Abbie Cornish is just incredible in this. Heath Ledger too. This scene where she miscarries they both see the child for the first time and their reactions is just heart-breaking.
there are rel addicts and the ones who had chippie with low grade heroin, low grade heroin has about 1 to 10% purity and the hangover is mild, i used rock powder heroin during the 90s with 50 to 80% pure and hangover was nasty, really nasty
Everything in this movie hits so close to home, all the lying, stealing, and passion, and especially the anger or living everyday by day... there was nota thing ive seen that i havnt been threw.
Incredible acting in this scene from both leads - Abbie Cornish in particular. A frightening look into the horror of smack addiction, but a truly truly wonderful fucking movie...blew me away when I first saw it a few years ago - the effects have been the same second time around.
The only thing I knew about Abbie Cornish was that she dated Ryan Phillipe right... but WOW! She's such a great actress! Heath is also incredible!
Such a sad movie, such a sad story... It must be hard for the doctor and nurses... and even more for the people who struggle addiction and had to go through such tough times
she wasn't trying to hurt her baby, she is a severe addict! besides, that's not what killed the baby. the physical/emotional stress of withdraw is what killed the baby. honestly, the baby probably would have lived if she had continued to use. junkie babies are born addicts. they are usually premature and underweight with the classic health issues of preemies. however, they also usually completely recover!
this movie is beautiful bc its very raw & very real. talented actors doing their jobs!
This film, re-raises a point raised by trainspotting which I think is lacking in lots of dope movies. Which is, that the life of the addict, at least early on, contains a lot of Joy. (At first anyways.)
@Neijitara all children are born asexual. if the doctor decides to let the umbilical cord remain the child becomes a male. the length of the umbilical cord determines how well endowed the child will be.
well she was too far into her pregnancy where they tell you to ween off it so the baby doesn't withdrawal or become stillborn. they unknowingly quit thinking that's the best thing for the baby, but really u should tell dr when ur an addict and find out ur pregnant, u can't just quit.
@mhad34 no im sure he means what he say....you don't know his friend or what he used to judge my cousin used to use god knows what and has since been hospitalized and diagnosed as a schizo...he hears voices and has conversations with multiple personalities within his mind (out loud of course) i've seen this so don't judge
It's movies like this that make me really really say: "I'm never gonna turn out the way my family did." Maybe if they had watched it most would still be alive..
I like this film but parts of it is like un confy to watch, like wen they were struggling to stay sober, they were like ill and were having fits. Its just sad to see how hard it is to stay sober. Plus she is prego and u get sick being prego 2 sometimes so she was twice as ill.
Dude whats your problem, Im just makin a point, gosh, so i made a few typing mistakes but i dont see anyone else taking the fucking piss, I llove this film and i love heath ledger he is like my fav actor of all time (RIP), but you dont have to go around looking gor arguements being rude to everyone u see, and for ur information im 15. And i like love game by Lady Ga Ga so why do u go and suck ur disco stick!
@GaRideOnUrDiscoStick This film is supposed to be intense, aka, "uncomfy." It needs to be gritty, raw and rip your heart out painful. For many reasons, this is one of my favorite films. When it comes to a film about love, addiction, suffering and loss, it has to be balls to the wall. No pussy footing, sugar coating or watering down. If it were "comfortable" to watch, it would lack impact and authenticity.
do u wanna no why it is uncomfy to watch, my mum died from a fucking herion addict i saw her having fits like this when i was a little girl, be more senstive to peoples feelings
u need to think before u insult, because the thought of my mum tring to stay sober wen she was pregnant with me is unbarible. My mum tried her hardest when i was little to stay sober and in the end she couldnt take in anymore and ending up back on the drugs after tring for 6 years. She died of an overdose wen i was only 7 years old. Now me watchin this has been hard for me. And u attackin my comment like that has really hurt me so i really think u need to Apologize for that
I've struggled with heroin addiction half my life. I have kids. Please don't ever think your mom didn't love you. It's a terrible addiction. I am clean now, thank god. It takes a lot of strength to deal with what you've gone through, Keep your head up.
I was an addict and I kicked it AS SOON AS I WAS PREGO! and I got a beautiful healthy baby girl out of it and 7 years later I am STILL SOBER! I don't wanna sound like I am judging (I'm sure there's alot of us like this out there...stuggling to be and stay)....... Its just soooo sad :( I'm sure we can all take this as a lesson in life as the acting in this film is so great!
@69Sheba Good for you. That's really awesome. I was never a junkie, but I self-harmed for years and that was very hard to give it up. I admire your strength.
@69Sheba i was weak and engaged to a great girl while hooked on H...torpedoed the marriage in the most obnoxious way, but it was to spare her an awful life with me. finally got clean this year
@DougglesMagnificent CONGRATS! I am trying to get clean off suboxone but its HELL. It doesn;t hit you as fast as H but the withdrawals are just as severe and long lasting. I hope you stay clean. Stay strong. All my support
@DougglesMagnificent Good for you man!I been clean for 3 years and it's not an easy thing to do.It's easy to be a junkie but it takes a real man to STAY SOBER!Keep up the good work!
@69Sheba I so agree with you about the acting! I feel as though I'm watching a real life situation here, and it is indeed soooo very sad! Keep on keepin' on! Sounds like you are doing well! The last two words of your comment are awsome!

Woah, she liked the film, let her be. It's a youtube comment, you don't have to pour all your thoughts into it.
Besides, she was able to get over what she deemed uncomfortable and watch the movie because she liked it, why does that make her immature?
