  • If we are the greatest country in the world, why don't we have better schools?

  • ron PAUL FOR 2012!!!

  • So why are his eyes reading something and not looking at the camera? Is he just pretending? Education in america suck shit anyways. Destroy it, dont enhance the corporate and special lies of education.

  • God saves everyone, if they let Him. God won't save anyone against their will.

But those who have descended into monstrosity, hell-bent on world domination, have quite a long walk up to Heaven, with many bad debts to repay.

In fact, the lowest of the low, as grand as they think they are, will be last to arrive, far behind all the little people they have stomped on. God's impersonal law of the boomerang prevails.

"The last shall be first, and the first shall be last." ~ Jesus Christ

  • The greatest Terror defense network of US unmanned Drones in history! He is making great strides on defense and protecting the American people and has been much more successful than Bush/Cheney or any of his predecessors in doing so.

  • halfway through his first term, Obama has compiled a remarkable track record. As president, he has rewritten America's social contract to make health care accessible for all citizens. He has brought 100,000 troops home from war and forged a once-unthinkable consensus around the endgame for the Bush administration's $3 trillion blunder in Iraq. He has secured sweeping financial reforms that elevate the rights of consumers over Wall Street

  • .... bankers and give regulators powerful new tools to prevent another collapse. And most important of all, he has achieved all of this while moving boldly to ward off another Great Depression and put the country back on a halting path to recovery.

Along the way, Obama delivered record tax cuts to the middle class and slashed nearly $200 billion in corporate welfare — — reinvesting that money to make college more accessible and Medicare more solvent.

  • He prevented the collapse of the Big Three automakers — saving more than 1 million jobs — and brought Big Tobacco, at last, under the yoke of federal regulation. Even in the face of congressional intransigence on climate change, he has fought to constrain carbon pollution by executive fiat and to invest $200 billion in clean energy — an initiative bigger than John F. Kennedy's moonshot and one that's on track to double America's capacity to generate renewable energy

  • ... On the social front, he has improved pay parity for women and hate-crime protections for gays and lesbians. He has brought a measure of sanity to the drug war, reducing the sentencing disparity for crack cocaine while granting states wide latitude to experiment with marijuana laws. And he has installed two young, female justices on the Supreme Court, creating what Brinkley calls "an Obama imprint on the court for generations."

This does not include killing Bin Laden and creating...

  • @sincityscott

You can dump all the pretty PR you want on top of Obomba's bullshit, but the world can still smell it.

  • Can't give Obama 4 more years no telling what he will do knowing its his last 4.

He has already put a needle in social security , mandated healthcare to jailcare,

encourage a mosque in NY, and taking sides with every country while pushing Americas in the face and acts racist to the black who supported him.

Obama is simply put a janky ass nigga.. For every one of his good intentions his attempts are the opposite of whats desired.

Stop spending we need less government u jackal

  • Yeah whatever all Obama does it yap yap yap. You'd think with how much energy he puts in speeches that after the speech he'd go and do something about those issues but all he is doing is selling to get votes.

  • There's still time to turn things around, Obama.

Ask God, while kneeling to Him.

  • I know you are trying your best Mr. President. But you have to understand. That old was passed by a Republican. And i can guarantee that the next republican will fuck it up again. They don't care about education. It's about Oil and Money. Which would explain why Bush stayed in office so long.

  • There is only one solution: Ron Paul

  • Quarter of students aren't finishing high school, because of democracy. In a normal country we have social structures. Hard-working and intelligent people are at the top, while crass and lazy people are at the very bottom. We have to show to the kids, those people from the bottom of society and tell them, that if they won't study or work, they will end up the same way - dying on the streets. Democracy is trying to eliminate differences, and leaves young people with no aspirations to do better.

  • Why people are listening to such a dipshit as this is beyond me. THIS guy is gunna run my life, tell me what to do? This dipshit is simplistic, illogical, and ridiculous looking to boot,

  • @Rainez667 They are listening BECAUSE this is logical.

  • @TheNeosinneR Want to Improve education? Get rid of the Department of Education - Ever since it was introduced by Carter the cost of education has SKYROCKETED and the level of education has PLUNGED !

  • @original1sun ~~> And on a side note, schools could do more but our elected officials keep cutting public education... So much that it is hard to pay for the bare necessities to teach the children buch less have community outreach projects... They say leave it to charity... Unfortunatly there isn't enough charity to replace the economic flow when WE the People are employed...

  • I like how Obama is giving the education powers to state and local government. Because eductaion is less about money, and more about how well the teachers and parents can teach the young. You gotta be easy, get them involved and be a leader for the kid. The local and state governments can be a better leader if they ever tryed than federal government in this area. I like what Obama is doing.

  • Meantime, none of the felony crimes committed by American and Canadian White perpetrators and their accomplices has been prosecuted: death threats, threats of government forced disappearance against me made by an American government agent on Yahoo newsgroups; perjuries committed by the American professor James Cahill, and by OHRC officer Alan Strojin; forgery of court document and criminal fraud committed by US District Court judges Saundra Brown Armstrong and Phyllis Hamilton; etc.

  • Then the Ontario Human Rights Commission and UC Berkeley professor James Cahill set me up for criminal prosecution - I was compelled to testify “everything true” before the Commission and then was charged for my testimony, in violation of the Canadian Constitution’s “complete immunity” provision against self-incrimination. Moreover, I was convicted by a judge for threatening Waterhouse merely on basis of a “guessing” that although I didn’t speak of Waterhouse’s name, I “meant Waterhouse”.

  • 1991, as a MA student I challenged a U of Toronto professor David Waterhouse’s theory “beauty is a European concept” and Asians didn’t have it in history, he lost and retaliated against me with a series of fraud and violations of the university’s grading rules, and further racial prejudice that poor Chinese still wanted to “claim historical inventions”. I complained to the University but was retaliated with a wrongful dismissal from my cafeteria position, causing me the loss of life’s means.

  • People of the world, be alerted! The US is the real hidden terrorist to the none-White people. I am Wanxia Liao, a Chinese immigrant, a victim of a Fascist racial persecution in that I was even criminalized jointly by the Canadian and US governments merely as a result of academically challenging a professor's White supremacy theory in an university and took his reprisal fraud to a human rights commission.

Where the hell is the justice?

  • @original1sun ~~> Very hard for parents to be involved when working 2 jobs for a $5 gallon of milk...

  • @sparkyj99 you make excuses and i'm sure thats not the only reason because not many people have jobs according to the economy and Obama...the main reason is because we aren't being held accountable for our children and we have people like you who make excuses instead of making it a reality there are 24 hours in a day and i'm sure there is someone taking care of the children while parents are working or are the kids illegally home alone? give me a break sparky and be serious.

  • @original1sun ~~> Here's one for you... A single mother up at 5 drops off her daughter at 6:30 & picks her up a 6pm... Now theres dinner & chores including school work at the table till she kisses her goodnight at 8... 2 hours a day isn't enough parent involvment but just enough for her daughter to ask why she is always so angry... That single mother makes less then 30k and 16k too much to qualify for prorated child care... One job used to be enough to feed a family... WE are The Underemployed

  • @sparkyj99 this sounds like a difficult and unfortunate situation. but where is the father and the grandparents and the school system could help if it didn't have to deal with disciplinary problems. but the parents must be involved not just the government. if the little girl doesn't cause problems in school there shouldn't be a problem for her. what should be done in her case then? should everyone who didn't contribute to making the child help and if so, why?

  • @original1sun ~~> In that case her only living relative was the grandmother who guilted her into having a rape baby... The school does help with before and aftercare at a charge... Your question was of parental involvement... It is hard sometimes for a parent to be involved and pay the bills... And your last question of those who didn't make the baby helping?? Well that show where OUR American Community Spirit has went... Instead of everybody chips in, it is now US & Them... WWJD??

  • let parents start taking responsibility for their children. put kids out whose parents or guardians can't control their behavior issues. institue a 3 strikes rule for disciplinary problems, after 3 no more school for them. Math and Sciences should be focused from K-5, i.e. every class should teach toward an appreciation or functional knowledge of the 2 even if its through rote memorization. stop politic-ing Obama you're just creating more of a mess, some have to be left behind as an example

  • Comment removed

  • @sparkyj99 that would be for their parents to decide but they can't continue to affect the learning of those who want to learn...perhaps they want to do something else anyways...but it shouldn't be at the expense of responsible parents and children.

  • Let's get this guy out of office; he's a third term of Bush. Where's the hope and change we can believe in? Ron Paul 2012!

  • Books are US: Comments by Blowoutyourass

  • Its because the American culture doesn't value a good education as much some other countries. That's all, its simple. Doesn't anyone want to hold the parents and the students responsible?

  • If only there was a correlation between what Obama says, and what Obama does. He is admittedly a good speaker, .. but he's a terrible politician. Weak, compromising, .. and a big-business friendly politician who was elected by the average person .. cause he lied to them. I'll probably vote for Obama again, .. but that's only cause the rest of the eggs are more rotten than he.

  • @mmatvnetful while I agree with 90% why vote for someone you know is not going to get the job done based on experience? give someone a chance who hasn't proven they are weak.

  • @original1sun I agree.. but there is a somewhat long history of campaign promises being made and not fulfilled. Another [D] candidate is going to come in and make big promises.. while they too might relive the same compromising, accomplishmentless scenario. The [D] field is wide open, and there isn't anyone campaigning too hard - except the President. We shall see.

  • @mmatvnetful why be limited to a [D] candidate?..while I don't agree with a lot of politicians I do believe some support issues that i believe and if they are D,R,or I i will vote for the person running that i trust most...i trusted Obama at one point, but I no longer have faith in his convictions or ideas...so I wont vote for him again.

  • @original1sun There is only one solution: Ron Paul

  • @original1sun NO, I totally disagree! "republicans" have gone off the deep end! There is no longer a GOP in America, just this extreme, teapublican party!! Their values are root for the Rich and the Corporations and screw the average American and the Middle-Class! They want to get rid of Social Security, Medicare, Women's health care, Public Radio, Text - books, the Dept or Education, Teachers....etc..

Democratic is the ONLY WAY TO VOTE, to save America and preserve the RIGHTS or the common

  • @sincityscott It sounds like total propaganda to me, the democrats are just as bad if not worse and I think some things need to be cut back...and to only vote democrat is insane...It means they can count on your vote regardless of what they do. I vote on issues that most affect me not for parties and democrats say they are for the middle class but that doesn't mean it's true.

  • Obama is not sincere, although he comes off as if he was sincere. He consistently does the opposite of his speeches. He has no principles and caves in to any pressure from the GOP. He is articulate and personable. He is a complete failure,as a leader and is not helping America get out of it's many problems.

  • Go Obama Go!

  • Go Obama!!

  • @whitehouse Student's Tip: Hold Textbook companies accountable for changes made to their publications. Changes should be subject to fact-checking and based on sound, relevant information. Furthermore, forcing students to pay hundreds of dollars for "new-edition" books based on inconclusive or infinitesimal alterations cripples our ability to learn and hinders a teachers ability to teach effectively. Textbooks can be very helpful, but used poorly, they can deter from the very thing they promote.

  • @lskmullen Another thing to keep in mind is that sometimes the old edition of the textbook is better than the new. I remember one of my teachers realizing that last year when we got the "new edition" of a textbook.

  • @lskmullen Now textbook companies are makeing you buy new books every year by moveing the other half the texbook online and seling a code with every coppy and makeing it apart of the curiculam.1# Its useless because most teachers dont use the online code and 2# if your on a government grant like me or a scholarship it forces to spend more money on new books then old ones when in fact last years texbook is exactly the same 3# year old unsellable texbooks=More waste in landfills.

  • Greetings, I would rather no dogmatic or radical reply.

1.Why do you think that Obama is a better choice than Ron Paul/Rick Perry?

2.Do you think that Obama is approaching this situation correctly? If yes, why?

3.Why do you think that republicans are being so mutinous Obama's bills?

4.Do you believe that Obama ethnicity affects the Republicans view of him?

5.What would you do to fix the economy if you were the PoTUS

I am doing a research. P.M. me instead of replying due to limitation.

  • @JetsuSeal y only give 2 choices? Cain has good ideas on the economy. 2. no he isn't approaching education correctly because he doesn't allow for parent and child responsibility. 3 and 4. I don't think there is just one reason republicans reject his bills but race is in there 5. I would start with fixing the national economy by getting out of wars and wall street, then education given parents a more active role in the decision making process, and then deal with foreign policy.

  • Will Obama's solution for education have the same effect as Obama's solution for fixing the economy?

  • I don't know about "envy", as it were, but I agree we need to "up our game", all of us. We need to work WITH the world, not just compete, as it were. But, I will try to help my fellow citizens and humans the best way I can: try to BE the change I want and try to be a good example of wisdom and peace. I love school. I think the moral of society needs to be healed. After 9-11, wars, poverty, and injustices, we need to have a global party. <3 Then work out of love, not fear.

  • We absolutely need to reform No Child Left Behind, one more disaster from the Bush administration, that President Obama has to clean up! And he will, but the American people need to contact Congress and ask for new legislation. WE ARE THE CHANGE!

  • Obama thinks he is improving things, every time he makes it worse.

  • @rollsthepaul Your comment makes things worse.

  • “Public Education- The bureaucratic process of replacing absolutely empty mind with a closed one.” Thorax

  • @gunrunner1776 So, Mr. Thorax, what's better than Public Education?

  • The education system needs help. But you are too weak to go about any change in it.

This is one major thing that should be a states issue, for the most part. Ever since the Dept of education was created, education turned to shit. States also have varying issues as well on their schools. I can tell you Ohio is fucked, to begin with.

And why the fuck isn't education free? We pay and we still have some of the lowest standards in the developed world.

USA for the win my ass.

  • @fonkymaster Everything should be free. An evolved species does not use money.

  • best president ever!!! barack obama

  • Strengthening the American Education System

really, YOU'RE FINALLY GOING TO SHUT DOWN THH DEPT OF ED

    IT"S ABOUT FUCKING TIME....

  • Why do kids in Asia outperform American kids in the subjects that matter when the kids in Asia study in leaking old buildings and read worn out text books? Is it because our school buildings need painting? Or is it because the U.S. Department of Education no longer focuses on math and science and now focuses on social studies, english lit, and other subjects that don't help in the real world?

  • @greensoccerballz So why are most of the humanities programs - or at least a large percentage of their funding - being cut from most colleges and high schools? Recently, math and science programs have become the predominant focus in a society more concerned with blind development than with understanding its cultural impact on our society. Thomas Jefferson said in 1814, that "There is in fact no subject to which a member of Congress may not have occasion to refer." Why limit education in any way?

  • @greensoccerballz By Asia I think you mean China because kids in Japan and South Korea actually study in newly built and very comfortable buildings. China is making leaps in their economic growth so what you see now is not indicative of the failure of their education system (which is, of course, flawed in many ways).

  • Comment removed

  • Comment removed

  • @greensoccerballz Those subjects don't help in the real world? That is incorrect. Almost any subject can be applied to the real world.

Example: Social studies is used by the history of our country and World History. People in the government would want to know this kind of thing so that they don't make decisions that the past has shown to be unwise. Same applies to lawyers as previous court cases can be used as arguments

I agree Math and Science are important subjects though.

  • @greensoccerballz From my point of view, it's not only because of the gov't. Parents/students care more about their education in Asia. In America, the average student feels happy if they get a B or C. In an Asian country, the average student feels disappointed if they get anything below an A- (not to mention that the parents would be upset about it).

America does have students that don't want below an A-, that is for sure. But the problem is that they are becoming a minority in public schools

  • @greensoccerballz I think that it is a stereotype to assume Asian students work in conditions like that. Asia is booming right now and is not the same place that it was 10-15 years ago. I would agree however that the Dept. of Education doesn't give enough incentives to students who study in the math and science fields. Furthermore, my personal experience during my high school career in America consisted of a lot of "worn out textbooks and old leaky buildings."

  • @greensoccerballz

Not only that, but Asian kids also study and work so much more. Look at the public schools, the level of some of those kids is astounding. I personally think kids should enjoy themselves, sure but also work; its not like you have taxes to pay, mouths to feed or any real responsibilities.

  • @greensoccerballz good question. We need more engineers and scientists! But more importantly we need the majority of students, not a minority, to GO TO COLLEGE. It's actually not that hard, you just have to work for it. It's your #1 priority when you are young!

  • @greensoccerballz ATTITUDE

  • The 21st Century Competencies

School Districts have been implementing these competencies

In AP , Honors, CP classes in high school

  • Eliminate the Department of Education and give that control back to the States and to the people as intended by the Founding Fathers..

  • @gunrunner1776 The Founder Fathers were not flawness. From the start of the Washington Administration, there were partisan debates between states' rights and a strong central government. We have to make the changes necessary to keep the nation strong. In the 1700s, people were a lot different. Now we have people from all over the world in America. After the Civil War, the nation realized that we needed a strong central government in order to establish order in the Southern states.

  • @hgcai3456 You are correct that the people in the1700's were different they had a lot more common sense and understood tyranny when the saw it.The problem is not about a more central control as abusive control. The closer the education decisions are made by the local populations for their local schools eliminates waste in time and money. We no longer educate our children to think, we brain wash to comply.

  • @gunrunner1776 It is that type of narrow-mindedness that is pulling our country down. Not all schools in the US are like the back-country schools in Kentucky. When a eleventh grade student arrived in NJ from Kentucky, he had to take all 10th grade classes as a 11th Grader. His credits were not enough. NJ has some competitive schools like WWP , JP Stevens, Etc.

  • @hgcai3456 Sorry... I was not educated in Kentucky.

  • Record levels are being spent for education, the results are very poor. Money is not the answer to the problem. 70% black kids born out of wed lock, 40% general population to single moms. Single parents increase the chances of poverty. 50% poor graduate on time (if at all), if in college only 25% will graduate.

Sorry obama, unions and money is not the answer. The family unit (one male one female) which is called marriage is the answer.

  • @runman1271 Do teabaggers want forced marriages? What if you don't like the mate that the government has chosen for you? Should divorce be allowed? Why are you baggers bitching about unions? Would you like to work in a sweat shop for a $1.25 per hour? If not for unions there would be no middle class. Everything republicans do tears down the middle class and enriches the rich. The middle class didn't cause the economic catastrophe. It was republican incompetence deregulation and tax cuts.

  • @Phalinex I was just stating what the stats. Getting mad about it does not change the truth. I live in one of the poorest counties in Texas, we spend less per student than the national average. There is a strong pull here for families. The teacher's union has little to say about our kids education. Over 50% last graduating class was honors.

Money/gov't is not the solution to the problem.

unions do have their place, but when they get too powerful, they need to be restructured.

  • Comment removed

  • Teachers desperately want their students to learn, grow, and succeed in life. We can not do it with the formulaic approach that the states and the US government are requiring us to use. We can not do it by teaching to the test. I have seen the decline that has occurred in student understanding and ability that is a direct result of having been exclusively taught facts and test items. By excluding the broader curriculum, we have done this generation a grave disservice.

  • Know the truth.

The black panthers are yelling to kill white babies, black mobs are running around beating whites. This picture is growing ugly, worse with Obama yelling to fight. Is it time to say enough is enough. Keep your guns close and youur family closer. Obama is asking for Class Warfare.

  • @TheImpeacher So you teabaggers plan to take on the government from your little pink houses with shotguns? I don't expect that you've put a lot of thought into this, or anything else for that matter. Teabaggers are not known for their knowledge wisdom or logic because they have none of it.

  • Education is one of the things that should be in the hands of individual teachers. My only concern is that sometimes teachers suck at teaching. If we could make sure that all our teachers are qualified then I wouldn't have a problem letting them have all the say in their own classrooms.

  • @RegioLunar I think unions should get equal treatment and pay taxes. They are politically biased.

  • After holding America hostage in order to extend bush tax cuts for the rich republicans are now holding FEMA funding hostage in order to cut more jobs. They’re threatening another shut down of the entire federal government if they don't get their way. Republicans are playing a game of chicken with America in order to force through their pro-rich, anti America right wing agenda.

  • @seeker267 ok. you seem to have a good head on your shoulders. now may i ask this. when abe lincoln became president, did he have even a highschool diploma? he changed the world. now you tell me a person needs college? a person only needs to believe in what they want to achieve. money money money. that is what it's about. the human mind has been left to wither. to collect dust. somebody invented college. that man or woman was nothing more that a mind. the same one you have.
