Are they potty trained? It's so hard to have mine potty trained.. They're about 8 months old and they stink up fast.. and even dirty their fur. Any advice?
@abylovesyou How I potty trained mine was to put bits of poo in their litter tray, and eventually they caught on :) Mine were a few weeks old when I started doing this though.. I change their litter tray every day. Rabbits do clean themselves, but if your rabbits over weight, it may not be able to clean everywhere. I used to brush mine when they were that little with a soft brush. They're 8 now :3
omg they look like sweet hearts. and ilove how the brown one keeps layin down all cute. when i go to my bunnys cage she runs back and forth with then puts her feet on the cage when she wants out or food lol
recently daisy my neverland dwarf sadly passed away anfter having this serious cold which pets at home said she would get over. never by rabbits or guinea pigs at pets at home. dandy the one she was with has been so lonley so i have brought her in for the winter she now lives in my bed room happily as eva
i have four rabbits not house rabbits but outside rabbits i have one named leo he is 8 months old and is trying to escape his hutch at every chance he can get even though he is out everyday, one named fluffy he is really fluffy he is about three and if friendly and two named daisy and dandy both live in the same huch they are 12 weeks old on sunday havn got used to me yet but its a working progress lol.
I like the video you posted with the bunnys. I was thinking on getting one and I was wondering what breed are yours? Are they considered medium or large? Thanks
They're not any particular breed. Cadbury is a dwarf-mix, Kaylee's just a normal bunny. Kaylee's medium-sized, and Cadbury is smallish-medium-sized. Full-dwarf bunnies are smaller, but the breed in general is known for being less laid-back.
This is so adorable!! You should make another video! I didn't know what "begging" meant until I saw yours do it. Then I realized my rabbits do it allll the time.
Probably not. I mean, I'm sure there are bunnies out there that would, but most don't. If you shake a treat jar they're much more likely to come running. :)
Mine comes to me :3 not just by calling him though, I open my arms and motion to myself and the action combined with calling his name brings him to me in seconds x3
You can train a rabbit to come by conditioning and learning, which is a form of behavioral psychology. You get them into a habit of calling the rabbit's name and presenting food. They will catch on quite soon after about 5 times. This is how I got my baby bunny at 8 weeks old to come when she was called.
Getting one from a shelter or foster agency is definitely the way to go. (Bunny foster places usually have a better selection.) Make sure the bunny is about 1 year old already, or his/her personality might change for the worse by then. Good luck!
whoever is looking into wanting a bunny (i noticed a few) u should definitely look into rescuing (adopting) one from a shelter. jsut take a look at the videos of abused and neglected rabbits! it wil lreally change ur prespective.
Baby rabbits are oh so cute indeed. But a lot of rabbits end up being really unfriendly/skittish/just plain mean, and it's hard to tell until they're about 1 yr old whether they'll be super-friendly-love-buns or not. That's the risk you take for the pleasure of having a bun during the adorable baby period.
Adopting a bunny usually costs around $60 ($25 or so in a pet store, which I would strongly recommend against, and you'd have to get it spayed or neutered for about $60 anyway if you want it to be litter-box trained). Pellets, litter, and hay can be gotten in bulk for cheap, and if you have access to a yard/garden, veggies can be cheap too. Also, they do love corn stalk leaves, weeds like dandelions, banana peels, and plenty of other human discards.
Some pet stores partner with foster agencies and do rabbit adoptions, which is perfectly fine. Pet stores that sell bunnies usually get them from breeder mills though, which is bad from a perspective of 1) not saving the wonderful bunnies already out there that need homes (that are often destroyed in shelters), and 2) creating demand for operations where bunnies are often mistreated.
that was way cute!! i too have two house bunnies but they are not best of friends. bunny bonding is really hard, it takes lots of patience and hard work. it due time Im sure its worth it.
Actually, our bunnies haven't shown much interest in chewing on our furniture. (well, except this one recliner. But I hate that recliner anyway, so I don't bother to discourage them.) They do like to rip up the carpet in particular spots where they're denied entry into spaces where they want to go (closets, for example), but we put down carpet scraps in those spots that we don't mind them chewing.
This is typical .... PET STORES SELDOM KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT RABBITS. I bet you they don't even know the sex and age of those bunnies. Take both to a RABBIT VET, not a dog/cat vet, to ascertain their overall health and make plans to get both altered regardless of sex.
one is a boy, one is a girl and they are now 15 weeks old. and have been done. we took them to a normal vet not a rabbit vet. so before you go thinking you know everything that i dont know. think again.
Haha, cute! First part is my favorite, where the one just flops over and the other has this look of, "...Dude." Rabbits would be fun - but my doggie would eat them. O_o
Get them both done... not only does altering the rabbits keep them from reproducing, but male and female rabbits - females especially - develop cancer of their reproductive organs in a few short years.. cutting their life span in half! Altered rabbits can live 10-12 years! Also, just because they're brother and sister does not mean they will stay bonded after they are altered. Altering a rabbit changes it's ENTIRE demeanor. Don't just throw them back together. Watch my bunny date video..
Any kind is great, as long as you adopt instead of buying from a pet store. Not only does it save a bunny that might have been destroyed, but it's also better in terms of getting a good pet--they're usually neutered/spayed at the foster agencies, which makes them litterbox trainable and more docile, and if you get one that's at least 1 year old, his/her personality will be stable and you can pick a super friendly one.
Aww! How adorable. How did you teach them to eh.. only poop where they supposed to? If i may ask? We have a little rabbit. Also a house rabbit. Its his first day in our home.. so. yeah
We got ours litter box trained from the foster place--they still drop a few poops around random places, but nearly all of them go in their litter boxes. Most bunnies if spayed/neutered will figure out how to use their litter boxes eventually, but even well-litter-box-trained bunnies will drop poops everywhere in a new home until they're convinced it's "their" territory.
I'm not so bothered about the poop but I was just wondering if you started them off in that carpeted cage or did you wait untill they could figure out where to wee?
We started them out in the carpeted cage, yup. They really did come litter-box trained, and figured out immediately that the box with the hay was where they should pee.
absolutely adorable!!! they are beautiful =)))

Bunnies are also better-behaved and much easier to litter-box train when they're neutered/spayed, so you should definitely have them both done.
