  • @scottykilmer What does it mean if there is coolant by the oil filter on a 94 Toyota Camry (4 cyl). I checked the radiator fluid and it is full.

  • @googie109 probably something leaking from above, like a hose. Pressure test the system as I show in my video "how to fix an overheating car" to find where the leak is

  • @scottykilmer LMAO your wife told you Good Things Come In Small Packages? I assume she is saying you have a very small package but she thinks its good huh? ahahahah aw man! ahehehe

  • @XConYoungBlood No, my wife is five feet tall.

  • @scottykilmer LMAO ahaha ah man Thanks for that Laugh scotty. Thanks for having a sence of humor. People are so touchy nowadays and they forget to laugh. Im glad I ran into your page. This is the only place I can get knowledge about my car and some good laughs too. Thanks scotty, and oh, YOU LIKES THEM SHORT WOMENS HUH? lol

  • @scottykilmer hey scotty, I tried Steel Seal and I got even more bubbles coming up in my overflow tank. Its like a Lawrence Welk bubble machine in my engine. WHAT SHALL I DO SCOTTY? CMON NAW.

  • @googie109 check the head gasket for small leaks.

  • half the gaskets in both my cars use a Similer product (I use an ATV high temp red silicone for the cooler area's and a product called "Gasket Goo" for the hotter area's) both are fantastic products evan did the head gasket using the ATV high temp gasket got 100,000km out of it before I sold that car not bad for half a days work an a $9 tube of red goo

  • you're like bill nye but for autos. you've saved me multiple, multiple times. thanks for posting these!

  • scotty my collant reservoir is leakinggg ( by the cap ) how can i seal it pleaseeeeeeeeeeee i have a old BMW 1994 325 is

  • @GerardHutchz use some JB weld Kwik to fix it after emptying it out

  • @scottykilmer thanks ill try today

  • @scottykilmer my car is ... leaking antifreeze thru the little hose on the reservoir

  • thats good sealer but a pain to clean off

  • gaaassskkkeetss!!!

  • @inc2000glw this is often better than gaskets on old cars that have metal permeated with small pits. Scotty

  • Say hello to my little friend!

  • Why is everyone hating on your videos? You give great advice from your experience and you provide a cheaper alternative that fixes things right. People need to stop hating.

  • @undertake782 Jealousy breeds hate. A shame. Scotty

  • I wouldn't say this works better than any other gasket maker as they all require time to dry. If Ten minutes is to long for you to wait then I would suggest not doing the work yourself. Good information though, I like it.

  • @Devolont ah, you've never used it then. I've been fixing cars for 43 years and nothing I've found works like this. Squirt it on, bolt it on instantly, and when you start up the engine, no leaks. Granted it is expensive, but man, it works best, and I've tried every one out there. Scotty

  • Get a soggy paper towel and wipe the water away dry, I bet you can fix the exhaust with that Scotty. I have faith in you.

  • i think im in love with you hahaha youre the answer to my prayers :)

  • SCOTTYKILMER....YOU'RE OK. THANKS FOR THE ADVICE. YOUR EFFORTS RELIEVE MY STRESS, AMIGO...KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK!

  • i have a 01 volvo s80 radiator leaking any help would be appreciated

  • @MrIwantabuck Just replace the radiator, you can try sealers, but radators are plastic these days and will just keep cracking and leaking. They make new radiators in china now, and they are very low priced. Scotty

  • @MrIwantabuck if your broke a quick fix is a raw egg or pepper but ether way i would not recommend it cause possiably could do something mysterious that you dont want

  • What can I use to seal leaks in my AC aircompressor. The front of the compressor is not turning when the ac is on. What can I do next Scotty? Thanks Man love your videos. In fact, I used your video about stalling or problem idling engines. I cleaned the intake manifold just like you said. But it was the clogged airfilter that really was the problem. I never would have found it without your video...

  • @curtbeginner there are Ac seal leak kits, but they really don't work very well at all. It's best to just replace the compressor if it's leaking. Scotty

  • @curtbeginner I would have a garage inject a UV die into your ac system that way they can determine where the leak is. The AC compressor not turning means there is no refrigerant in the cooling system. The AC compressor is more than likely working just fine, it is designed to not run when there is not enough refrigerant to keep the compressor from burning up.

  • It sounds like can be used for your sandwiches..

Did you know they sell big RTV tube to be used with a caulking gun..

  • @Raven60618 Yes, this video is old. I now use the calk gun ones now.Scotty

  • Comment removed

  • where can i get steel seal from?

  • That stuff looks like it works very well but you,v got the right stuff Mr Kilmer i can always count on you to give honest straight forward advice on any mechanical fix .

  • im sorry your wife told you that ''great things come in small packages'' haha

  • @ralfy578230 You didn't read the previous posts. My wife is barely five feet tall, she was referring to herself when she said small packages (with a big punch.) Scotty

  • will this also work for engines that use Gm Dex-cool scotty?

  • @stalkervision Yes, as long as the coolant is clean. Scotty

  • @scottykilmer thanks a lot scotty. One more question. I have read where a few people using this product have experienced water pump leaks right after using it. It did what it said but then the water pump leaked. Have you ever had this happen to you or know someone that did?

  • I used to work PT for a mechanic and he used to thin coat the gaskets with ultra blue. I have heard mechanics talk about silicone getting into the transmission or plugging up the heater core. I would think that would be an excessive amount though. Any other additives for fixing leaks that can plug up heater cores?

Have you heard about the abrasive disks/particles that are used to clean gasket surfaces they now say ruins engine bearings? I worked for mecahnic that used those with failures.

  • @Haleon1018 Yes, those discs can cause problems, and can using ultra blue. Some things work, some don't. I've had great luck with steel seal fixing head gasket leaks. Scotty

  • Will this work for fuel pumps also?

  • @davshaw5 Yes, on the side that bolts to the engine and seals oil from the engine in old mechanical fuel pumps. Scotty

  • @davshaw5 No, if they leak, they need replacing. Scotty

  • I have only 1 small tiny leak at the top center. Big enough for 1 single drip every 10 seconds after a heavy vehicle soaking. So Im using Permatex Windheild Leak sealant. "Flowable". After the tiny leak is sealed.Im going to use the rest of the tube along the top just as a precaution. If it gives me 2 years no leak,It did its job.

  • man wish i coulda found this stuff sooner last winter i did an intake set on my car,got it all back together in one day but the thermostat kept leaking,so for 3 days in 5 degree weather i had to drain my cooling systems and reseal with rtv and various other stuff i tried finally got it with "cooling system specific" silicon ya i know first time ive heard of it too, looks like this stuff would work great for a cheap rebuild on my engine id only have to buy the head gaskets instead of a full set ;)

  • Dude.Your Wife Told You Good Things Come in Small Packages. No Offensive Scott. Not being funny.I would be worried m8.lol

  • @mickeygovender You haven't read the comments below, my wife was referring to herself as the small package, as she is 5'1'' tall. Some people just have dirty minds of their own. Scotty

  • @scottykilmer Ohh!!I wasn't having a go m8.Just seemed a bit odd.

  • Love the videos, Scotty. I have a 98 Grand Prix with an infamous oil pan gasket leak. Do you know of any technique to seal the pan without dropping it? Will this stuff do the trick?

    Thanks!

  • @mtriv111 You still have to drop the pan to use this sealer, nothing will stop a pan leak without taking it apart. Scotty

  • could that be used....to run a thick bead along the top of the windsheild to stop a tiny leak?

  • @97warlock Nothing stops windshield leaks correctly except removing the windshield and resealing it. Realize they are just glued in, and that's the only thing holding them in. Scotty

  • @scottykilmer ...True . As far as PREPPING the windsheild before applying the sealant.....How do we PREP it? Theres only like a 1/4 inch clearance between the truck rook & the Glass so its hard to get in there & "prep" the surface. I used a skinny brush & tried to sweep out any loose debree & blow it out. Any other ideas?

  • @97warlock You have to Remove the entire windshield to use any sealant on it, which is a BIG job getting the actual glass out. If you try putting sealer just without removing the glass, it will not seal the leak for very long, if at all. The pros remove the glass and use a sealer cutting knife to get the glass out of the frame. Personally, I'd leave it to a pro, it's too easy to break the glass when removing it. scotty

  • @97warlock I had a 92 plymouth acclaim with a bad leak on the top of the windsheild, I put a heavy bead of silicone on it and it worked like a charm. It didn't look very nice but it lasted for as long as I had the car, which was about 2.5 years.

  • "its not easy to get parts for a 24 year old car" sure it is, Alot of parts can be retrofitted, depending on how popular that model is there also still manufactured.

  • @Lokivoid OK, but its always not easy to get those parts quickly if you want to fix it all in the same day. Scotty

  • @Lokivoid Scotty's right. I work at a Toyota Dealership and I have to wait anywhere from 2-6 days on parts for my Toyota MR2 turbo. I don't do Autozone, because their parts are not quality. Even hoses from there suck.

  • @24okay

Depends on who manufactured the part autozone sells as store brand, They also sell parts of other brands. Though i live near the summit racing warehouse so i dont have issue with obtaining aftermarket parts.

  • @Lokivoid LOL Lucky you. I hate going to VATOzone.

  • you can always use jb weld.

  • @guayacan07 it did for a long time when I would run on hot days, but Ive since had all that fixed. Please stop talking about my Chicano butt. Limit your discussion to the leak sealant only.

  • Scotty, should I use this instant gasket stuff instead of seat covers? My slammed 1981 Lincoln Continental has a large tear on the seat where I put my Chicano butt.

  • @platypusone Only if you want your butt to stick to the seat. Scotty

  • @scottykilmer Not on big surfaces, it would cost too much. JB weld is great stuff, use it all the time, but for sealing small holes or gluing small areas together. Scotty

  • Man, that was great. Informative and entertaining...great job! Thanks!

  • why is your head always tilted to the side? it bothers me you should work on keeping it straight no offense but you look like an idiot.

  • @AAAHHHwoow No offense, but anyone bothered by how someone holds their head needs serious psychiatric help., Please get some. Scotty Kilmer

  • @scottykilmer What other guy give free advice on top of makin video,s ?come on man he,s a class act ,why not admite as much ? this guy deserves a break ,i put him on facebook all the time and my friends love em.

  • @scottykilmer I am bothered a lot by how people hold their head. If they are slunched over and have bad posture, it annoyed the crap out of me. I practice good posture every day, but I don't pick on people over it. haha. Just sayin.

  • Greetings ...

    I have a problem with a 2000 2.4L engine Audi Quattro

Oil leaking below headgesket ... I fixed it on one side where it is easy access

but the other side (v6) is a little tricky

My question is whether there are some products, such as steeal seal but to put in engine oil?

  • @RedArmy1922 NOTHING will seal oil gasket leaks other than putting a new gasket in. some sealers can help oil seals, as in camshaft seals, but nothing works on gaskets. For seal leaks, try AT 205 reseal. Scotty

  • This is the right stuff. Scotty Kilmer lol

  • whats the name of that sealant

  • @hp11208 It's called Permatex The Right Stuff. Scotty Kilmer

  • This makes me wonder now, if the auto mechanics are using this stuff and charging me hundreds of dollars for parts.

  • @porn1978 Dishonest ones would, but honest ones would explain what they are doing. The stuff REALLy works, it still amazes me.I've tried all kinds of sealants and nothing comes close to this if you're in a hurry to get a job done. Many silicone sealers do work, but take 24 hours to try, and who's got that time to wait? Scotty Kilmer

  • @scottykilmer ...Yep you're right about honest mechanics..I'm always leary of some of the products that supossed to seal leaks, but i'm going to take your word for it and try some of this stuff. Thanks scotty.

  • A Thermostat Gasket is Very Different form Head Gaskets!!!

In Any case you don't use that Crap over a Proper Gasket or you can Expect to do it a Second Time!

Maybe Watch Your Own Videos Before You Comment on Them!!!

  • OK, I'm not perfect, I answer tons of questions and I was responding to a head gasket video, not this one. Excuse me. BUT, I've used The Right Stuff for over a decade now in place of MANY gaskets and NEVER had one come back leaking. The stuff is amazing, and Permatex isn't even paying me to say this (I wish they were.) I've had cars where the metal was so corroded or deformed a gasket would not seal, but The Right Stuff did. Scotty Kilmer

  • yeah my first automotive shop used right stuff and I have been using it to help seal gaskets and in some cases with no gaskets. my old boss of that auto shop even used right stuff to plug small bolts or screw holes in a boat he bought and it worked like a charm never leaked after that

  • we have used it for a race car exhaust gasket and it worked fine.

  • New to a car (a beginner), but i have a 96 acura car and now it is overheating. I can't go anywhere because of that. I don't know if the radius is causing the problem or the black tube to the radius. I fills it up with green water, but it keep overheating when i drove. When opening the car i saw green liquid splatting everywhere. I thought it was the cape that causing the problem but unsure. Please anyone help will be consideration. Thank YOU. Reply ASAP>

  • Sounds like you have a radiator leak or a coolant hose leak.

The coolant hoses are the hoses that connect to the radiator and also to the engine block itself. The "green water" is anti-freeze or coolant (it does both cools the hot motor and keeps the throttle from freezing). When the car is cold pop off the radiator cap closest to the front of the car on the top of the rad, use a funnel and top off the antifreeze. I reccomend taking it to a shop for them to check for the leak.

  • LOL, hilarious; "my wife says good things come in small packages". good 1 scott.

  • You may have taken this comment the wrong way--my wife is barely five feet tall and 105 pounds. It has nothing to do with my own personal size. Scotty

  • Small pecker. LOL

  • You didn't get the gyst of what I was referring to. My wife is just a tad over five feet tall (so SHE is the small package, not I.) Scotty Kilmer

  • Ohh chill I was just giving you shit.

  • or you could jsut make a gasket from gasket material?

  • Sometimes yes, sometimes no. Many sealed areas on modern vehicles are recessed and you couldn't get a hand made gasket from flat material to fit the recesses correctly. The sealer fits into all the nooks and crannies quite well, sometimes even better than a factory made gasket. Scotty Kilmer

  • can i use it as a band aid?

  • You certainly can on your vehicle's head gasket, But Not on your own body. Scotty Kilmer

  • nope, follow gasket manufactor instructions.....

  • HILARIOUS! lol

  • Is that REALLY your own old car (an 80s vintage Corolla)?

  • Yep, an 81 Toyota corolla SR5 scotty kilmer

  • So...is that REALLY your daily driver (a vintage 80s Corolla)?

  • loads of companies sell stuff like this. I frequently use gasket compound when sealing inlet manifolds and coolant inlets/outlets

  • i would use that stuff and a paper gasket to go with it just to be safe

  • What brand is the ratchet?

    Is RTV?

  • Hey man you are alsome!!!
