@katana660 and perhaps one of the best practical fighters too. he beat boxers, kickboxers, wrestlers...even bulls. anybody that accepted a challenge, oyama was tough like hell man. i would never want to face him in a street fight, the power that this guy posesses is inhuman.
Sem dúvida Masutatsu Oyama foi um grande lutador. Embora eu pratique Shotokan, admiro e respeito muito o Kyokushin! E vejo o karatê como um só, sem essa guerra de estilos!
According to the famed Karate Grandmaster Masutatsu Oyama in his book "Advanced Karate" on pg.13 "The oldest known records concerning combat techniques, hieroglyphic scrolls from Egyptian tombs, dating as far back as 4000 B.C."
This master is one of the few truly martial artists that have reached and showed what really karate is, actually I think he's probably, if we are talking about the best in real karate combat or kumite exponent!!
Oyama was a bitter guy that kills poor bulls -not brave and not big, for sure- just to demonstrate himself that he can do good karate without being japanese...
si todas las mujeres fueran como tu todo seria diferente, no habría guerras, el calentamiento global no existiría y no habría hoyos en la capa de ozono
te mereces lo mejor y creo que lo mejor no soy yo
One of the reasons KKarate is so tough is because student abilities / combat skills / and conditioning are taken into account during rank promotions. Many Karate schools promote people to blackbelt and above who are completely outof shape. All they have to do is demonstrate poor kata performance and self defense prerehearsed techniques. Many schools don't even require sparring. That's why grapplers, who always practice with live apponents destroy karateka with ease.
he was a great amrtial artist an i pay deference to him...but i don't like the idea of hitting bulls to death or unconscious...he should have been aware of the fact that it is wrong to harm another creature just to demonstrate his own strength or predominance...OSU
Those bulls were half dead and ready for slaughter. Seeing him beating up half dead animals makes me cringe. I think it's a disgrace to the martial arts. Oyama was a great master, he was also even a better promoter.
Mas Oyama is pretty much the perfect male rolemodel, I keep one of his books with the cover face up on my table, so that every time I see it, I know I should train.
Kyokushin is the best martial arts in the world, it shows you how to really fight, it's sure that kung-fu is stylish and things like that but it's not effective in real battle. Kyokushin karate is good against every martial arts. You get endurance and you get stronger. I know it cause I do this martial art. The real two ways of kyokushin are Truth and Endurance.
Kyokunshin is a great martial art no doubt. The K karate guys are strong, conditioned, and mentally prepared to die in the ring. I would put my money on K karate over most martial arts. But I have seen K Karate guys loose MANY times in MMA competitions to grapplers. I have seen them defeated by Judo fighters and Brazilian Jiujitsu fighters. I have seen them lose to boxers (same weight) and Muay Thai Kickboxers many times.
But everything depend on the school that they go to. My sensei told me that many kyokushin karate dojo gave the black belt after only 6 months, It makes 1 year that i'm in my K karate school and i'm only blue with black stripe in the middle belt (5th belt). Some will think that they are very good cause they are black belt but I could beat some of them. Normaly, a K karate member can block everything, he has a very strong concentration so he can block and attack. One shot one kill. karate proverb
That's quite good, but it still doesn't sound like you are training under traditional methods, I have been training for 5 years and am a 7th kyu (Blue belt black tip) whilst my sister has been training for 8 years and she is 5th Kyu (yellow black tip). She hasn't graded for two years. We both train 2-3 times a week. I hope you are taught the Kyokushin way properly, and maybe we can spar or compete in kumite together at a world championship tournament someday. OSU!
well...actually we have one of the best sensei we can have...there's a belt exam every 6 months, we go to it if we thin kwe are ready. We train for about 1h30 hours and then, the sensei has his exam sheet and he evaluate us on many things and we do a battle. Depending on your note and on your efforts, the sensei will get you up to 3 belts. But more you are advanced, more it's hard to get a new belt ;)
No offense my friend, but we are not the ones to judge if we are ready it is up to the sensei. If you are talking about kata training, sparring/kumite for your grading you are correct. But never should you skip 1,2 or 3 belts in one grading that is nonsense. I hope i have misunderstood you, this is NOT the kyokushin way.
We skip 1-2-3 belts because we are ready... we are an official school in the international federation of Kyokushin Karate. We judge if we are ready to get to the exam, like me, I know I wasn't ready to go to the next exam. If you think you are ready, you go for it but it doesn't mean that you will get the next belt. Verything depends on your perfomance. And yes it is ok to skip some belts if you really are ready to get the belt, my sensei learned that from the boss of the federation. A 10th dan
@kiroftw Finally some sense in martial arts video comments, i appreciate it.
One should not be proud, and speak bad about other disciplines. One should embrace every art and try to see if theres something you can benefit and learn.
I think Miyamoto Musashi had the right idea about martial arts, and arts in general.
About Sosai. He welcomed all challenges from anybody from any discipline and when he dies he was the only person in modern history who dies undefeated. I little know but relevant fact.
Sosai Oyama is far from being the only undefeated fighter! I mean get real!!! And by the way Oyama did start with Shotokan, but he continued with Goyu-ryu! Nice video though:)
Hey Brenxxx, You get real. Name one other person who in modern history was undefeated.
8th kyu who was a beginner and who had the initiative to research and put this together = much more than editing.... Judging by your comment you obviously only see the smaller picture....
No you get real:) how about Yoshinao Nanbu who created Sankuaki karate!!! Or have you ever heard of Rocky Marciano??? Man I'm training karate and kickboxing for 16 years so I guess I know something!
in 16 years you failed to even become a proper martial artist. if you did understand martial arts you wouldnt try to argue that this guy wasnt a good martial artist just because he is undefeated
adityajuneja7, remembering katas and kihons, wont make you a fighter. dont use the technichques as you have learned them, instead make them your own. in a fight never pull a fist to your hip. also dont get drawn into a fight with bullys, remember its self defence, its different from fighting. have a think about this, hope it will help.
The fact is: Sosai was undefeated after the 18 months trainig not only in Japan but in the US also, 300 men 100 per day Documented. He master 18 marcial arts and thought fo Kyokushin of the best of it all. When someone else acomplishes this let mw know.
I've seen many strong men, lifting incredible wights and kicking everyones ass with grat skill, but I have never seen anyone with that much foce of will to stay isolated an cold 4 18 months. Overcome the montain, be strong, is this physical? no.
adityajuneja7: Shotokan karate emphasizes the spirit while Kyokushin the physical aspects. This is why Oyama left Funakoshin's school. He was looking for an art that was more designed for self defense and fighting, he wanted to follow the Samurais' ways. Funakoshi stressed the perfection of personalty through his Karate style and self defense was secondary of importance.
thanks because i m doing shotokan then i thought why they dint let me/class do the advanced kicks and stances there are only 6 different types of kicks and 6 types of punching techniques = crap . But it is also all about a body-control or maybe the spirit and thanks for ur explanation
So what i meant in my question was is shotokan is more violent or the kyakushin?
Yes you have to look at each Karate style differently. I did both Shotokan and Kykoshinkai and I was also confused first but after reading books about both styles, I understood the differences. Funakoshi always opposed tournament or sport fighting because he said karate should be to develop personality and fighting is not the most important. Oyama read a lot about the samurais and he wanted to create a style that is fighting first and personality second.
but let me tell u something karate is the worst martial art on this earth when i try to defend myself from the bullies at school they dont even work by the time i do the technichque they just whack me in the face and i broke my braces becos of that altho i m the best student in my dojo
I wouldn't say karate is the worst when it comes to self defense but here is where the Kyokushinkai comes in better. I did Kyokushin first and I was always missing the sparring when I did Shotokan and without sparring it is difficult to develop real skills. You need a partner to practice with and do spar to try your skills. To develop correct timing necessary for real fight you must practice with another person, but it's even better if you spar with more people. Then karate will be effective.
Well, I just watched this video: 'kalaripayat masters of kalarippayattu and ayurveda' and I saw the master disarm a guy with a dagger using a piece of cloth. There I already see weakness in this art, because if it was me, and somebody is tying my hands, I would have kicked immediately. The master's student didn't kick at all just let the master tie him up. Doesn't look like they have effective kicks.
So the important thing isn't what style you learn but how well you can use it.
it would be just a show off or a training , when i train for shotokan called "kumitae" we do really slow and after that a semi free-style in the video u watched was a semi freestyle
we do sparring in shotokan not full contact have competitions i think possibly in the older forms of the style they didnt but full contact is the only way to learn (p.s i have done both i do prefer kyokushin kai)
learn krav maga that is the kinda live or die stuff self defence but dude did you ever do bunkai as a brown belt you should know how to apply kata moves in a more realistic manner plus you should work on your physical condition
Neither should be violent. Karate, and any martial arts should be used for self defense or defend life. Oyama also stressed that you need to look at tournaments as a way to improve your skills but use your skills only for good reasons in real life. Many people unfortunately don't understand this and only focus on to be the best technically. But Oyama also stressed personality as second, you still have to pair a good personality with your good skills and use karate for good.
@adityajuneja7 There is no best martial art, theres only good practicioners. But yes Kalaripyat is one of the oldest, and was the base for shaolin kung fu, and most fighting styles come from those 2.
Wow im a 3rd kyu (brown belt) in Go-kan-ryu but have a lot of respect for Mas oyama and Kyokushin kai. This guy is awesome. I hope to learn Kyokushin kai one day.
This is Shosai Mas Oyamas, founder of Kyokushin karate. If i were you i'd have alot of respect of this guy. He might be old and fat but he knocks you out on three seconds.
Play Poker with the stars! Believe it or not, yesterday night I played the biggest stars of poker at the same table and managed to win a decent pot (for me anyways)! Wanna know how? - Pretty simple, I just registered at Fulltiltpoker com using the Referral Code JUSTMORE and got exclusive $600 Bonus. Maybe I´ll see you there today. Americans welcome!!
Don't slag off other martial arts- I so happen to be a Shotokan practisioner, it may not be an intense as Mas Oyama's style, but it can be pretty handy.
I had been practicing shotokan for 2 and half years and I was beaten by a much smaller street fighter. Kyokushin is the real deal. Shotokan is worthless on the streets
It doesn't have to mean that if you was beaten by a much smaller street fighter that everybody karate students/masters are like you... If you want to learn karate, it will take you many years - 15 or 20,30 years. 2 and half years is really small time...

Overcome the montain, be strong, is this physical? no.

wat's the diffrence between shotokan and kyokushin karate?
adityajuneja7 3 years ago
adityajuneja7: Shotokan karate emphasizes the spirit while Kyokushin the physical aspects.

So what i meant in my question was is shotokan is more violent or the kyakushin?
adityajuneja7 3 years ago
Yes you have to look at each Karate style differently. I did both Shotokan and Kykoshinkai and I was also confused first but after reading books about both styles, I understood the differences. Funakoshi always opposed tournament or sport fighting because he said karate should be to develop personality and fighting is not the most important. Oyama read a lot about the samurais and he wanted to create a style that is fighting first and personality second.
I am glad I could help you.

but let me tell u something karate is the worst martial art on this earth when i try to defend myself from the bullies at school they dont even work by the time i do the technichque they just whack me in the face and i broke my braces becos of that altho i m the best student in my dojo
and i m hlolding brown belt
adityajuneja7 3 years ago
I wouldn't say karate is the worst when it comes to self defense but here is where the Kyokushinkai comes in better. I did Kyokushin first and I was always missing the sparring when I did Shotokan and without sparring it is difficult to develop real skills. You need a partner to practice with and do spar to try your skills. To develop correct timing necessary for real fight you must practice with another person, but it's even better if you spar with more people. Then karate will be effective.
blade0817 3 years ago
i totaly agree with u but i think that kalari is the best used in streetfights etc
adityajuneja7 3 years ago
Well, I just watched this video: 'kalaripayat masters of kalarippayattu and ayurveda' and I saw the master disarm a guy with a dagger using a piece of cloth. There I already see weakness in this art, because if it was me, and somebody is tying my hands, I would have kicked immediately. The master's student didn't kick at all just let the master tie him up. Doesn't look like they have effective kicks.
So the important thing isn't what style you learn but how well you can use it.
blade0817 3 years ago
it would be just a show off or a training , when i train for shotokan called "kumitae" we do really slow and after that a semi free-style in the video u watched was a semi freestyle
adityajuneja7 3 years ago
we do sparring in shotokan not full contact have competitions i think possibly in the older forms of the style they didnt but full contact is the only way to learn (p.s i have done both i do prefer kyokushin kai)
mzee101 3 years ago
learn krav maga that is the kinda live or die stuff self defence but dude did you ever do bunkai as a brown belt you should know how to apply kata moves in a more realistic manner plus you should work on your physical condition
mzee101 3 years ago
Neither should be violent. Karate, and any martial arts should be used for self defense or defend life. Oyama also stressed that you need to look at tournaments as a way to improve your skills but use your skills only for good reasons in real life. Many people unfortunately don't understand this and only focus on to be the best technically. But Oyama also stressed personality as second, you still have to pair a good personality with your good skills and use karate for good.

bot which style of karate do u like?
adityajuneja7 3 years ago
but in my view kalaripyat is the best and the oldest martial art on this earth
adityajuneja7 3 years ago
@adityajuneja7 There is no best martial art, theres only good practicioners. But yes Kalaripyat is one of the oldest, and was the base for shaolin kung fu, and most fighting styles come from those 2.

Met Mass Oyama at Crystal Palace Sports centre in about 1980???, while training in Kyokushinkai.
Actually i was afraid to approach him so just took a picture as he sat with his wife.
Even at that age he was such an imposing man.

I had been practicing shotokan for 2 and half years and I was beaten by a much smaller street fighter. Kyokushin is the real deal. Shotokan is worthless on the streets
tigre777blanco 4 years ago
It doesn't have to mean that if you was beaten by a much smaller street fighter that everybody karate students/masters are like you... If you want to learn karate, it will take you many years - 15 or 20,30 years. 2 and half years is really small time...
