Stem cell research is incredibly important in most, if not potentially all, pharmacogenomic treatments in the future. Almost every illness known - At birth your own cord blood stem cells could easily be used for a plasmid library, a petri dish of cloned stem cells, for medical treatment if you need it. Their is also the "direct" potential of haematopoetic stem cells in individual medical care, you have some with you right now ;)

Do I think the human genome project is worth it? Yep
