  • I am so glad I found this video. I've been meaning to do the same thing. Horsham's cycle lanes are dotted with these idiot Cyclists Dismount signs. They are not in the highway code and appear to have no law behind them. The only issue I've ever found with this roundabout is the tendency for cars to left hook you if you're going straight over.

  • @Nshimbi Yes, I have experienced that "left hook" problem too. I've found, with experience, that positioning myself as if I might be going right into Sainsbury's tends to stop that.

  • Bloody car drivers. Everyone else stops at junctions, car drivers just get off and push their cars round! :-)

    Fantastically stupid layout

  • What neanderthal moron thought that one up ??????????

  • Good Video :) Nicely done.

  • I'm surprised you didn't run out of 'fuel' walking round that abortion. The council can't even justify it by saying it's for inexperienced cyclists because they could just walk on the pavement and push their bikes.

  • Yep. What you can't see in this video is that it's actually quicker to dismount and walk across on the LEFT of the roundabout - where there are traffic lights and no cycle lane - than use the cycle farcility to the right.

    A complete shambles.

  • Oh.

    My.

    God.

That's completely unbelievable - wtf were they thinking when they came up with that one? Shouldn't you have had a Crystal or something for completing that task?

It looked to be a damned sight more dangerous with all the dismounting and crossing where there were no facilities to stop the traffic... utterly pointless.

Defo send it to the Council and ask if they really think they can justify the cost!!!!

  • I dare you to send this to the council! What a complete waste of money, and a design disaster.

  • That bike lane is a joke! Who would ever use that? Just plain crazy!

  • It allowed the council to meet targets on lengths of cycleways no doubt.
