I enjoy the comments about Santana and his superior technical style...Santana has played Jingo a thousand times. He has had time to perfect every note...Clapton holds his own on an unrehearsed jam..I wonder how many times he has played Jingo? I wonder if Sanata would do as well if the played Laya? Crossroads? @paddyfandango: Interesting. I myself would say, that Carlos Santana is by far the technically more proficient Guitarist with superior rhythm skills. But it doesn't matter. Each of them has the necessary skills to get the music from their head into the guitar. To me, Santana is fueled by a more positive and energetic passion, while Clapton is primarily powered by melancholy. Santana can surf the Music like a huge wave, while Clapton plays like he's in a kayak on a lake with mist over the water.

@OskarHellstroem Well, Jimi was an innovator, who entered new ground with his guitar. Mckee, though I enjoy his videos is primarily playing around with fancy techniques. Perhaps he would have been an innovator if he had been active during the sixties, but things being as they are, he is an immensely tallented, technically well-versed guitarrist and listening to his music is immensely enjoyable. But his melodies are't near as intricate as Jimi's. But let's continue this discussion elsewhere...
