Awesome. I did see the early Clash performing it in London and I can guarantee you the place was even more insane, the audience totally out of their mind
I was there!!! I rememeber they had other punk bands from different parts of the world at this "international punk rock show". It was in celebration of the Olympics coming to Los Angeles. It was different because each band sang in their own language. The DK's were the only American band and was the last to play. Good show!
I remember a riot after this show and the LAPD was chasing punks down the alleys and the helicopter flying overhead. Hard to believe the Olympic is a Korean church now! Saw some crazy fights in that place!
I was at that show. The Olympic auditorium was just nuts all the time. The gnarliest pits and LAPD on the outside. The neighborhood wasn't so hot either. But man I had fun there.
@jks2 I think its a cheap japanese guitar from the 70s. Kinda reminds me of a Epiphone wilshire tho or another Epiphone from the 60s like the MC5 used
I was there. LA Grand Olympic Auditorium. International show with the '84 Olympics going on 2 miles south. Best fucking gig ever. Six bands for a whopping $8.50 and even got a free t-shirt. Here was the line-up: Solucion Mortal-Tijuana, Reagan Youth-NYC, Risteyutut-Finland, Raw Power-Italy, BGK-Holland, and DK headlined. Three pits, lots of fights, LAPD waiting outside on the horses.

we were a group of skaters from redondo and hermosa beach what a great period in time and even better that these shows where the shit what a a trip to be able to brring it up and actually see. And all the wild brawls in and outside the show. Best ever.
@Terazzi1 You are a complete LIAR! I was at that show, I was the security guy, kneeling...down.... and... Wait a minute, I wasn't there! WTF!? lol PUNK WILL NEVER DIE!
@ cbgbs i was security and everyone else who was security was either in punk/hardcore bands or liked the music and knew most of the local crews ,, with the exception of dms and fsu gangs everyone was very cool , not saying all the dms guys were jerks , but all the fsu boston scum that came down to start shit would get a thrashing out back
It was originally done by Sonny Curtis and The Crickets (post Buddy Holly) in 1959. The song was famously covered by Bobby Fuller Four, who recorded a more successful version of the song in 1965.
Oh my fucking god, I remember this night well. Reagan Youth was there and played a whipping version of their "Degenerated" anthem, later used in the Sandler/Buscemi/Fraser movie Airheads. Oh, to be 18 and living the LA punk scene again...
Dan White murdered San Francisco City supervisor Harvey Milk and mayor George Moscone. White tried to cop the plea that Twinkies and other sugary snacks caused huge mood swings that made him commit the assassinations. That's where the line about twinkies in the song comes from/
