictures? Thanks a million :D! (Subscribed)
i'd try a medium plug. or just grab one and try it, if it doesnt work then go to other one.
if i remember correctly a cold plug will start easier but will run rougher once the temps get up. and a warm/hot plug will make it harder to start but will run good when the temps get hotter. if you get a hot plug you can warm it up with a blowdryer as squirrelod said.
Hey bigdog0909 i would reconedmend a .21 lrp but, i have had 1 before and i did pretty good with it. But i have only ben with rc for about 9 mnths and i took about 4 mthns off so. I would go wit what squirrel says but thats just me.
Its a good engine as well. Its why I encourage people to post their opinions as it is varied. Ultimately, it is up to the guy to pick and he should have a varied amount of responses.
do u have to use secial nitro fuel or can u use a oil-gas blend?

I have videos on how to install the steering and throttle servos, and aligning them, in the rc setup guide series. I have a playlist for them located on my profile.

where can one get engine oil for a nitro??
MRFord352 2 years ago
basiucly in a nut cracker when the fuel reaches the glow pug when starting ti explodes then keeps the piston going and comes back up the glow plug doesnt stay ignited or else your burn it out failures would result ina stall

Hey squirrel one more question, what is your opinion on break in fuel like Trinity Monster Horsepower 20% Break-In Nitro Fuel? should i use that for breaking the engine in and then switch? id probably switch to trinity monster horsepower 25%.
xlxshanexlx 2 years ago
Run it on regular fuel. You dont need special fuel for a break in =)

Alright thanks a lot :D

thelethalmoo 2 years ago
cold plug i think btw
thelethalmoo 2 years ago
Requirements are universal to all engines regardless of size for surface RC.
Squirrelod 2 years ago
awsome thanks for the quick reply!, just cuz the manual recomended 16 but would it be advisable to go higher? (im very new to this havent actualy built the car yet and know if it works xD) cant wait though
thelethalmoo 2 years ago
This video shows you what to look for in oil content.
I say the above as you need to look at the fuel bottle that you want to buy and analyze that bottle and what is in it. For me to say yes or no in general could mess you up as type of oil, oil mixture, and then content are variable from manufacturer to manufacturer. If you watch the video then it will show you what to look for.

i got one of these and it never worked i keep trying to start it but it doesnt start message me back!!!

ok i am scared lol i am buying the madfire .28 racing edition and i have never driven a nitro car before what should i use and hat should i do lol btw nice vid plzzzzz messege me back!!!!!

does it really matter what type of brand fuel you use?
ilovetyping 2 years ago
Brand name- not really. Its the oil content, oil type, and nitro content that matters. Some brands are preferred by some and will act better with your engine.

i just bought a new 1:8 hsp tornado .21 what % nitro should i use?
hoffman999 2 years ago
If you are not sure then start off at a mid point like a 25% and a medium glow plug.
Squirrelod 2 years ago
i just got my jato 3.3 and the piston was wayy to tight for the sleve so i sipped it all apart and now it turns over and all that.. but the glow plug light on the starters not lighting up.. so i orderd a few more but i was wondering if theres anythign you might think might be wrong with it.. the glow plug looks fine but im not really sure.. i dint even get to hear it idle yet lol and now i gotta wait 4 days to get my plugs so i can run it
sgtdoink 2 years ago
It could be the connection of the blue wire. What I typically will do is snip the blue wire and throw it away. Then, get a glow lighter and use it to heat the glow plug while using the ez start.

i just got my nitro rc a couple hours ago
EdYoutubr 2 years ago
good to see the author actually replying to the users.
im using a 25% nitro on a pro 28 bx-r, the model is an eb4 s3 racing ready buggy. is the fuel rich enough?.
EdYoutubr 2 years ago
The vid explains what to look for in fuel. You want to concern yourself with the oil type and quantity in your fuel and the video explains this. Rich, when used with RC engines, is typically a tuning term.
Squirrelod 2 years ago
ok thanks
EdYoutubr 2 years ago
hey quirrel could you advise on the xtm it's got the same engine as you use in this vid any help tuning where to get parts from etc.
cheers squirrelod

madzremix here is a little answer.
take your plug out and check if it ignites with glow starter leave on igniting for a couple of seconds once done leave out.
then prime the carb then get your after run oil or fuel or both and put a couple of drops in the engine as it will get a nice coating on the piston then ignite the glow plug in the plug igniter then put back in and then try and start that works with my acme conquistador or check my videos out if you want.

can you help, i got my ACME Condor PRO nitro car yesturday, this is my first nitro car and i cant get the engine to start, iv'e put the fuel in the tank and the fuel line has put fuel into the carb/engine when i pull the starter with the glowplug fully charged nothing happens. help!
engine doesnt start
Thanks,

Welcome to the hobby!
Try leaning out the high speed needle a little (do small increments and find your stock settings first before you do this) or preheat the engine case with blowdryer. You can also use a hotter glow plug and remember that some engines will not come to life right away. They take a few tugs.
Squirrelod 2 years ago
Yeah, ive accidently turned the lower needle too! the model shop said £30 minimum (UK) about $60 for them to tune it! im rather stuck because the manual doesnt tell me how to tune it :S can you recomend and guides wif pictures? Thanks a million :D! (Subscribed)

hi Squirrelod need some help on my engine
i have a axial .32 enigne
and i just wanted to double check if i need the cold glow plug for my engine
shariqminhas1 2 years ago
Per the video- glow plug temp is matched to fuel choice and conditions; not the engine.
Squirrelod 2 years ago
i'd try a medium plug. or just grab one and try it, if it doesnt work then go to other one.
if i remember correctly a cold plug will start easier but will run rougher once the temps get up. and a warm/hot plug will make it harder to start but will run good when the temps get hotter. if you get a hot plug you can warm it up with a blowdryer as squirrelod said.
acousticguitar355 2 years ago
can you change the plugs on the plug start
zack970 2 years ago
The glow plug? Yes
Squirrelod 2 years ago
Hey bigdog0909 i would reconedmend a .21 lrp but, i have had 1 before and i did pretty good with it. But i have only ben with rc for about 9 mnths and i took about 4 mthns off so. I would go wit what squirrel says but thats just me.
rcdrager 2 years ago
Its a good engine as well. Its why I encourage people to post their opinions as it is varied. Ultimately, it is up to the guy to pick and he should have a varied amount of responses.
Squirrelod 2 years ago
what rc nitro would bea good for me kinda hard on cars and no slow cars!!!!!!!!!
